The red cliffs on the west side of the river are amazing; here you can see hundreds of caves. Itโ€™s possible to visit an 800 years old monastery on the other side of the river about 30 minutes from the village, just under the cliffs, and/or visit the village closer to the cliffs which is very old and interesting. After lunch we continue on our route by the river bank and we cross over an iron bridge where the Kaligandaki River runs through a tunnel naturally built in a huge rock; we can also see 16 caves 50 meters above the tunnel. • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Trek From Cheling To Tsarang (3560 M) 6-7 Hours

We will wake up early this morning, not because of the long walk ahead but because weโ€™re entering in the most spectacular section of Mustang and we need time to enjoy this unique place.

We will initially walk ascending gently until we reach Zaite village which takes about 1 hour. After the village, a long ascent awaits us to Nyi-La 4020m. We cross over this pass entering the center of Mustang which is called the Lo region. Then we keep gently descending to reach a small pass and follow the barren valley after crossing a high pass (4930 m); ascension to the pass is gentle but

long. Today we prepare packed lunch due to no appropriate cooking possibilities on the trek. Stay

overnight at tented camp, close to the river and the only one place where is possibile to find running water. The trek is easy but long and because we will climb to 5000 meters take your time. again. From here we can see the incredible multi coloured cliffs to the north and the huge barrier of the Annapurna Range to the south. An unforgettable vision. After that pass it really goes steep down in a zigzag way to Ghami village where we will spend at least half an hour visiting the village which is really amazing. Later, in 15 minutes we will reach the longest mani wall of Mustang. From here itโ€™s recommended to take a side walk to the village of Dhakmar which is situated just under the most spectacular red cliffs of Mustang (about 2 hours up and back). From the mani wall we will follow the road up to a 4000 meters pass from where we will clearly see the Damodar Himal on the east side of the Kaligandaki River gorge, an incredible multi coloured mountain desert view. From Ghami to Tsarang itโ€™s about 3 hours. The village of Tsarang is the second most important settlement of Mustang where we can see a huge monastery complex and the old kingโ€™s palace. Overnight in lodge. In order to visit Dhakmar cliffs itโ€™s recommended to start walking no later than 7.30 am.

  • Day 6 Trek From Tsarang To Lo Monthang (3810 M) 4-5 Hours
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Trek From Tsarang To Lo Monthang (3810 M) 4-5 Hours

The trek to the walled city of Lo is very easy, following the road in a desert-like environment. To reach the village we have to climb Lo La pass at about 3950 meters from where we can see the walled city and the Tibetan plateau to the north. Overnight in lodge.

  • Day 7 Rest Day For Acclimatization
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Rest Day For Acclimatization

Today, we can relax and spend the whole day in the village, visiting the many monasteries and, if

possible, the royal palace, or visit Chhoser Village where we can visit many caves and a cave

monastery or explore Namgyal Monastery which is just 3 hours up and back from the village. The hike

to Chhoser and back is about 7-8 hours and we need a packed lunch. Later in the day, you have

time to explore the other monasteries in Lo-Manthang. Overnight at lodge.

  • Day 8 Trek From Lo-Manthang To Yara (3630 M) 6-7 Hours
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Trek From Lo-Manthang To Yara (3630 M) 6-7 Hours

After breakfast we will leave the village, ascending gently we will reach the Lo La pass, which takes about 40 minutes. This is the last point where we can see Lo-Manthang. After the pass, we will take a  narrow path to the east which climbs gently up to 4100 meters. The scenery is amazing and we will probably meet just some Tibetans during our trek. After 3 hours we will reach Dhi village at about 3600 meters where we have a lunch break in a lodge. After lunch, we cross the Kaligandaki river and walk to the Yara village along the river bed. It takes about 1 hour from Dhi. We can see

innumerable caves on the stone walls. Stay overnight at a tented camp or lodge.

  • Day 9 Trek From Yara To Luri Gompa (3900 M) 2-3 Hours
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Today we make a very short trek to the spectacular Luri Gompa. The trek to the monastery follows a narrow gorge where we can see many caves and a cave monastery that is almost always closed. After about 2 hours we will reach our camp at the base of the monastery. There are actually two monasteries. First, we visit the one which is situated below Luri Cave monastery. Then a short steep ascent brings us to Luri Cave Monastery which takes us about 30 minutes. This is the oldest and most famous cave monastery in the Mustang region which was constructed in the 5th century. It is situated at an elevation of 4005m. Inside the cave, we can see a big Old Chhorten and many images and statues of Protectors and Deities. • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Trek From Luri Gompa To Ghuma Thanti (4760 M) 6-7 Hours

We will start our trek early in the morning. Initially, we will climb a short steep section, then we follow the barren valley after crossing a high pass (4930 m); ascension to the pass is gentle but

long. Today we prepare packed lunch due to no appropriate cooking possibilities on the trek. Stay

overnight at a tented camp, close to the river and the only place where is possible to find running water. The trek is easy but long and because we will climb to 5000 meters take your time. minutes. From the pass follow the glacier keeping care of some big crevasses. After 1 hour at about  5750 meters exit the glacier on the left and follow the endless moraine for about 4 hours. There is a good camping place at about 5100 meters and a better one at about 4950 meters. Itโ€™s a very long walk but itโ€™s better to resist and arrive up to here than placing the camp on the moraine before because itโ€™s very difficult to find water. This is a very long day, 11-12 hours if you climb the peak, 8-9 if you just cross the pass.

  • Day 11 Trek From Ghuma Thanti To Bacha Khola (4890 M) 4-5 Hours
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Trek From Ghuma Thanti To Bacha Khola (4890 M) 4-5 Hours

This is a relatively short but spectacular trek. Initially, we will follow the mostly frozen river gorge, then we will gently climb to a pass at 5300 meters from where we can see the Damodar Himal mountains and the mighty Dhaulagiri in the distance. The pass to the camp is mainly down along a red desert, a unique and surreal place. We will place our camp in a deep gorge where close to the small river.

    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Trek From Bacha Khola To Damodar Kund (5010 M) 4-5 Hours

Initially, the trail is very steep and because weโ€™re in the shadow at a very high altitude it will be quite cold in the morning. After the first steep section, the path continues more gently to a high pass at about 5450 meters. From here we will have a wonderful view of the north side of Damodar Himal with many glaciated peaks over 6000 meters. After crossing the pass we will slowly descend for 1 hour to reach a plateau. After crossing the river, in about 45 minutes we will reach the high-altitude Damodar Kund a sacred lake for Buddhists and Hindus (actually there are 3 small ponds). Close to the lake, there is a large barrack where our porters will stay. Stay overnight at a tented camp.

  • Day 13 Rest Day For Acclimatization
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Rest Day For Acclimatization

Today is a free day for exploring the surrounding hills around the sacred ponds of Damodar and

acclimatizing to high altitude. A possible and recommended side trip is climbing a steep narrow path to the north to reach a plateau which is an incredible view point at about 5450 meters, about 4 hours up and back from our camp. Stay overnight at a tented camp.

  • Day 14 Trek From Damodar Kund To Japanese Base Camp (5250) 3 Hours
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Trek From Damodar Kund To Japanese Base Camp (5250) 3 Hours

  • Day 15 Trek From Base Camp To High Camp (5750 M) 5-6 Hours
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Trek From Base Camp To High Camp (5750 M) 5-6 Hours

We will start early in the morning to trek to high camp. The trek is very hard because of the moving rocks at the beginning and the snowy terrain later. Beware that in case of deep snow it can also be very difficult to find the route, otherwise in good conditions is not difficult at all, we will climb up very slowly with gaining altitude. The environment is nothing less than superlative with huge glaciers and beautiful icy peaks all around. The camp is placed on a narrow moraine on the east side of the glacier. Because itโ€™s difficult to place more than 6 to 7 tents, start early if there are other groups on the way.

  • Day 16 Climb To Saribung Peak (6340 M) And Descend To Bhrikuti Camp (4950 M) 11-12 Hours
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Climb To Saribung Peak (6340 M) And Descend To Bhrikuti Camp (4950 M) 11-12 Hours

This is an extremely long and hard day. Wake up early in order to leave the camp at about 4.30, then follow the moraine up to the end, then move to the glacier at about 5850 m just at the base of the pass. From high camp to Saribung Pass (6040 m) is about 3 hours, the glacier is easy but there can be crevasses, therefore glacier equipment is mandatory (crampons, ice axe, and rope). On ideal conditions is possible to reach the pass without roping but always keep the rope at hand. From the pass to the summit is about 2 hours. The ascent is fairly easy but can be strenuous in case of deep snow; furthermore this a windy place, so it can be very cold. From the top, you will see an endless amount of snowy mountains in all directions. Unforgettable. Going back to the pass takes just 30 minutes. This is a very long day, 11-12 hours if you climb the peak,

  • Day 17 Trek From Bhrikuti Camp To Phoo Gaon (4080 M) 6-7 Hours

Trek From Bhrikuti Camp To Phoo Gaon (4080 M) 6-7 Hours

In the morning after breakfast, we will start our trek from our camp and walk on the barren valleys and desolate places. All along the way we always have a very good view of snowy peaks until reaching Phu Gaon. Now we are in one of the unique Lost/Hidden Valleys. We can see the remnants of a unique and very old Tibetan culture. The people are depending on subsistence agricultures, animal breeding, and seasonal migrations. The very old Buddhist Monastery known as Tashi Lakhang Monastery is listed as one of the greatest Buddhist Monasteries; it is believed to be the last monastery constructed by Karmapa Rinpoche. After breakfast, we will pass the kani/gate end of the village and drop down in the narrow valley and arrive in Kyang where we just see the remnants, particularly the ruined forts of the Khampa settlement (the place where Khampa refugees from Tibet once captured and lived illegally) at places like Jhunam, Chyakhu, and Kyang. Then we continue the trail until reaching Meta. We can see the very spectacular view of Annapurna II and Lamjung Himal. Overnight in lodge.

    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm
