We will have to wake up around midnight to 1 am to complete the 10 to 12-hour climb.  The goal is to reach the summit before lunchtime in order to avoid possible strong winds later in the day. At first, we trek along a steep hillside and then come to a point where we cross boulders and the slope becomes narrower. The trail then crosses a steep gully and from here we follow the ridgeline to the base of the glacier that extends all the way to the summit. A sharp incline on a snowy slope takes us to the summit. Your guides will most likely attach ropes at this point โ€“ fixed and person to person. The rope will stretch to about 350 meters depending on the depth of the snow and if there are any crevices. In previous climbs, there have been several crevices where we have used ladders to cross them. Once at the summit we can relax and soak up some of the most spectacular views you will ever see. This is truly an exhilarating moment and a perfect opportunity to take photos. We will then head back to Island Peak Base Camp where we can celebrate our successful climb to Island Peak summit.
