Often the Kathmandu-Lukla-Kathmandu flight gets delayed by a few hours or may even be canceled for one, two, or more days due to unfavorable weather conditions. Such conditions may arise even in the best seasons. Hence, in such cases, you must be prepared for long waits both at Kathmandu or Lukla airports, as this can happen either at the start or end of the trek or even both! We do our utmost to avoid such delays, and fix you on next flight. Still, we suggest you to be prepared for possible delays/cancellation, and if possible to come with some extra buffer days (1-2 days) at the end of the trip to accommodate such delays. We also organize heli rescue in such conditions, if itโ€™s available and upon request by our clients. The helicopter charges around USD 4400 and it can lift 4-5 persons per flight. If everything runs smoothly and if interested, you can also enjoy other activities like sightseeing, rafting, wildlife activities, shopping, etc during your buffer days. Sometime Kathmandu-lukla-kathmanduflight gets delayed or cancelled by unfavorable weather for some hours or a days.This kind of situation will be happened anytime in year around. So in this case you must prepared for long waits in both way and fix you on next flight. If it delay for long time we will organize heli rescue in such conditions, If it available and upon request of our guests. The heli charge will be around USD 4400 and it lift 4-5 people per flight. If everything is normal, you can also enjoy other activities like as rafting, In case, the flight delay/cancellation happens at the start of trip and it goes so long that it disturbs your onward travel schedule, you are free to choose an alternative trip: such a trek in the Annapurna, Langtang, or any other regions. If you are not interested in the alternative trip and would rather wait for the trip, you are welcome to wait in Kathmandu for as many days as it takes to get a flight to Lukla. However, please note that there will be no refund, if you lose your time waiting at the airport and do not take an alternative tour or you only do short trek later due to time limitation. If the cancellation happens before the trip, we will provide you accommodation and lunch in a guesthouse in Kathmandu. In case of the flight delay/cancelation after finishing of the trek, you will be responsible for all your expenses. Please also note that you will not be entitled to any refund for the services (such as hotel, transport, flight, etc) included in the package that you would not use later.

      The early flight to Lukla from Kathmandu airport after breakfast is thirty minutes of breathtaking mountain views. From the Tenzing-Hillary Airport, we move on to meet the rest of the crew and make arrangements and final preparations. The hike to Phakding takes around three hours and passes the Chaurikharka village to follows the Dudhkoshi River, a short one to assist acclimatization. Overnight stay in a lodge.

      Todayโ€™s walk starts along with pine forests and pasture lands with several suspension bridges to cross at various points of the Dudh Koshi River. Upon reaching the confluence of Dudh Koshi and BhoteKoshi, the climb becomes steeper. After walking for about two hours, we reach a viewpoint giving the first sight of Mount Everest. After passing Jorsale, we reach Namche Bazaar, the gateway to Everest and a trading center as well where we take rest for the day.

      Namche Bazaar, the biggest settlement in the Khumbu region, is well facilitated with ATMs, Internet cafes, restaurants, bakeries et cetera. Although itโ€™s rest day for acclimatization, we go for a short hike to a nearby viewpoint (Thame or Khunde) and take a tour of the place including the Tourist Visitor Center where information about Everest climbers, Sherpa people and their culture and flora and fauna of the region are briefed.

      We start our walk early in the morning to get clear views of mountain ranges including Everest, Lhotse, AmaDablam, and Thamserku. The trail takes a wavy path along which the pleasing vegetation and animals such as musk deer, Himalayan Thar, pheasant et cetera keep company. Passing Kayangjuma after a downhill, we reach the junction to EBC and Gokyo valley. From here, we climb to Mong La pass where the sacredKhumbilais a charming presence. Passing Mong La, Rhododendron forests and wildflowers get abundant, and so does animal life. Passing a few waterfalls and bridges, we reach the small village of Dole. Overnight stay.

      After climbing a ridge, the trail moves through Lhabarma and to Luza where we pass summer settlements of the locals. Views of Kantega, Cho Oyu and Thamserku stay with us as we walk along the trail. Passing small villages on the way, the scenic hillside walk leads continues with views of the deep Dudh Koshi valley. The five-hour walk ends at Machhermo, our stop for the day. A beautiful stream that originates from KyajoRi and PhariLapche runs through this village where you can hear stories on the first sighting of Yeti.

      From Machhermo, the trail ascends to a Chorten through a ridge where views of Thamserku, Kangtega, and Cho-Oyu along with the valleys below are magnificent. The valley slowly widens as the easy trail passes another Chorten and reaches Pangka. Descending to the river bank, we then begin our steep climb to the moraine of Ngozamba Glacier. We pass through the mesmerizing natural beauty of the turquoise lakes Longpongo and TabocheTsho and reach a third lake, DudhPokhari, where the Gokyo village is situated. With the backdrop of Cho-Oyo, the beautiful and well-facilitated village and its outstanding periphery is our shelter after this adventurous day.

      We start early today to Gokyo Ri (5360m) which lies above the village. The steep climb of about four hours to the top is quite strenuous, yet rewards with one of the best views of Everest, Makalu, and Lhotse among others. The fourth, fifth and sixth lakes also lie along the way. We further take a short walk to Machhermo, where we stay for the night in a teahouse.

      The trail leads to Ngozumpa Glacier from where we take a steep descent towards the river. We climb to a ridge where exotic views of Cho Oyu and the valley of Kentega below on clear days. Descending down the ridge, we reach Phortse, where we stay overnight at a guesthouse.

      Descending along the busy trail through forests of rhododendron, fir, and the juniper we reach the bridge of Phungitenga after which the climb is steep for about an hour. The walk further on to Namche is long and winding and passes traditional Sherpa villages of Khumjung and Khunde. We also pass a monastery that preserves the only Yeti Scalp, and Khunde Hospital which is funded by Sir Edmund Hillary Trust. We descend further to Monjo and stay overnight in a lodge.

      The trek back to Lukla a pleasant on except for some short climbs. After crossing the BhoteKoshi River a couple of times, the last 45 minutes to Lukla is an uphill climb. This marks the end of our trek. We spend a night in a lodge.
