English Speaking Local Guide in Darjeeling and Gangtok. At GeTS, we aim to support local guides who have specialized and comprehensive knowledge of the regions you visit. We provide English speaking local guides at each destination of your trip, the chosen local guide will strike a great balance between knowledgeable storytelling, humor, and giving you sufficient space and personal time to enjoy the awe-inspiring sites. He will provide information on the places you are travelling through, offer suggestions for things to do and see, recommend great local eating venues. If you were interested in diving deeper into the local culture at a specific site, you can count on your assigned local speaking guide.

Accommodation

โ€ข Accommodation in 3 Star hotels. โ€ข Check-in Time : Throughout the trip, we request all our hotels prepare rooms in time as per your arrival time, especially if you are reaching the hotel prior to normal check-in time. (In India, normal check-in is at 14:00 hrs, check-out is at 10:00 hrs). This may not be always possible to manage early check-in for you; in that case you wonโ€™t be able to check-in immediately on arrival at some hotels. Instead, you can store your luggage and explore the new destination. โ€ข Pre/Post Accommodation : If youโ€™ve purchased pre-trip or post-trip accommodation (if available), you may be required to change rooms from your trip accommodation for these extra nights. โ€ข Internet : Depending on the areas in which you travel, you may have limited access to the Internet. Hoteliers often charge for the connection (hourly or daily). โ€ข The style of accommodation indicated is a guideline. On rare occasions, if the suggested hotels are not available because of high demand, we book the alternate similar hotels for you.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS โ€ขTiger Hill in Darjeeling cannot be guaranteed at the time of sunrise as there is a limitation on the total number of vehicles permitted to visit every day, in case the visit cannot be done early in the morning, the point will be visited anytime during the day. โ€ขFor Tiger Hill visit coupons have to be obtained one day earlier from the traffic. As per the latest guidelines once coupon is obtained if for any reason tourists decide not to visit Tiger Hill, the coupon has to be returned to the traffic within 1000 hrs along with a note signed by the guest mentioning the reason why they decided not to visit. Due to this many times drivers get delayed to report for sightseeing, if this is not done by the drivers they are blacklisted from visiting Tiger Hill for 30 days. โ€ขTibetan Refugee Centre in Darjeeling and Cottage Industry in Gangtok have only opened the emporiums for visitors at the moment and visit to the workshops is restricted. โ€ขSikkim is plastic free as such plastic water bottles are not available/allowed in Sikkim. Guests are advised to carry steel/glass reusable bottles and they can fill RO/filtered water from the hotels. โ€ขCurrently there is no extra certificate/RT PCR required to visit Bengal and Sikkim, however the guests are advised to be fully vaccinated and WHO approved vaccinated certificates. โ€ขHowever Please note: Time to time Government may change or modify the regulation & will be apply accordingly. We request you to kindly cross check this at the time of booking/operation also. Also note that due to Covid Pandemic some time authority will change the regulation at the last minute also. โ€ขSome Monasteries in remote areas are open to visit, but the visit is possible provided the caretaker is available as many times the caretakers move to other monasteries for prayers. Sikkim Inner Line & Restricted Area Permit ยญ SIKKIM INNERLINE PERMIT โ€“ To enter Sikkim, Foreign Nationals are required to obtain Sikkim Inner Line Permit and it will be obtained at Check Post while going from Darjeeling - Gangtok. In the wake of the ensuing COVID crisis, we have re-invented our hygiene protocols and have taken concrete steps along with training our guides, drivers, representatives and other staff at our destinationsโ€™ offices. So, we are fully prepared for your safe travel. 1.Hotels will conduct thermal screening of guests, baggage screening, maintaining kitchen hygiene, smooth check-in and check-out process along with daily cleaning of rooms. 2.Our drivers/representatives will be wearing masks, using hand sanitizers & gloves, and undergoing thermal screening before every assignment. The vehicles too will be sanitized on a daily basis. 3.Our guides will be wearing masks and using hand sanitizers, gloves, and undergoing thermal screening before every assignment. 4.All public places at Airports/Railway Stations/Restaurants and other assisting staff therein shall be governed by the regulations laid down for the prevention of COVID 19. 5.Extensive COVID-19 Health & Safety guidelines recommended by the World Health Organisation shall be strictly adhered to. 6.All our partners will strictly follow the social distancing protocol as mandated by the Government. 7.Safety kits will be provided to all the guests, including a sanitizer, gloves, and a mask, before the commencement of the tour. 8.Our focus shall be on providing customized and private tours to ensure the safety and health of our guests. 9.E-Documents will be provided for the trip such as Confirmation Status/Hotel Vouchers/Itinerary/Invoice etc.

Flights

The Domestic Flights are not included in the package cost, we will advise you the flight fare once you tell us the exact dates of your travel. The International flight tickets have to be booked on your own, once you book your international flight tickets, please share with us your schedule so that we can arrange your smooth pick-up and drop off from airport to hotel on your arrival day and hotel to the airport on the departure day. Passports and Visas : All travelers listed on the Participant Information form must be in possession of a valid passport and all relevant visas. It is your responsibility to ensure that you have valid travel documentation, including but not limited to passports and visas, which meet the requirements of immigration and other Government authorities at every destination. If your itinerary includes travel to any other country besides India, please check on visa requirements for each country that you will visit. Any fines, penalties, payments or expenditures incurred as a result of such documents not meeting the requirements of those authorities will be your sole responsibility.

  • Day 1 Day 1: Arrive Bagdogra - Darjeeling (68 Km/2.5 Hrs Approx)

      Arrive at Bagdogra airport.  Upon arrival, meet our representative waiting at the arrival area. 

      Then drive to  Darjeeling. On arrival, check-in at hotel and relax.

      Darjeeling (7100 ft), the Queen of the hill stations, its name derived from Dorje-Line which means the place of Dorje, the mystic thunderbolt. After a very scenic drive through the mountains, tea gardens, experiencing unforgettable beauty, you will reach Darjeeling. Check-in at hotel.

      Spend the evening lazing around or walk up to the mall area.

      Dinner and overnight stay at Darjeeling.

      Start the day at 4 am with an early morning trip to Tiger Hill (7800 Ft) to catch the sunrise from behind the majestic Kanchenjunga range. On the way back visit the Ghoom Monastery & Batasia Loop, back to the hotel for breakfast. 

      (09:00 AM TO 03:00 PM) After breakfast, proceed for a half day Darjeeling local sightseeing of the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Ropeway, Zoo, Tenzing Rock, Tibetan Refugees Self Help Centre, Tea Garden (outer view) & Japanese Temple. Back to the hotel by evening; take a walk to Chowrasta the centre point of the Mall area.  You can do some window shopping & overnight stay at Darjeeling.

  • Day 3 Day 3: Darjeeling - Gangtok (98 Km/3.5 Hrs Approx)

      After breakfast,  check-out and enjoy a round of The Heritage Toy Train Joy ride by Steam Locomotive in Darjeeling.

      Then drive to Gangtok. 

      Gangtok (5500 ft) - the Land of the Pristine and unspoilt natural beauty of Sikkim, with alpine landscapes and thick luxuriant forests, rivers in torrent and peaceful lakes. It takes a journey of 130 kms & 5 hours to reach Gangtok. Upon arrival at the hotel, check-in. Relax & refresh yourself & then walk to the mall which is just 5 minutes away. Overnight stay at Gangtok.

      After breakfast, visit to Tashi View Point to view Mt. Khangchendzonga. Situated 8 kms from the town, this point offers a breathtaking view of the majestic peak & surrounding hills. Also can be seen are the monasteries at Phodong & Labrang. On the return visit Hanuman Tok (7200 Ft), temple devoted to Hanuman, and which is maintained by the Indian Army. From the temple you can also get a birds eye view of the Selep waterworks which supplies drinking water to the Gangtok town. Near this temple is Lukshyama - the royal cremation grounds of the erstwhile royal family of Sikkim. Then go to Ganesh Tok (6500 Ft), a temple dedicated to Lord Ganesha, which is so small in size that it can hardly accommodate one person & one has to crawl to get inside. Next, proceed to The Handicraft & Handloom Showroom, which promotes traditional arts & crafts, a veritable storehouse of exquisite carpets, blankets, shawls in Lepcha weaves. The Flower Show, which contains over 200 species of orchids set amidst a beautiful landscape. And to Do-Drul Chorten (Stupa), which is one of the most important stupas of Sikkim, built by the head of the Nyingma order- Trullshi Rimpoche in 1945. It contains rare details of Dorji Phupa, Holy Books, Mantras and is encircled by 108 prayer wheels; The Namgyal Institute of Tibetology built in 1958 in traditional style, a renowned worldwide centre for the study of the Mahayana Buddhist philosophy & religion, a treasure house of rare Thangkas, statues, over 200 Buddhist icons and prized objects of art & finally Ban Jhakhri Waterfalls, back to the hotel by late afternoon, Overnight stay at Gangtok.

      Evening free for leisure or go shopping for Sikkimese traditional handicrafts. Overnight stay at Gangtok.

      After breakfast, proceed to Tsomgo Lake (12,313 ft), a 40 kms drive which takes 2.5 hrs. This lake is located very close to Nathula Pass which is the entry point to China termed as the Silk Route & remains frozen for most parts of the year. Legend has it that the Lamas use to forecast the future by studying the colour of the lakes waters. Enjoy the surroundings, majestic snowy peaks which feed the lake and the clean fresh air, back to Gangtok by 3 pm for a late lunch. Evening free for leisure or go shopping for Sikkimese traditional handicrafts & overnight stay at Gangtok.
