Baku is the capital of Azerbaijan, as well as the political and cultural center of the country. Located on the bank of the Caspian Sea, Baku enjoys sea breeze all the year round. Hence it was named the City of Wind. Today, we will first visit the Heydar Aliyev Cultural Center from the exterior. The design of this fashion building was inspired by the rolling sea waves, so it looks different from different angles. Next we will pay a visit to the Baku Conference Hall and the Highland Park to have a bird’s-eye view of the whole city and the Caspian Sea. Later we will head for the Flame Towers, which looks like flickering flames from the outside. Then we will spend some time in the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum to appreciate a variety of carpets made of different materials and by different ways. After that, we will wander around the neighboring Little Venice and enjoy the seaside scenery along the Baku Boulevard. After lunch, let’s go to Nizami Street, the largest shopping street in Baku. This morning, we will drive for about 50 minutes for Gobustan to visit the Mud Volcano, where we can see cold mud bubbling at the crater. Then we will go to the Gobustan Museum and Gobustan Rocks to enjoy the time-honored rock paintings. The tour guide will explain the implications in these rock paintings and show you how primitive human beings made rock paintings. After visiting Bibi-Heybat Mosque and world’s first industrially drilled oil well, we will have lunch. After lunch, we will drive for Atashgah, a holy place for Zoroastrianism. There, we will take a tour around the Atashgah Zoroastrian Fire Temple first and then drive 30 minutes to the Burning Mountain. Afterward, we will return to the hotel in Baku by car.
