On arrival at Paro airport, your passport will be stamped with a visa. You will need to have in your possession your visa approval letter and two passport size photos. Your guide will be there to meet you and take you to your 3-star hotels in Paro.

    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 2: Paro To Jele Dzong Past Damchena Village.

Todayโ€™s trek is relatively short, but due to the higher altitude, we will not rush it. This morning we will drive up to the National Museum (2487m) located above Paro from where we will begin our trek. From the museum climb uphill through apple orchards, farm plots of Damchena villagers, and through pine forests. We will then arrive at Jele Dzong (3,490m), situated high on the ridge. Jele Dzong is mostly in a state of ruin. There is a Lhakhang (Buddhist temple) here with a statue of Buddha Sakyamuni. If it is a clear day we can look down on Paro and to Mt. Jomolhari (7,314m). We will camp overnight at an altitude of 3480 meters.

  • Day 3 Day 3: Jela Dzong To Jangchulakha.
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 3: Jela Dzong To Jangchulakha.

This morning begins with a gradual ascent and then we descend below the ridgeline and along a trail through dense alpine forests and rhododendrons. It is not uncommon to see yak herders in this area. You will also have some awesome views of Mt. Jomolhari and other snow-covered peaks. Pheasants also make their appearance on the trail and their squawking sounds can be heard in the forest. We continue heading higher to the yak grazing pastures at Jangchulakha (3,780m) from where we can see the massive Himalayan ranges. We will camp in a yak pasture close to the hillside overnight.

  • Day 4 Day 4: Jangchulakha To Jimilangtsho Lake.
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 4: Jangchulakha To Jimilangtsho Lake.

Again we follow the ridge and occasionally pass through juniper and rhododendron trees. On the ridge, we can see down to the mountain valleys of Thimphu and Paro โ€“ a magnificent view!  A short climb is then followed by a steep descent to Jimilang Tsho Lake (3,880m). This lake is well-known for its massive trout. From close to our camp you have some great views of Jichu Drake (6,989m), a significant peak that Bhutanese believe represents the protective divine being of Paro. Tonight we will camp close to Jimilang Tsho Lake.

  • Day 5 Day 5: Jimilhangtso Via Janetsho Lake To Simkota.
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 5: Jimilhangtso Via Janetsho Lake To Simkota.

The trail this morning takes us through rhododendron trees and past Janye Tsho (Janet So) Lake. On the trail we will also come across several camps where the yak herders stay. The trail today is undulating and offers fantastic views of the Himalaya down into deep valleys. Simkota Tsho Lake (4,110m) is also visible from the ridge. The trail continues until we come to a yak grazing pasture where we will camp the night.

  • Day 6 Day 6: Simkota Via Phajoding (3,870M) To Paro.
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 6: Simkota Via Phajoding (3,870M) To Paro.

The trail this morning begins with a steady climb to a small saddle at 4,150 meters from where you can see the majestic Mt. Gangkar Puensum and other Himalayan snow-capped peaks. We then head down to a small lake and then climb up to Phume La Pass (4,210m) which is decorated with striking Buddhist prayer flags. From this vantage point, you can look down on the city of Thimphu far below us. The trail continues to head down through junipers trees until we come to a community hall near Phadjoding (3,870m). From here we follow the trail heading to Thimphu, passing through a forest of blue pine trees and juniper until we arrive at a road intersection at Sangaygang hill looking down over the Thimphu Valley. We will drive from here back to Paro where we will stay overnight.

  • Day 7 Day 7: Transfer To Airport For Departure.
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 7: Transfer To Airport For Departure.

Today is the end of your journey to this incredible kingdom as we head to Paro Airport for our flight back to Kathmandu or other destinations.
