  • Day 1 Day 1: Arrival In Istanbul And Flight To Mount Nemrut

      Day 1: Arrival In Istanbul And Flight To Mount Nemrut

      Today you will transfer to Istanbul airport where you will take a domestic flight to Adiyaman, and begin your tour to Mount Nemrut.

      Mount Nemrut Tour

      A member of our team will be waiting for you at the airport and you will begin your tour of this hallowed landscape. On the way to Mount Nemrut, you will visit โ€™Black Bird Burial Moundโ€™, also known as โ€˜Karakus Tumulusโ€™. You will also travel over the ancient Roman Bridge at Cendere, so was well built it can still be used today. you will also see 2 castles, old Arsemia and the new at Kahta.

      Mount Nemrut at Dusk

      Looking out across this high point, breath in the sunset across the valleys as it slowly sinks below the horizon. At the summit of the mountain, you will be able to explore the ancient ruins, protected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Tomb of King Antiochus rests here surround by gigantic statues, there is also a relief of the oldest known image of human shaking hands.

      As the sun sets you will make your way to your accommodation

      Today we travel to Ataturk Dam which is in Halfeti. There are amazing views and take plenty of opportunities to take awesome pictures.

      Halfeti Ancient City & Boat Cruise

      Once we reach the ancient town of Halfeti, we will spend some time visiting the highlights before taking a cruise along the Euphrates river.

      Kelaynak Bird Sanctuary

      When the cruise is over we will visit a unique bird sanctuary in Birecik. You will see the Ibis birds, a species endemic to this region that is very rare.

      Sanliurfa City Center

      Next, we head to Sanliurfa where you will tour the city centre before heading to your accommodation.

      Day 3: Sanliurfa, Harran, Gobekli Tepe And Return To Istanbul

      Today will find us at the site of the oldest sites in the world at Gobekli Tepe.

      Sanliurfa Historical Bazaar

      This city has traditions and history that dates back generations with stories being told in religious texts. The pool at Sanliurfa is the site where God saved Abraham from an evil king who tried to throw Abraham into a fire pit, but the fire was turned to water and the burning logs changed to fish. There are still fish living in the pool. There is a cave nearby carved out of the rock by Abraham, today a museum has been erected around it for its preservation, many visitors come to see the place where Abraham lead a simple life with his family.

      Gobekli Tepe has been excavated unearthing ruins that date back to different time periods. Discovered in 1996 it is believed to be a sanctuary and documented that the the statues, monuments and general buildings date back  between 6,000 and 12,000 years ago, predating the pyramids by 6000 years.

      Harran

      Northern Harran dates back as far as the 3rd Millennium. Once a prosperous city of Mesopotamia and a trade route between the Mediterranean and the Tigris Plains, over the centuries there have been many fierce battles as many wanted to rule these great lands including the Persian Empire, Alexander the Great, the Seleucid Empire, Roman Empire, and the Muslim Arabs. 

      At the end of your time in Harran we will take you to the airport to catch a flight back to Istanbul.

      Flight to Istanbul

      After your incredible 3 days it will be time to say goodbye, you will jump on a plane bound for Istanbul where your tour will come to an end.
