Hike Through Java Jungle And Explore Waterfalls, Lakes And Local Culture

Itinerary

Day 1: Local history and hot spring bath

Pass By: Yogyakarta, Yogyakarta City, Special Region of Yogyakarta, Indonesia
We will meet at the train station and head deeper into Central Java by train

Stop At: Baturaden Botanical Garden, Jl. Raya Baturaden, Purwokerto 53124 Indonesia
Once we arrive we will be picked up by car and taken to our hotel for check in and lunch.

We will then go for a tour of the iconic park at the top of a mountain. We will learn a little bit about the history of the local area and see how the locals spend their free time. You will be able to try some very local snacks, traditional to the area.

Walking past the waterfall, we will hike up some stairs deeper into the jungle where we will be able to relax in a hot spring bath surrounded by nature.

To finish the day, we will indulge in some gastronomic local food in a gazebo located on fish ponds.

Day 2: Jungle waterfalls exploration

Stop At: Baturaden, Baturaden, Central Java, Java
What we'll do:
This is a very exciting day as we will discover 7 different waterfalls at 3 different sites located in the jungle.

We will meet at 8:30am and head to:
- Green Jewel waterfall (2 different waterfalls)
- Lunch in the rice fields
- Twin waterfall (2 different waterfalls)
- Three kings waterfall (3 different waterfalls)
- Dinner at local traditional Javanese restaurant

The first two waterfall sites are tucked away and I consider them as secret gardens. Only very few locals know about these places and they have been preserved in their natural state. The water is pure and clean fresh from the springs. We will be able to jump and slide down the rocks.

We will have lunch in a very cute little flower garden in the rice fields. The meals are cooked fresh and the vegetables are straight from the garden. My personal favorite eating place.

The third waterfall site has 3 waterfalls. The first one is behind a cave. The second one has a platform to jump off from for the more daring ones (about 6 meter high). And the third waterfall is accessed by hiking through a jungle path. It is a nice big waterfall surrounded by lush green nature. A majestic place.

As for dinner, we will eat traditional Javanese food before heading back to the hotel where we will rest for the next day.

Where we’ll be:
We will discover tucked away secret gardens. Swim in pure and clean spring water waterfalls surrounded by the jungle.

Day 3: Experience traditional Java life

Stop At: Karangtengah, Cilongok, Banyumas, Central Java, Indonesia
What we’ll do:
We will leave the hotel at 8:30am and head to a small traditional village nonexistent on Google Maps. We will see how simple the locals live far away from the big cities.

We will first arrive at a natural pond and take a very relaxing paddle boat stroll around it.
Within a short walk we will see a nice lookout.

We will then head to a local house to see their way of living where we will have lunch cooked by them and just for us, in their traditional methods of cooking.

After that we will make our way to a jungle pond, surrounded by thick nature.

Then we will go to Monkey waterfall which is 92 meters in height making it one of the tallest waterfalls of Indonesia. The jungle is filled with monkeys, hence the name.

To finish up the day, we will go to another lookout with nice photo opportunities where we will have a BBQ on site.

Where we’ll be:
We will discover the simple local way of living in an authentic Javanese village far away from the big cities.

Day 4: From tosca colored natural pools to volcanic waterfalls

Stop At: Baturaden Botanical Garden, Jl. Raya Baturaden, Purwokerto 53124 Indonesia
What we’ll do:
We will start at 8:30am heading to our first waterfall.
We will then head to a natural spring pond making our way up a river in the middle of the jungle. The pond is so clean, pure and fresh that the water appears to be tosca colored. However, it is completely see-through. We will be able to jump and swim in the pond. This is one of my personal favorite place to swim since the water is just so beautiful.

We will then head to a pine tree forest with a nice lookout where we will have a picnic.

On the way to our next location we will stop at a small waterfall where near by you will be able to do a fish pedicure (only if you want to). At that waterfall we will have a quick jump into it and then head to our next location.

The final site for the day is a one of its kind experience. We will take a hike through the jungle and head towards a valley where the volcano is located. What makes this place so unique is that very hot water comes out of the volcano. You will experience a massage with Sulphur by the locals which is very good for the skin.
There is also a hot waterfall in which we will be able to stand under and take some amazing photos.

Where we’ll be:
Each place is completely pure and natural. Only very few locals know about these locations. The fresh water spring pond and the volcanic waterfall is absolutely unique and an amazing experience.

Day 5: Heading back to our starting point in Yogyakarta

Stop At: Yogyakarta, Yogyakarta, Yogyakarta Region, Java
What we’ll do:
This is where our adventure sadly ends until next time. We will catch the train in the morning and head back to our starting point in Yogyakarta.
You will leave with great memories and photos of a true Indonesia adventure which only a few locals know about.

Where we’ll be:
We will wake up early, have breakfast and check out of the hotel. Head to the train station and go back to our starting point in Yogyakarta
