      Cusco โ€“ Km 82 โ€“ Llactapata โ€“ Ayapata

Your trekking team will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco around 4:30 a.m., depending on your location, and drive for three hours to KM 82, the starting point of the Inca Trail. We aim to arrive by 8:00 a.m. After enjoying a hearty breakfast, weโ€™ll proceed to the checkpoint to begin our trek to Machu Picchu.

      ยญ

The first segment of our journey is a relatively easy two-hour walk to Patallacta, the initial Inca site along the trail. From a unique, secluded spot, weโ€™ll savor the breathtaking views of this ancient city. Following this, weโ€™ll embark on another two-hour hike to Hatunchaca in the heart of the Inca Trail. Here, your trekking chef will greet you with a delicious lunch made from local ingredients.

      ยญ

Post lunch, a two-hour walk will take us to our first campsite at Ayapata, with an estimated arrival time of 5:00 p.m. Your tent, a snack, and a hot drink will await you. This will give you ample time to relax and soak in the mountain views before dinner.

Weโ€™ll wake you up bright and early with a hot cup of coffee or cocoa tea, preparing you for the most challenging day of the Machu Picchu trek. Post breakfast, weโ€™ll embark on a four-hour uphill hike to Dead Womanโ€™s Pass, located at 4,215 meters (13,829 feet), the highest point of the Inca Trail. At the summit, weโ€™ll take a moment to appreciate the tranquility and serenity of the location while your guide conducts a traditional offering ceremony to the Apus (local Gods).

      ยญ

Subsequently, weโ€™ll continue with a two-hour downhill trek to the Pacaymayu Valley, where a well-earned lunch awaits us. The climb to the second pass is comparatively easier, taking around two hours, during which weโ€™ll explore two Inca sites: RuncuRaccay and Sayacmarca.

Todayโ€™s route is incredibly diverse, taking us through a mere five-hour walk to the final campsite. En route, weโ€™ll traverse several distinct ecosystems, experience the enchanting cloud forest, and soak in the majestic panoramic views of Salkantay Mountain, the second highest in Cusco.

      ยญ

We are set to explore two Inca sites: Phuyupatamarka (City in the Clouds), offering spectacular views of the Urubamba River and Machu Picchu Mountain, and Intipata (Terraces of the Sun). Weโ€™ll head straight to the checkpoint and wait for it to open at 5:30 a.m. As the first light of day brightens the sky, weโ€™ll embark on an hourโ€™s walk to the Sun Gate, enjoying breathtaking views. On a clear day, witnessing the spectacular sunrise over Machu Picchu from the Sun Gate is truly an unforgettable experience. Following this, weโ€™ll begin our one-hour descent towards Machu Picchu, arriving at the final control point around 7:30 a.m.
