Day 1: Arrival Santiago, Chile

Stop At: Santiago, Santiago, Santiago Metropolitan Region
After arrival, take the rest of the day at your leisure to
explore the city and its many bustling neighborhoods. We recommend a walk through the Bellavista or Lastarria neighborhoods for an intimate introduction to the eclectic and colorful city.

Day 2: Free Day in Santiago

Stop At: Santiago, Santiago, Santiago Metropolitan Region
Today you are free to explore the city of Santiago on your own. It is a beautiful, cosmopolitan city with delicious food, interesting history, and enough activities to make an entire trip out it. We are happy to make recommendations on places to visit and things to do, just ask!

Day 3: Pucon

Stop At: Pucon, Pucon, Araucania Region
After a day free to explore Santiago, it is time to head to Pucon. Get a nice sleep and wake refreshed and ready to explore the amazing area.

Day 4: Living the Eclipse According to the Ancestors

Stop At: Curarrehue, Araucania, Chile
Over the next four days you will learn the way of life of the Pehuenche and Mapuche people. This is a rare opportunity and something that can manifest in experiences you will never forget.

Today: from Pucon you will head to Curarrehue. Visit a traditional Mapuche family home where you will learn about the traditions of the Mapuche people and their relationship with the land, stars, and the eclipse. In the afternoon you will visit a farm to learn about the raising of sheep and livestock. While there local craftswomen will conduct a workshop on creating artisan textiles. The day will end with a beautiful dinner at a family home.

Day 5: Continue: Living the Eclipse According to the Ancestors

Stop At: Curarrehue, Araucania, Chile
Today will be an active day. Enjoy the native forests and breathtaking landscapes, and enjoy a traditionally prepared picnic. In the evening a traditional Asado de Cordero al Palo will be conducting. This is a traditional way of cooking over fire. Share and enjoy with your host family.

Day 6: Continue: Living the Eclipse According to the Ancestors

Stop At: Curarrehue, Araucania, Chile
It is eclipse day! After a traditional breakfast you will visit Villarica National Park, a place of great beauty and home of Araucarias, Lengas, Rauli, Manios, and other native forests. Prepare for the eclipse by learning about Mapuche cosmology and their connection with sacred territories. Then it is time to view the eclipse. You will be given special glasses and enjoy the event.

Day 7: Continue: Living the Eclipse According to the Ancestors

Stop At: Curarrehue, Araucania, Chile
After a slow morning and a hearty breakfast, your day will center around a local seed protector teaching you the ways of agriculture and caring of the land. Explore the land and learn about the native plants and their importance to the community. In the afternoon head to Temuco, and on to Coyhique to begin the next phase of the trip.

Once arrived to Coyhique rest for the evening. This is a good time to procure any last supplies you will need for the adventure ahead. It will be good to get food, gear, or anything that is needed. We will brief you. Next day we will begin our journey in Cerro Castillo.

Day 8: Trekking Cerro Castillo

Stop At: Coyhaique, Coyhaique, Aisen Region
Today you begin you journey into the remote and wild back-country of Patagonia: Cerro Castillo. Your day begins early and will end sleeping among the granite giants of the Torres Range. We begin at Las Horquetas, walking to the part entrance. You will pass by lush forests and granite walls as you step further into the wild lands of Chile. Once you reach the park entrance you will pay your fee and then it is just 1 more hour walking to the first camp at Rio Turbio. Set up your tent and have a meal. Get rest for tomorrow.

Day 9: Continue: Trekking Cerro Castillo

Stop At: Coyhaique, Coyhaique, Aisen Region
Today we encounter El Penon Pass. Start the day walking next to the river. Top out at the pass with breathtaking views of the high peaks and surrounding area. Take it slow and end at El Bosque. If the weather is good continue 1 more hour to the campsite at La Tetera. This site has amazing views of Cerro Castillo lake and is a highlight of the trip.

Day 10: Continue: Trekking Cerro Castillo

Stop At: Coyhaique, Coyhaique, Aisen Region
Begin the day with Cerro Castillo Lake. Encounter Cerro Castill pass, turning back to enjoy the views. Next is Los Porteadores. You can either remain here or continue to Neozelandes, a beautiful and unique place. Contact us for full details.

Day 11: Continue: Trekking Cerro Castillo

Stop At: Coyhaique, Coyhaique, Aisen Region
Enjoy your last day in the mountains, breathing in the fresh air and views as you head to Villa Cerro Castillo. This ends your journey and you can find your way to your lodging for the night. Enjoy a much deserved shower and rest.

Day 12: Return to Santiago

Today you will rise early and head to Coyhaique, then Santiago. Once you arrive to Santiago, enjoy the rest o the day free to explore the city or relax and catch up on rest.

Day 13: The Hero Returns Home

Stop At: Santiago, Santiago, Santiago Metropolitan Region
For true transformation to take place our journey does not end once we return from the adventure, it is only the beginning. As you enjoy a free day in Santiago and prepare to return home, it is important to take time to reflect and begin to make meaning from your expereinces.

Here are some steps to take in your return:

-Remain in contact with us for your post-trip process and support in coming home
-Take time to truly reflect and take stock of the experience, don't rush too quickly back into "normal life"
-Follow up with contacts you have made and keep in touch with those you met on the way
-Be patient with yourself and with those around you, it is possible you are not the same person who left home at the beginning.
