In the morning, you will visit the Ho Chi Minh mausoleum and the former home of the legendary politician, where he lived from 1958 to 1969. You will then visit Vietnam's most important literary temple and the fabled Chua Mot Cot, also known as the “one-pillar pagoda”. You'll take a drive around the beautiful Hoan Kiem Lake and visit the so-called “Jade Mountain Temple,” the Ngoc Son Temple. Then take a one-hour rickshaw ride through Hanoi's old town, one of the most beautiful in Asia. A performance of the water puppet theater rounds off this day. Day 3: The Karst Landscape Of The "Dry Halong Bay" Around Ninh Binh (B)

This morning, your driver will take you to Ninh Binh. The city is located in the so-called “dry Halong Bay”. The tour takes you past small villages and rice fields, giving you a good impression of life in the countryside. Once in Ninh Binh, take a short bike tour (about 2 km) to get to know the place better. Here you have the opportunity to visit one of the traditionally built houses. Leave your bikes and switch to a boat that will take you further down the river. After a short time, the first large limestone cliffs appear. Similar to the famous Halong Bay, these were formed by the sea, except that they don't protrude from the sea, but from rice fields. Grottoes and caves have also formed in this enchanting landscape. Your boat will take you to one of these caves, the But Cave. The approximately 2-hour boat trip ends in Thung Nham, from where you will be taken back to Ninh Binh. Your day starts with a visit to the former imperial city of Hue. It was built in the early 19th century and is similar to the forbidden city in Beijing. The sightseeing tour starts with a boat trip on the Perfume River to Thien Mu Pagoda, a 17th century Buddhist monastery. From there, it's on to the venerable imperial city. Countless palaces, temples, a library and a museum can be found within these walls alongside the legendary “forbidden, crimson city.” Famous landmarks such as the majestic citadel and the Ngo Mon Gate, which is the main entrance to the imperial estate, are part of the sightseeing tour, as well as the Dien Tho residence, where the Mother of the King lived, and the Thai Hoa Palace, with its detailed entrance hall, the halls of the Mandarin and original urn of the Ninth Dynasty. In the afternoon, visit the famous tombs of Emperor Tu Duc, which lie in the middle of wooded hills and lakes off the palace grounds. You will then continue to Hoi An. In the morning, you will take a trip to the famous Cu Chi tunnel system today. Your travel companion will take you to the city gates, where the system was created from tunnels of around 350 km in length. Here, the Viet Cong fought against the Americans and used the system to organize themselves and as shelters. The Cu Chi plant is still regarded today as a symbol of resistance to foreign rule and external determination. In addition to shelters, the system also includes kitchens, bedrooms, hospital wards, conference rooms and storerooms. Wells were also dug in the tunnels 5 to 6 meters deep, which supplied the partisans with fresh water. In the afternoon, the sightseeing tour of the metropolis of Saigon continues. A rickshaw will take you to a nice place to eat your lunch. We continue on small boats on the narrow waterways back to Ben Tre and via transfer back to Saigon.
