Day 1: Arrival & Transfer to Hotel in Bogota

Stop At: Bogota, Bogota
After transport from the airport, meet your program staff and other participants in your Air BnB lodging or local guesthouse. Receive an overview of the program and orientation. Brief walking tour of neighborhood surrounding lodging, grocery shopping for breakfast supplies, money exchange, etc. Welcome dinner at a local restaurant to experience the flavors of Colombia.

Day 2: Bogota - Meeting with local NGO actors

Stop At: Bogota, Bogota
Learn about the history of the Colombian conflict with visits to local non-profit organizations, government offices, and international NGOs. Meetings vary depending on availability but typically include 2 organizations per day (1 in the morning, 1 in the afternoon). Past visits have included: Defensoria del Pueblo, Office of the High Commission for Peace, Presidential Council for Human Rights, UN Verification Mission for Peace Accords, AFRODES (Displaced Afrocolombian organization), CIJP (Inter-Ecclesial Commission for Justice and Peace), National Center for Historical Memory; Center for Peace, Memory, and Reconciliation; Dejusticia; CODHES; Peace Presence; Diakonia; Vidas Silenciades; and the Kroc Institute.
