Additionally, please note that during the months of March to May and September to November, all flights will depart from Ramechhap.       Your adventure begins at Kathmandu. A representative from Sherpa Expedition and Trekking will greet you at the airport and take you to your hotel in Thamel where you can do any last-minute shopping or wander around the narrow winding streets of Thamel.

      We have an early morning 30 to 40 minute scenic flight from Kathmandu to Tenzing-Hilary Airport at Lukla from where we head out on the trail to Phakding following along the banks of the Dudh Koshi River.

      The trail today is not very tiring as we follow the trail and cross over several bridges on the Dudh Kosi River via a trail through the gorgeous villages of Toc-Toc, Benkar, and Monjo before coming to the official entrance to Sagarmatha National Park. The trail then heads along the river flats for several hours and then we cross the final bridge before climbing a steep hill to reach Namche Bazaar, a thriving modern town with many facilities such as restaurants, hotels, internet cafes, and banks. 

  • Day 4 Day 4: Rest Day And Acclimatization At Namche Bazaar.

      Today has deliberately been set aside in order acclimatize, which is essential before heading to the higher altitudes later on.  Health experts suggest staying active during this time in order to benefit from the acclimatization process. We can choose from several options in order to stay active. We can trek to Thame or maybe visit Khunde or use this time to explore Namche Bazaar and visit the popular weekly market on Friday evening and on Saturday morning. Your guide can also take you to the Tourist Visitor Center close to the headquarters of the Sagarmatha National Park that has a charming display of equipment and remnants from the first Everest climbers. This is also an chance for you to learn about the flora and fauna of the region.

      Today we follow the trail to Dole along an undulating and rocky trail. After trekking for about 2 hours we come to Mong La Pass (3957 m/12982 ft) from where we have astonishing views of Mt. Ama Dablam and Mt. Khumbila. The trail then descends through forests to Photse Tenga a relatively small village located next to the river. We then pass through many pine and rhododendron forests that in spring are in full bloom with white, pink, and red flowers.

      As we follow the trail to higher elevations we pass alpine meadows where yaks graze and trailside shrines and Tibetan prayer flags. Mt. Cho Oyu (5th tallest mountain in the world) can be seen from here. The trail then heads to the small village of Lapahrma and then to Luja. We continue to follow the trail along the side of the valley above the river before arriving at Machhermo.

      Today we climb higher through alpine fields where yaks can be seen grazing before coming to Phanga Village. There are memorials along the trail of people who died in landslides in the region. We will also pass Longponga at 4690 meters. We then descend before coming to the river at which point we head higher. We then cross the bridge and come to Gokyo with its turquoise blue lakes encircled by snow-covered peaks and glaciers.

      This will be our second day where we have to take time out to acclimatize. We can explore the valley to assist the process and climb Gokyo RI (5,430m) from where there are some impressive panoramic views of Everest and other peaks. We will then head back to Gokyo for lunch and then explore the surrounding countryside including the higher lakes.

      Today we pass the Ngozumpa Glacier as we head along a rocky and undulating trail. As we get closer to Thangnak we will see more yak grazing land. We then descend to the valley across the moraine and will also have some great views over the surrounding terrain. We continue before coming to Thangnak that is an ideal starting point before tomorrowโ€™s trek over Cho La Pass.

      In the early hours of the morning, we head to Cho La Pass and will be rewarded with excellent views of Cho La Lake and Mt. Cholatse. We then descend along and icy trail with glaciers nearby. On the trail, there are many colorful Tibetan prayer flags. We continue until we come to Dzongla.

      The trail leading from Dzongla ascends to a shrine and through a broad valley. We then cross a glacial moraine and will pass several small lodges along the way. The trail then heads higher passing a memorial for trekkers who died while attempting to climb these mountains. This is an pleasant part of the trail as we head up the Imja Khola Valley until we come to Lobuche.

      Today we ascend higher and along the trail pass Gorak Shep Lake and then arrive at a memorial that honors Indian mountaineers who have died on attempts to climb Mt.Everest.  At this altitude it is difficult and physically exhausting as a result of the thinner air at these altitudes. The trail is rocky, with moraine and streams to cross before coming to EBC. On arrival at EBC you will see many colorful tents of mountaineers waiting for the perfect conditions before attempting a climb to the peak. From EBC we can see Nuptse, Khumbutse and Pumori and the snow glistening on their peaks. After a rest and look around EBC we then descend back to Gorakshep.

      Before sunrise we head out on the trail and head up to Kala Patthar to catch the sunrise over the mountains. It is said to be one of the best places anywhere in Nepal to view Mt. Everest and other magnificent Himalayan peaks. We then head back to Gorakshep for breakfast before boarding our helicopter flight to Kathmandu. The views as you climb from Gorakshep are breathtaking as you look down over the mountains that you previously trekked through.

  • Day 14 Day 14: Transfer To Tribhuwan International Airport.

      Your Nepal adventure and trek to EBC ends today as our representative takes you to the airport approximately 3 hours before your scheduled flight. On your way home you will have time to consider your next adventure to Nepal and into the Himalayan Mountains. Sherpa Expedition & Trekking will gladly assist you.
