Meals are not included but all our hostels have fully equipped kitchens where you can whip up dinner on a budget or you can head out to the local pubs and restaurants.

We try to keep our prices down for travellers and backpackers on a budget so we don't include any paid attractions in the price of the tour, however depending on availability and popularity, we may visit sites where you'll have the option to pay for a ticket to enter. Please let your guide know if you're keen to visit any paid attractions!

Accommodation

Your accommodation is reserved for you - you just need to pay for it at the departure point (Castle Rock hostel reception). We'll be staying one night in our hostel on the banks of Loch Ness and the other on Skye in our cosy private hostel in the village of Kyleakin. The cost is ยฃ30 per person per night.

      Day 1

      Departing from Edinburgh we set out on our adventure to explore the wild Highlands of Scotland. Travelling across the Highland Divide you will learn of heroic and ferocious clans, stopping for a woodland walk, before travelling on towards the famous Glenfinnan Viaduct (the Harry Potter bridge!) From here we take the stunning โ€˜Road to the Islesโ€™ to Mallaig where we catch the ferry over to the Isle of Skye and head to the wee village of Kyleakin to spend the night on this magical island. โ€ข The Hermitage Walk. โ€ข Pitlochry. โ€ข Loch Laggan. โ€ข Glenfinnan Viaduct. โ€ข Road to the Isles. โ€ข Ferry to Skye. โ€ข Kyleakin

      Day 2

      We start today off exploring the Isle of Skye where you will learn all about the mischievous faeries, hear tales of Celtic myths and see some of the most dramatic scenery our country has to offer. We head up to the Trotternish Peninsula for a lovely hike and amazing views in this unspoilt wilderness. Leaving Skye, we go in search of Nessie, the legendary monster that lurks beneath the deep waters of Loch Ness. Our hostel for the night is situated right on the shores of the loch with stunning views of the water. This is the only hostel in the world that can offer this unrivalled setting!. โ€ข Sligachan. โ€ข The Cuillin Mountains. โ€ข Portree. โ€ข Old Man of Storr. โ€ข Kilt Rock. โ€ข Quairaing. โ€ข Sleep on the shores of Loch Ness!

      Day 3

      Departing Loch Ness, we journey south-east taking in awe-inspiring views of mountains (including Britainโ€™s highest, Ben Nevis) and more lovely Lochs! Stopping in the dramatic and violent Glen Coe, with a history of clan massacres, we continue on through Rannoch Moor on our journey into Rob Roy country. A stop at Doune Castle is next before arriving back in Edinburgh. โ€ข Fort Augustus. โ€ข Fort William. โ€ข Glen Coe. โ€ข Rannoch Moor. โ€ข Rob Roy Country. โ€ข Doune Castle.
