Accommodation

Guesthouse โ€“ Basic but comfortable. Fanned rooms, usually 2 to 6 people per room. Western bathroom facilities and Wi-Fi. All guesthouses are centrally located, so we are right in the heart of the action and can walk to many of the best places to go. Raft Houses โ€“ During our time in Khao Sok National Park, weโ€™ll stay in floating bamboo huts. The huts are basic but comfortable, usually 2 to 6 people. Each room has its own kayak, which you are free to use whenever you want! This is definitely one for the nature lovers!

      Welcome To Thailand

      Sawa Dee Kah โ€“ welcome! Our member of our local team will be waiting for you at the airport, holding a PMGY sign. Weโ€™ll take you to the guesthouse on Koh San Road where you can relax and meet the others from the group. This day is just an arrival day โ€“ your peers will arrive across this period. This is therefore your chance to recover from your jet-lag and start making new friends! Depending on what time everyone arrives, our local team may start their introductions in the evening, before proceeding with the rest of the orientation tomorrow. If youโ€™re not then too tired after your long flight, weโ€™ve planned an evening out โ€“ the perfect way to break the ice and get everyone talking! Meals included: NULL

  • Day 2 Orientation & Time To Explore Bangkok

      Orientation & Time To Explore Bangkok

      After a good nightโ€™s rest, itโ€™s time to begin your Thailand gap year experience! Our team will show the group around the local Bangkok area. You will be offered the chance to exchange money and pick-up anything you may need from the local shops. Across this orientation day, PMGYโ€™s local coordinators will give you the lowdown on everything you need to know for this gap year Thailand experience trip. This will include an insight into Thai culture, safety issues, and important words and phrases in Thai. Weโ€™ll also give you a more detailed rundown of the itinerary and answer any burning questions you may have. Weโ€™ll also head over to JJ Market, Bangkokโ€™s famous weekend market. Home to over 8,000 stalls, JJ Market is a shoppers paradise โ€“ bargains galore! This is a great chance to pick-up any bits youโ€™ll need for your trip. Youโ€™ll also have the opportunity to practice your bartering skills โ€“ our local team will be on hand to make you get the best deal possible! Why not try some street food along the way? The team will arrange a tuk tuk ride to JJ Market for you so you can enjoy the traditional Thailand transport experience! In the evening, weโ€™ll then take the air-con sleeper train to Surat Thani. This journey will take around 11 hours. Straight after, we will take the local bus to Khao Sok National Park, which takes around a couple of hours. Meals included: Breakfast

  • Day 3 Park Life
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Park Life

      We arrive at Khao Sok National Park on Monday morning. Weโ€™ll check into the raft house at around 11am and take a couple of hours to relax, swim and go for a kayak. Khao Sok National Park covers 739 square kilometres and is an area of extreme natural beauty. It is covered by the oldest evergreen rainforest in the world. Strikingly, youโ€™ll also find huge limestone mountains, deep valleys, breathtaking lakes, exciting caves and wild animals to marvel at. Weโ€™ll be staying in floating raft houses on Cheow Larn Lake. The lake is a massive man-made structure, located in the heart of the national park. This will be a sight not to forget as you find yourself surrounded by magnificent karst mountains. Itโ€™s a really amazingly peaceful setting. The raft houses are basic but you have your own kayak outside, which you are free to use whenever you want โ€“ itโ€™s going to be a great few days! In the evening weโ€™ll have a boat cruise to explore more of Khao Sok National Park. Weโ€™ll return to the raft house as it begins to get dark and have a group dinner and hang out for the rest of the evening โ€“ all whilst floating on top of Cheow Larn Lake!
