Yellow River Exploration- Xi'an, Hukou, Pingyao, Datong, Taiyuan, Changzhi

Itinerary

Day 1: Xi'an-Hukou-Yichuan

Stop At: Hukou Waterfall, Hukou Town, Ji County 042200 China
We are going to visit Hukou waterfall in the morning by driving from Xi’an, this is one of the most famous waterfall on the Yellow River, It is also the second largest waterfall in China. It is known as‘ the Yellow River wonders’. Its surging momentum is the symbol of the Chinese national spirit.

Day 2: Yichuan-Pingyao

Stop At: Pingyao Ancient City Ticket Office, Bei Da Jie, Pingyao Xian, Jinzhong Shi, Shanxi Sheng, China
Full day tour in Pingyao to visit all ancient places such as ancient bank, garvenment, city wall, gates…

Day 3: Pingyao-Qikou

Stop At: Qikou Scenic Area, 48 km South of the County, Lin County 033000 China
Pingyao to Qikou in the morning, have lunch in Wubao, and then heading to the well preserved ancient town Qikou.

Day 4: Qikou-Pianguan

Stop At: Qikou Scenic Area, 48 km South of the County, Lin County 033000 China
Day tour around Qikou to see the Yellow river culture of China. We will visit Zikou old town and surrounding villages include Xiwan village. Keep going to Pianguan county by the Yellow River after excursion.

Day 5: Pianguan-Laoniuwan-Pianguan

Stop At: Wanjiazhai Hotel, China, Shanxi Sheng, 偏关 Pianguan Xian, 万家寨镇 邮政编码: 036412
Day Trip to Lao Niu Wan and Wan Jiazhai, enjoy the magnificent view of Yellow River Gorge and the Great wall where cross Yellow River.

Day 6: Pianguan-Luyashan-Wannianbingdong-Dongzhai

Stop At: Luyashan, Ningwu County, Xinzhou, Shanxi, China
We will drive from Pianguan to Mt. Luyanshan in the morning, and then Visit Luya Mountain ,fully enjoy the beautiful view there, trekking on the hanging passway. Then, we will visit Shuozhou 10000 years ice cave. This is a very special cave from the ice age, we will climb into the cave and enjoy this very special place. After that, drive back down to Dongzhai town in the late afternoon.

Day 7: Dongzhai-Xuankongcun-Datong

Stop At: Xuankongcun Scenic Spot, Ningwu County, Xinzhou, Shanxi, China
In the morning, we are going to visit the hanging village nearby. Hanging village is one of the olddest village in Shanxi, most of buildings and roads was support by wooden pillas on the cliff, it’s unique in China.

Stop At: Datong Museum, Taihe Road, Yudong New District, Datong 037005 China
we will go to the Datong Museum, which has many colorful national cultural relics. Historically, Datong is located in the border area between the Han nationality in the Central Plains and the northern minority nationalities. It is the intersection of farming culture and animal husbandry culture. The ancient culture is colorful and brilliant.

Day 8: Datong-Yungang Grottos- Yingxian

Stop At: Yungang Grottoes, Wuzhou Mountain, Urban Area, Datong 37000 China
Visit one of four most famous grottos in China—Yungang Grottos in the morning. After lunch, take 1.5 hours bus ride to visit Hanging monastery. Hanging monastery is the most special monastery in China, was built on a cliff and the whole temper was supported by wood pillars.

Day 9: Yingxian-Yanmenguan-Daixian-Taiyuan

Stop At: Pagoda of Fogong Temple, China, Shanxi Sheng, Shuozhou Shi, Yingxian, Bei Jie, 佛宫寺内
In the morning, visit Yingxian wooden pagoda. This is the biggest and best preserved padoda in China, only built by wood.
Duration: 2 hours

Stop At: Yanmen Pass, Yanmenguan Village, Yanmenguan Pass Country, Dai County 034200 China
We will take about 1 hour bus ride to the Yanmenguan Pass on the Ming dynasty great wall. After lunch in Daixian, we will visit Bianjin tower in Daixian.

Day 10: Taiyuan-Changzhi

Stop At: Jinci Park, In Front of Jinci Old Buildings, Jinyuan Distrct, Taiyuan 030025 China
In the morning, city tour in Taiyuan, visit Jinci and Shanxi provincial museum.

Day 11: Changzhi-Jindi Village-Changzhi

Stop At: Changzhi Telecom Unit, Yingxiong N Rd, Changzhi Shi, Shanxi Sheng, China
Early morning, we start from Changzhi and head for Deep Valley-Jingdi Village, which is located at the intersection of Pingshun in Shanxi Province and Linzhou in Henan Province. Here, surrounded by a cliff, hence the name of the view. Its terrain is not very airy, so that it is not foggy outside the mountain and it is also foggy inside, however clear clouds outside the mountain, and white clouds in the ditch.When the rain is coming, the caves and crevices are full of fog. Smoke gathers between the cliffs and forms a long cloud belt. It gives a mysterious veil to the beautiful mountains and waters. We are standing at a high point and look down. The dark green mountains standing out of the clouds in the white sea of clouds make people fascinated.

Day 12: Changzhi-Huangchengxiangfu-Xiangyu Village-Jincheng

Stop At: House of the Huangcheng Chancellor, Yangcheng County, Jincheng, Shanxi, China
We will leave Changzhi in the morning, take 2.5 hours drive to Jincheng, and then visit Huangchengxiangfu and Xiangyu Village. They are the classic North China castle village.

Day 13: Sanmenxia-Underground Village-Mt. Hua

Stop At: Sanmenxia Dam Scenic Area on Yellow River, Huanghe Road, Hubin District, Sanmenxia 472000 China
In the morning, we are going to the border of Shanxi and Henan province to see the undergroud village. Underground village is one of the most ancient village in the central China, you can not see any building on the ground, everything underground. We will walk around the village and have local style lunch in the ancient underground house.

Day 14: Mt. Hua

Stop At: Mount Huashan, Within Huayin, Huayin 714200 China
Morning, We will go to the Huashan which is one of the Five Mountains in China. And also named West Yue. Mt. Hua is famous for its strange risk and the Qinling Mountains branch of‘ the most risky mountain in the world’. We visit to the Mt. Hua by Western cable car up and Northern cable car down and then trekking all the 4 peaks from west to north which will take about 5 hours. Then，drive to the airport.
