  • Day 1 Day 1: Arrive At Tribhuwan International Airport, Kathmandu & Transfer To Hotel.

      Day 1: Arrive At Tribhuwan International Airport, Kathmandu & Transfer To Hotel.

      On arrival at Kathmandu, you will be met by a Sherpa Expedition & Trekking representative and transported to your hotel in Thamel. After checking in at the hotel, you will be briefed on what to expect on your trek. This is a good opportunity to ask questions of your guide concerning the trek. The remainder of your day can be spent wandering the narrow and winding streets of Thamel.

  • Day 2 Day 2: Drive From Kathmandu To Jagat (1300M) 7-8 Hours.

      Today we first head to Besisahar by public bus and then by jeep to Jagat. This drive will introduce you to the type of terrain you will encounter at lower levels of your trek. Tonight we will stay at a teahouse in Jagat.

      This morning we follow a rocky trail along the banks of the Marsyangdi River and steadily head uphill to Tal that lies at 1680 meters; the first village in the Manang district. The trail crosses an extensive flat valley and then ascends up stone steps to 1860 meters to Dharapani where you will see stone chortens (stones inscribed in Sanskrit) commonly found in these Tibetan villages in the region.

      The trail today is one that was previously affected by landslides. We first pass a small village before starting on a gradual uphill trail to Bagarchhap, a characteristic Tibetan style village in the forest. From here we follow the left bank of the river towards Koto, the gateway to the well-liked Nar Phu Valley Trekking route. We have an easy trek from here to Chame, the administrative center of the Manang District.

      Leaving Chame we first pass come to Telekhu Village and on the trail have some superb views of Annapurna and Pisang (6091m). We then re-cross the river on a suspension bridge to the south bank of the Marsyangdi River and then ascend through a pine-forest as we follow a trail through the upper reaches of the Manang valley to Pisang.

      The town of Pisang is the start of our trek into the more remote Upper Manang region. We first head to Braga; a Tibetan village with its distinct architecture and houses that are constructed one upon the other. One of its main attractions is its Gompa (Buddhist temple), the largest in the Manang region. Manang is also a popular place with trekkers and is also an ideal place to acclimatize before heading to higher altitudes.

      Health experts highly recommend that before heading higher that trekkers spend some time acclimatizing. They also suggest staying active. From Manang you will have some truly wonderful views of Annapurna II; Annapurna III (7555m); Gangapurna (7454 m); and in the south to Tilicho (7132 m); and the Grand Barrier (a 7000m ridge) in the west; Chulu West (6583m) and Chulu East (6059m) meters in the north. To further acclimatize we will climb up to Mt. Khangsar (3756m).

      Today we follow the trail to Tilicho Lake located to the west of Manang. After reaching Khangsar Khola (river) we come to Khangsar, a traditional Tibetan village. We then continue until we arrive at Siri Kharka. 

  • Day 9 Day 9: Siri Kharka To Tilicho Base Camp (4140M) 5-6 Hours.

      This morning on the trail we pass a Gompa and then head up to a high ridge. We then follow a newer trail across the ridge before heading down to the valley floor. We then take a trail into a gorge and Tilicho Base Camp (4,200m). 

  • Day 10 Day 10: Hike Up To Tilicho Lake (4,949M) Then Back To Siri Kharka 5-6 Hours.

      Early this morning at around 4:30 am we head to Tilicho Lake and then return to Tilicho Base Camp for our lunch break. We then head to Shree Kharka our overnight destination.

      This morning we begin by descending to Khangsar Village via Tare Gumba (3870m) - known for its Buddhist monastery. We follow the trail through the Thorong Khola Valley until we come to the abandoned village of Old Khangsar before coming to Yak Kharka. 

  • Day 12 Day 12: Yak Kharka To Phedi (4450M) 4-5 Hours.

      As we ascend we gradually get used to the higher altitudes. We follow the trail along the east bank of the Jarang Khola (river) surrounded by steep bluffs before coming to Thorong Phedi (meaning foothills). We may also decide to trek for one more hour to High Camp (4800m). If we are fortunate we may get to see the famous blue sheep and even a snow leopard! This is also home to the Lammergeyer (bearded vulture). There is also a belief the fabled griffons (a creature with a lionโ€™s body & birdโ€™s head) inhabit this region.

  • Day 13 Day 13: Thorong Phedi To Muktinath Via Thorong La Pass (5416M) 8 -9 Hours.

      Today is going to be the toughest day of the trek as we trek for around 8 to 9 hours. The higher altitude adds to the difficulty, and sometimes strong winds in these upper regions make it hard going too. On the trail, we may pass sheep, yaks, and merchants transporting their goods along the trails from Tibet. Once we arrive at Thorong La Pass we will have some marvelous views of Annapurna, Gangapurna, and the eye-catching peak of Khatungkang (6484m). We then descend around 1600 meters where the trail slowly becomes more undulating and relatively easy before we arrive at Muktinath.

      After leaving Muktinath we follow a trail through lush mountain meadows, fruit trees, streams and through Kagbeni before we reach Jomson in the Kali Gandaki Valley. Kagbeni has a reputation for its horticulture industry. Jomson is also well known for its apple cider!

      Today we follow the Kaligandaki River downstream to Tukuche Village that sits beneath the towering Tukuche Peak and Dhaulagiri. We also have some great views of Mt.Nilgiri and the massive glacier on Dhaulagiri east face. Next we come to Larjung Village and then Kalopani Village. Near Kalopani we cross a suspension bridge over the raging Kali Gandaki River. We continue until we come to Kalopani Village from where we can see Mt.Annapurna I, Nilgiri and Dhaulagiri. We then have a short downhill trek to Lete Village.

      This morning we follow the trail to Tatopani, well known for its therapeutic thermal hot springs. It is a great place where you can sit in the hot pools near the river while the sun goes down.

      Today we follow the trail and then cross a suspension bridge over the Kaligandaki River and continue until we come to a junction of two trails from where we head uphill through terraced farms and villages. We then head into a dense rhododendron forest and then arrive at the village of Chitre, and then continue on through more forest until we come to Ghorepani.

      We are up before sunrise and head to Poon Hill. Standing on the hill we can watch the changing light reflect off the surrounding peaks, such as Dhaulagiri (8167m), Annapurna I (8091m), Annapurna II (7937m), Annapurna III (7855m), Annapurna IV (7525m), Annapurna South (729m), Nilgiri (6940m), Tukuche (6920m), Varaha Shikhar (7847m) & Lamjung Himal (6931m). Make sure your camera is ready to go in order to catch that special moment. After Poon Hill, we head back to Ghorepani for breakfast and then head off to Tikhedhunga.

      The trail today is mostly downhill and passes through farming villages with their terraced lands. There are also waterfalls along the way. We first come to the village of Birethanti next to the Modi River where we stop for lunch, From here we head to Nayapul where we take a bus back to Pokhara โ€“ Phewa Tal (lake). You will have time to meander around โ€˜Lakesideโ€™ before our farewell dinner tonight.

  • Day 20 Day 20: Drive From Pokhara To Kathmandu (1,350M) 6-7 Hours.

      This morning we travel by tourist coach or in private vehicle, depending upon the group size, back to Kathmandu and to our hotels in Thamel. There is an option to fly from Pokhara to Kathmandu โ€“ a 30 minute flight.
