5-day Backcountry Hut Skiing In Ketmen Ridge

Itinerary

At the 1st day you will depart from Almaty to Ketpen village (336 km) early in the morning. Upon arrival in 4 hours, you will pack horses, which will carry all heavy stuff to the mountain hut, and have breakfast at the local family’s house. After transfer to the starting point (12 km), you will start ski-touring to the mountain hut through the pass with stunning panorama of the closest ridges (distance 7 km, elevation gain 630 meters, loss 450 meters). After getting the hut, lunch and rest. Then, dinner and overnight in the hut.
The next 3 days you will have fantastic skiing in Ketmen ridge. Daily elevation gain 1000-1500 meters, length of descents 400-2000 meters, slopes steepness 15-35 degrees. After each skiing day you will come back to the hut in the afternoon to have late lunch, rest and bath-house in the evening. Then, dinner and overnight in the hut.
On the 5th day you will return to Ketpen village and after short rest will have transfer to the resort with mineral hot-springs (40 km). Relaxing in the open-air and indoor swimming pools with hot mineral water for 2 hours. Late lunch in café at the resort and transfer back to Almaty with estimated arrival at 22:00.
