Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival

Stop At: Thimphu, Thimphu, Thimphu District
Arrive at Paro International airport. Then we drive to Thimpu, the capital city of Bhutan, the city that glitters with stars and lights during the night. Enjoy interaction with your local homestay host . We do some local sightseeing at Thimphu.

You could visit the Thirteen Traditional Arts and Crafts School and the Folk Heritage Museum, before continuing to the National Library and the Traditional Paper Making Factory.

Day 2: Thimphu Sightseeing

Stop At: Thimphu, Thimphu, Thimphu District
After breakfast we will visit the below attractions:

National Memorial Chorten

Visit the National Memorial Chorten which is built in honour of the late King Jigme Dorji Wangchuk, the Thimphu Dzong, the largest Dzong in Bhutan, is also the seat of the office of the King of Bhutan.

Kuensel Phodrang Nature Park

Thereafter, we will drive up to Kuensel Phodrang Nature Park where the 169 feet bronze statue of Buddha Dordenma, Vajra Throne Buddha is located. It is one of the largest statueโ€™s of the Buddha in the world.

Tango Monastery

Located 14 kilometres to the North of Thimphu is the Tango Monastery which was founded by Phajo Drugom Zhigpo in the 13th century. The monasteryโ€™s excellent architecture has stayed for decades now. It consists of six temples, each with unique architecture.

Day 3: Day Trip to Punakha

Stop At: Punakha, Punakha, Punakha District
After breakfast, we will drive you to Punakha and stop at Dochula Pass, where you will have a coffee break, regard the grand 108 stupas (sacred structures) and appreciate the stunning view of the Himalayaโ€™s on a clear day.

Chimi Lhakhang

Later we will hike around 1.5 hours to Chimi Lhakhang, which is a temple dedicated to the divine Madman and people come here to pray for children.

Punakha Dzong

Continue to Punakha Dzong, a large and spectacular Bhutanese architecture, located at the confluence of Po Chu and Mo Chu Rivers. It was the religious and administrative centre of Bhutan until 1950 when the capital moved to Thimphu.

After that, we visit the nearby Suspension Bridge, which is the longest bridge of Bhutan.

We do an evening drive to Thimphu.

Day 4: Travel to Paro

Stop At: Paro, Paro, Paro District
Visit the Paro Dzong and the Ta Dzong.

You will visit the auspicious Kyichu Lhakhang, a sacred monument pinning down the left foot of a treacherous ogress, which is built in 659 A.D by the Tibetan king Songtsen Gampo.

Overnight halt at Paro.

Day 5: Tiger's Nest Trek

Stop At: Paro Taktsang, Taktsang Trail BT, Paro Bhutan
This is a strenuous day as we will hike up to the holiest Buddhist monastery in Bhutan, Taktsang (Tigerโ€™s Nest). It is located in a cliff about 3000 meters (9000 feet) above the Paro Valley. After hiking for about 3 hours, we arrive at this spectacular monastery, where you will appreciate the awesome architecture and take in the beauty of the Paro Valley.

The climb up to the viewpoint will take around 1 1โ„2 hours and from there you will enjoy a spectacular view of the monastery clinging to the side of the cliff. Stop for refreshment at the View Point Cafeteria. Then walk further up to the monastery which will take about 1 hour. Relax in a herbal hot stone bath after the end of your trip.

Day 6: Day Trip to Haa Valley

Stop At: Haa Valley, Ha Bhutan
Arrive at the Haa Valley which is blessed by the presence of Meri Puensum, three small mountains symbolizing Rigsum Gonpo: Jampelyang (Manjushri), Chana Dorje (Vajrapani) and Chenrezig (Avalokiteshvara). You will drive past the mighty Chele-la Pass where you will admire the breathtaking view of Mt. Jomolhari on a clear day.

You can explore the remote village, which will take 30 minutes walk and stroll in the town. You will also visit Lhakhang Karpo and Lhakhang Nagpo. Drive back to Paro town in the evening.
