      Sherpa Expedition & Trekking staff will be there to greet you at Tribhuvan International Airport and take you to your hotel, followed by a briefing where you will meet your trek leader and go over the details of the trek. Please bring to the meeting: your passport, three passport-size photos and a readable copy of your travel insurance policy. During this meeting, you will be asked to clear any outstanding balance for the trek. You will also be required to sign the legally binding trip form as well as a no-liability disclaimer.

      Our journey starts with a 6 - 7 hour drive to Pokhara Valley with its beautiful Phewa Tal (lake) and then checking in to your hotel close to Phewa Tal. There is ample to see and do along Lakeside with its many shops, bars and restaurants to choose from. Sitting by the lake watching the sunset is a great way to end the day.

      We will drive for about 1:25 hours from Pokhara via the pretty Lumle Village that sits perched on the mountainside and then head to Nayapul (1050m). The Poon Hill trek begins at Nayapul and after a 30-minute trek along the banks of the Modi Khola (river) we come to Birethanti Village where you will be asked to show your tourist permit at the checkpoint. The trail then heads through the gorgeous rhododendron forest following along the banks of the Modi Khola River with a short stop at a teahouse along the way, and after a 3 - 4-hour trek we arrive at the lush green village of Tikhedhunga. We can also choose to continue trekking further to Ulleri Village (2070m).

      Today we begin with a 2-hour steep climb up to Ulleri (2070m) and then to the Magar village of Banthanti where we have some mind-blowing views of Mt. Machapuchare (Fishtail - 6997m), Hiunchuli (6441m) and Annapurna South (7219m). We continue along the trail through a luxuriant pink - flowering rhododendron forest and cross a bridge before arriving at Ghorepani where you have views of several huge peaks, such as Dhaulagiri, Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and Annapurna looming in the background. This is an extraordinary place to sit back, relax, and take in the superb mountain views.

      Poon Hill is well known for offering some of the very best views of the Annapurna Ranges โ€“ especially at sunrise and sunset. An early start at around 5 a.m. will see us arrive the Poon Hill viewpoint where we can watch the sunrise and the changing colors reflecting off the mountains, including Dhaulagiri (8167m), Annapurna I  (8091m), Annapurna II  (7937m), Annapurna III  (7855m), Annapurna IV (7525m), Annapurna South (729m), Nilgiri  (6940m), Tukuche  (6920m), Varaha Shikhar (7847m) & Lamjung Himal (6931m). Make sure your camera batteries are fully charged. We will then return for our breakfast at Ghorepani, after which we head to Tatopani Village via the scenic trail passing through Deurali (meaning a ridge in Nepali) until we reach Tatopani Village.

      We follow the trail up the Kali Gandaki Gorge, believed to be the deepest gorge in the world, lodged between the two enormous 800-meter peaks of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri. The trail heads higher to Dana (1400m) and then to Rupse Chhahara (1550m) where a beautiful waterfall plunges down into the river. After crossing to the east bank of the river we come to a suspension bridge and cross over to Kopche Pani, a small Magar village famous for its temple on the hill (2121m). We then have a short uphill climb to Ghasa where we stay the night.

      We will cross over to the east bank of the river and trek along the riverbank until again crossing back to the west side before coming to Larjung Village (2560m) sitting at the base of the mountains and with a spectacular background of the Annapurna Ranges. We continue on until we arrive at the village of Khobang located beside the Kali Gandaki River. There are some quaint narrow lanes to walk around in this ancient Thakali (caste) village.

      Today we continue along the edge of the valley to Jomsom (2743m). Jomsom is a large settlement and administrative center of the Mustang region. We continue our trek and cross to the east side of the river until we reach Eklai Bhatti (2730m) where the junction on the trail heads east to Muktinath and Thorong La Pass (5416m). We follow the trail along the riverbank until we arrive at Kagbeni (2810m) which is located at the junction of the Jhong Khola & the Kali Gandaki (rivers). Kagbeni is an attractive village with its classic Tibetan culture and wonderfully friendly villagers with beautiful smiling faces.

      Today begins with a steep climb up the Jhong Khola Valley until we reach a crossroad at which point we take the trail to Muktinath located just below Khingar (3374m). The trail continues along the higher banks of the Jhong Khola (river) until we reach the fascinating village of Jharkot (3500m) where we stop for lunch. We then continue on to Muktinath and first arrive at Ranipauwa, a flourishing small village with many teahouses and shops not too far from Muktinath. A little further along the trail, we come to Muktinath (Tibetan - Chumig Gyatsa) well-known for its Vishnu temple that is sacred to both Hindus and Buddhists, located in Muktinath Valley at the foot of the Thorong La Pass. It is said to be one of the worldโ€™s highest temples. Every year Buddhists and Hindus, as well as sadhus (holy men) from India, make pilgrimage here. Bathing in these 108 waterspouts and two Kunda (ponds) is believed to bring salvation.

      Leaving Muktinath we trek through lush green meadows, past orchards, and streams before arriving at Jomsom situated in the Kali Gandaki Valley. A minor detour leads us to Bon Punt monastery in Lubra. Bon-Po, as a religion, is believed to be older than Buddhism. Lubra, with just 14 families, is one of the few Bonpo villages in Nepal. The village of Kagbeni has a well-earned reputation for its horticulture industry.

      It is our last day on the trail as we head to the airport at Jomsom where we take a short 15 to 20-minute flight to Pokhara. Once airborne you have some fantastic birds-eye views of the Himalayas. This evening you can relax and enjoy a drink or two and look back on your incredible adventure through the Annapurna Conservation Area, or take a walk along Lakeside. Other attractions in Pokhara are the World Peace Pagoda (clearly visible across Phewa Tal (lake),  Bindabasini Temple, Phewa Lake, Matepani Buddhist Monastery, International Mountain Museum and Deviโ€™s Falls. 

  • Day 12 Day 12: Drive Back To Kathmandu (1,400 M) Duration 6-7 Hours.

      Today we head by bus back to Kathmandu with many loving memories of Nepal and its unique culture and geography. These memories will be with you forever!
