  • Day 1 Day 1: Arrive At Chengdu

      Day 1: Arrive At Chengdu

      We will welcome you at the airport and take you to your hotel. You are free to refresh and relax before we hold a briefing about the trip, later in the afternoon. 

      With your guides, you will go through the itinerary and have the opportunity to ask us any questions you may have. After being fully briefed, in the evening, we will hold a welcome dinner to celebrate the beginning of your journey. We will feast on some of the best food Chengdu has to offer and eagerly anticipate the coming journey that lies ahead.

  • Day 2 Day 2: Visit Chengdu Panda Base And Sanxingdui Museum

      Day 2: Visit Chengdu Panda Base And Sanxingdui Museum

      At 08:00am, your guide and driver will pick you up from your hotel in Chengdu. Then you will head for Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding (also known as Chengdu Panda Base) located about 12km north of the city center. It takes 20 to 30 minutes to get there.  

      Found in 1987 with 6 rescued pandas got from the wild, Chengdu Panda Base is now home to 190 (by the end of 2018) giant pandas. You will walk around to the different enclosures and nursery houses, and learn more details about giant pandasโ€™ behaviors, diet, breeding, etc. You will see cubs and adult pandas. Whatโ€™s more, you will also see red pandas there. Between mid-June and early October, you will also have the opportunity to see the newly-born panda cubs.  

      After lunch, you will leave for Sanxingdui Museum, which is an important archaeological discovery and have changed peopleโ€™s understanding of ancient history and culture of Chengdu. 

      Sanxingdui Museum was built on the northeast of Sanxingdui Site, which was the place where large quantities of jade, bronze and gold wares, as well as elephant tusks, were discovered. As an archaeological museum with excellent modern facilities, it is also a gateway to a mysterious civilization that flourished some 5, 000 years ago.

      In the late afternoon we will drive to Dujiangyan and stay overnight there.

  • Day 3 Day 3: Explore Dujiangyan Irrigation System And Mount Qingcheng

      Day 3: Explore Dujiangyan Irrigation System And Mount Qingcheng

      In the morning we will visit Dujiangyan Irrigation System. It was built by the ancient Chinese over 2,250 years ago. In order to control floods and in the meanwhile irrigate the farmland across Chengdu plain, the ancient Chinese constructed this huge project, which has made Chengdu one of the richest regions of China during the past 2,000 years. The construction of this project is an ancient technological wonder of the country. We will spend about 1.5 hours walking around and learn about how it works.  

      We will have lunch at a local restaurant in Dujiangyan and in the afternoon we will explore Mount Qingcheng. This beautiful Taoism mountain is a good combination of beautiful nature and Taoism culture. We will explore the traditional architectures of the temples scattered in the woods and mountains.  

      In the late afternoon, We will drive to Jiezi Ancient Town and take a visit of this beautiful riverside town located at the transition area of Chengdu Plain and the Tibetan Plateau.

      Day 4: Explore The Museum Town Of Anren

      Today we will head for Anren Ancient Town located about 40 kilometers away. Anren is a beautiful prosperous town located on the Chengdu Plain. Itโ€™s known as Chengduโ€™s Museum Town, because there are some interesting museums here.  

      In Anren we will explore Jianchuan Museum and Liuโ€™s Mansion Museum. At the first museum, you will not only learn about the 2008 Sichuan Earthquake and Sichuan peopleโ€™s contributions to the anti-Japanese war in 1930s and 1940s, but also the traditional lifestyle of the Chinese, such as traditional Chinese furnitures, medicine, and articles of daily use. While at the second museum you will see the traditional house and courtyard of Liu Wencaiโ€™s family. Liu was the richest man in Sichuan Province in 1930s and 1940s. 

      In the late afternoon, we will drive to Leshan located about 130 kilometers south. It takes about 2 hours to get there. On the way you will see the beautiful countryside of Chengdu Plain.

  • Day 5 Day 5: Leshan-Mount Emei

      Day 5: Leshan-Mount Emei

      In the morning, We will visit Leshan Giant Buddha, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site. As the worldโ€™s largest Buddha statue, Leshan Giant Buddha was carved from the cliff at the confluence of three rivers. By standing closer to him, you could feel the grandeur of this 71-meter-tall statue. From the year AD713 to 803, the ancient Chinese spent 90 years building this huge project hoping that it would protect them from the floods in summer.

      We will walk around the big statue and then walk from its head to its big feet to take a close look at it. After that, we will continue to explore the other parts of the mountain and visit the less-explored beautiful gardens and temples.  

      Then we will drive about 40 minutes to Mount Emei, which is one of the most famous Buddhism mountains in China. We will first take a visit of Baoguo Temple and Emeishan Museum at the foot of the mountain. Then we will take the sightseeing bus to the middle part of the mountain and visit Wannian Temple, which is the largest Buddhism temple in Mount Emei. The temple has a 400-year-old brick architecture, which is quite worth a visit. 

      We will stay overnight at a hotel near Wannian Temple. In the late afternoon we will check in at the hotel. After that, if you like, you may walk around to explore.

      Overnight: a 3-star standard hotel in the middle part of Mount Emei

  • Day 6 Day 6: Mount Emei-Zigong

      After breakfast we will take the sightseeing bus up the mountain to Leidongping. Our destination is Golden Summit, which is the top of Mount Emei, with an altitude of 3,077 meters above sea level. If the weather is good and clear, you will have the opportunity to see snow-capped peaks about 150 kilometers away, which are in the Tibetan area of Sichuan Province. The top of Mount Emei is also famous for its beautiful cloud sea. You will have the opportunity to see clouds below you when standing on the top.  

      When finishing the visit, we will take the sightseeing bus down the mountain before meeting the driver and heading for Zigong. Zigong is another beautiful riverside town in south Sichuan, and it is famous for dinosaur fossils, salt industry, teahouses and delicious food.

      Today we will first visit Zigong Salt Industry History Museum and learn about the history and culture of salt as well as why Zigong has been known as Chinaโ€™s โ€™Salt Capitalโ€™. We will learn about the tools and techniques that have been used in the salt industry since over 2,000 years ago. The traditional architectures and wooden sculptures in the museum are also quite worth your visit.  

      Then we will walk to Wangye Temple Teahouse and enjoy a cup of tea there. This riverside teahouse was once named as Sichuanโ€™s No. 1 Teahouse by BBC.  It is a popular place for locals to relax and enjoy the beautiful riverside view with family and friends.  

      After enjoying our tea, we will drive to Shenhai Well for a visit. This was the worldโ€™s first 1,000-meter-deep well. It was built in 1830s and people could get brine and natural gas from underground. It is still used today and salt is still produced here. You will have the opportunity to walk into the workshop and learn something about the process of salt production.  

      We will have lunch in a local restaurant and try some authentic Zigong dishes. After lunch we will visit Zigong Dinosaur Museum. The museum sits on top of a large concentration of a diverse dinosaur assemblage. It claims the largest number of dinosaur fossils in the world. The museum exhibits fossils of dinosaurs that have been excavated here. This is Chinaโ€™s first museum located at the actual burial site of dinosaurs. You will absolutely learn a lot about the dinosaurs at this great museum. 

      We will drive back to Chengdu in the late afternoon.
