Additionally, please note that during the months of March to May and September to November, all flights will depart from Ramechhap.       A representative from Sherpa Expedition and Trekking will meet you at the airport and take you to your hotel. We will have a pre-trek briefing and give you a copy of the map showing the route we will take to EBC. You will also get to meet your trekking guide too. Please be sure to have your passport, three passport-size photos and a copy of your travel insurance policy with you. This is also the time to clear the balance of your trek. You will also be asked to sign a disclaimer form.

      After landing at Lukla we prepare to hit the trail to Phakding Village. The first village on the trail is Chaurikharka from where we descend to the Dudh Koshi (river) and Ghat Village (2,530m). The next stop is Phakding Village where we can spend time acclimatizing. It is highly recommended by health professionals that to better acclimatize you stay active, so we will wander around the village and pay a visit to the Rimishung Monastery.

      Today we follow the trail along the banks of the Dudh Koshi River and cross several suspension bridges, including the Hillary suspension bridge, before arriving at the Sagarmatha National Park entry point where they check our permits. From here we climb up through a dense forest that can be very tiring as we head higher. This is also where we get our first sighting of Mt. Everest soaring above us. A little further along the trail, we come to Namche Bazaar, an important village where trekkers congregate before heading further into the mountains.

      This is a very important day and as we are above 3000 meters, then it is necessary to acclimatize before heading to higher altitudes. Health authorities strongly recommend you stay active and stay active during this period. We will take a short trek to Thame or maybe visit Khunde. We may also decide to explore Namche Bazaar, the center of the Everest Khumbu region. If you arrive on either Friday evening or on Saturday you can visit the regular weekly market. Your guide may also take you further up the mountain-side to the Tourist Visitor Centre near the headquarters of the Sagarmatha National Park. It is a fascinating place that has a display of many pieces of equipment and relics from the early explorers. You can also learn more about the Sherpa people and the flora and fauna to be found in the region. It will also give you a greater appreciation of your surroundings on the trail.

      The trek today follows the fast-flowing glacial waters of the Dudh Kosi and offers magnificent views of the mountains, including Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Taboche Peak, and Amadablam. We will eventually reach an altitude of 3,867 meters at Tengboche. At the Tengboche monastery are beautiful ornate wall hangings, a 20-foot sculpture of various poses of the Buddha, musical instruments, and robes of the Lamas. We will be taken to observe a prayer ceremony, either in the evening or in the morning, depending on how the trekking goes today.

      The trek today from Tengboche to Dingboche is only a short distance which we will most likely complete in the afternoon. However, the final hill before reaching Dingboche, and at this high altitude, is tough! The trail then takes us to the village of Somare (4020m) and then on to Orsho. Later the trail divides, with the left trail heading up to Pheriche. We continue on the right trail and cross a suspension bridge and then have a steep climb to the village of Dingboche (4460m).

      Our trek this morning begins with an easy walk towards Thukla before we have to cross the steep terminal moraine of the Khumbu Glacier and pass through the boulder-strewn slopes as we ascend to Chupki Lhara where we find clusters of stones with prayer flags placed by Sherpas as a memorial to Scott Fischer (American mountaineer), 10-time Everest summiteer Babu Chiri Sherpa (Nepalese Sherpa guide) who perished on a mission to climb Mt. Everest. The trail then continues to the Khumbu Glacier moraine and before us are many stunning mountain peaks, such as Khumbutse, Lingtren, and Mahalangur Himal.

      This morning we trek to Mt. Everest Base Camp heading through the vast Gorak Shep. On the trail, we pass the Indian army mountaineersโ€™ memorials. At this point, the path can be puzzling, so sticking close to your guide is important. The thin air at this high altitude can also be draining. We cross rocky dunes, moraine, and streams before arriving at Mt. Everest Base Camp. From Everest Base Camp you will see some of the worldโ€™s highest peaks, in stark contrast to the gray surroundings. Before us are Khumbutse, Nuptse, and Pumori. We will then head back to Gorak Shep for a well deserved nightโ€™s sleep at Gorak Shep.

      The trek up to Kalapathar (5550m) in the early morning is a photographerโ€™s dream come true experience as the sun reflects off the snow-clad peaks of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, and other peaks. Many photos of Everest you see on the internet are taken from this viewpoint. We then head back down to Dingboche, via Lobuche, before coming to Pheriche where we will stay the night.

      Descending is always faster and less strenuous as we head to Debouche and Tengboche before arriving at Phunke Tenga. Continuing downhill we arrive at the Dudh Koshi River and cross the suspension bridge. We then continue on to Namche Bazaar from where we can see the dazzling peaks of Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Tawache, and Lhotse. Tonight we will stay at Namche Bazaar.

      On our final day on the trail, we first head to the village of Monju. We will take the same trail as before to Lukla via Phakding. On this leg of the trail, we have unrestrained views down over the valleys inhabited by Sherpa people. After arriving at Lukla we will have some time to explore the village. In the evening we will have a group dinner with our guides to celebrate the successful achievement of completing the EBC trek. We will stay in a hotel tonight.

      Today we fly out of Lukla on a 30 to 40-minute scenic flight back to Kathmandu and get a chance to have a final view of the vast Himalayan landscape. On arrival at Kathmandu, we will take you to your hotel. You will have time this afternoon to wander around Thamel and do some shopping or maybe sit back and relax in a cafรฉ or bar to celebrate your last day in Nepal.
