Day 2 Thunderball Grotto

Thunderball Grotto

The Thunderball Grotto is a famous cay in the Exumas, one of the Bahamas islands that is a major destination. It is famous for the James Bond Cave, which is where several 007 movies have been shot. From Nassau’s head South to The Thunderball Grotto is accessible by ferry, which is for sure an interesting 80 miles trip. The activities involve Snorkeling, kayaking, and paddleboarding, shark watching and petting, scuba diving, watching Iguanas, and swimming with the swimming pigs. You can also indulge in enthralling beach sports. The Thunderball Grotto is surrounded by other cays, most notable the Staniel cay and the Big Major Cay. After breakfast, you will be transferred on the ferry to Thunderball Grotto for a day of adventure in the clear waters. The views of the cays and Thunderball Grotto are scenic, and the tropical weather is just perfect for the day’s activities. You can begin with a snorkeling adventure in the deep, clear blue waters, guided by experienced guides who know just the right places for you to view the fish and beautiful coral reefs. You will then experience the Exuma wildlife where you can indulge in activities such as shark watching and petting, feeding the pigs. You can also add to the thrill by swimming with the sharks and the swimming pigs, which are part of the rich history of the Thunderball Grotto. All this time, you will be in the company of a guide who will explain to you the rich history of the Thunderball Grotto. This site has been used to film 2 James Bond movies, and as such, some dive sites are named after him. There are plane wrecks in the water, which were bombers used in World War II, which will tickle the nerves of any scuba diver. The Thunderball Grotto provides diving depths of between 30 and 45 feet which are more than enough for an unforgettable adventure. You can conclude this activity by watching, feeding, and walking with the iguanas at the Guana Cays as you enjoy the scenic views of the white sandy beach. In the afternoon, you get to indulge with the locals, learn their history, culture and sample the foods. The menus provide an opportunity to try the Bahamian and Exuman shafish fry, coconut shrimp, Bahamian Rock Lobster, cracker spiny lobster, and the Bahamian seasoned and smoked pig. Today you will be picked up at the hotel lobby at 10 am You will navigate the excursion in a 4×4 ATV, where the first stop will be at Fort Charlotte. Here, you will learn the rich history of the fort, which was a haven for pirates. You can take pictures of the 200-year-old dungeons before proceeding to Fort Fincastle. Our guides will show you the historic cannons that are still preserved to date. You will then proceed to the historic 102-foot Queens Staircase, which was carved from stone. After 2 hours in the forts, you will take a guided tour of the Arawak Cay. Here, you can sample the Indian Fish Fry at the Marina Village. From here, our guides will take you to the caves of New Providence, where you can take pictures. The next stop will be at the John Watling’s Distillery and the Bahamas Rum cake factory, a must-visit. From here, you can cool the mid-morning sun the Bahamas Tasty Teas. We recommend the tasty “swicha” that is made from Persian limes and other citrus fruits. For lunch, our guides will recommend the best restaurants for a variety of cuisines and exemplary service.
