Egypt&#x27;s weather is dry. There&#x27;s not much rain, excepting winter, on the south of Cairo City. The average temperature varies between 15 º in winter, and  50º in the summer at the desert. At the Nile Delta zone, the average temperature is of  26º in the summer.

There&#x27;s no mandatory medical request to enter the country; however, if you&#x27;re going to travel to Egypt it is recommended that you are up to date with the routine vaccinations, such as the the MMR vaccine, the vaccination against tetanus, the diphtheria, whopping cough, polio, and chicken pox vaccines.

What type of currency do you suggest me to take? Where can I do the exchange?

The official currency in Egypt is the Egyptian Pound, we recommend to bring Dollars (USD) and change a small amount upon arrival at the airport and in the exchange houses recommended by the guide. Euros are also a currency in which payments are received at the destination as many places in Egypt accept this currency. Most hotels have ATMs, we recommend you to always have cash, preferably in small bills.

What is the minimum an maximum age allowed?

The minimum recommended age is 14 years and the maximum is 65 years.
This experience accepts minors from 5 years old, however they must travel accompanied by 2 adults (+18 years old) on the same reservation and sharing the room during the tour. Minors cannot take the nocturn night, so they must change to the nocturn train. They cannot stay in the felucca either, so you must change to a hotel that night. Therefore, when traveling with minors you must reserve as indicated below:
For children from 5 to 11 years old: The rate described in the extra applies to children from 5 to 11 years old at the time of travel, as long as they travel with 2 adults and share a room. They must add 1 extra child + 2 adult tickets + 2 extra "Adult (12 years or +) Min. 2 for families".
Children between 12 and 17 years old: Children between 12 and 17 years old pay the regular adult rate, however they must change the night train and hotel as well. Check the extras section. 
If only 1 adult and/or more minors are traveling, please contact our Customer Service team to inform you how you should reserve. 
Adults over 60 years old can travel, however the itinerary is quite heavy due to the long hours on the bus, very early departures from one place to move to another, sleeping in the felucca can be very uncomfortable. For these passengers, the extras “Flight from Cairo to Aswan” and “Accommodation change from Felucca to Hotel (4th night)” must be added.
Most of the travelers on this experience are between 18 and 30 years old, and during the night on the felucca (sailing the Nile) they share accommodation with other clients in a "bed" made of mats, travelers usually swim in the Nile, play cards, dancing, drinking and if the weather permits, singing songs by the bonfire on the banks of the Nile River.

Do I need a travel insurance? What should my insurance cover?

You need to have a complete travel insurance that covers any inconvenient such as delayed or cancelled flights, as well as it is recommended to have an insurance for higher medical expenses in case there&#x27;s an emergency.

Do I need a visa to enter the country?

Accepted Answer

It is necessary to check directly with your country&#x27;s embassy to confirm if there are any visa requirements. This will depend on nationality. It is also important that the passport has at least six months of validity from the return of the trip. Upon arrival a representative of the tour will be waiting for you, who will be helping you to process the visa, you can give him the money in cash ($25 usd approx) and he will be in charge of the immigration process, which takes between 10 and 15 minutes. ###Mexican citizens with an ordinary passport DO require a visa. You can pay for the visa upon arrival at the airport in Cairo and other ports of entry, but it is suggested to obtain the visa at the Egyptian Embassy closest to your place of residence to avoid setbacks. All hotels have a buffet breakfast, the dishes in the buffet allow you to choose between continental breakfast and typical breakfast food in Egypt such as falafel, beans, fruits and vegetables.
The felucca includes typical food such as baked potatoes, falafel, rice, vegetables and more, it also includes dessert such as Baklava. Most of the options are vegetarian.
The Box Lunch includes sandwiches, fruit, some snack such as chips, juice, yogurt, among other foods, except drinks.
You can choose where you want to eat during free time. As long as we are on the tour, it would not be possible as we have to follow the itinerary times. In addition, all the restaurants that we go to previously must be authorized by the Ministry of Tourism. You cannot change your itinerary for security reasons, so you are accompanied by a security officer for the entire trip.

What is a felucca?

They are small sailing boats (usually they can carry between 8 and 10 passengers, plus a couple of people as crew) and in this itinerary you spend one night on this boat. They have 2 levels, the first is a large space where you eat and sleep, you also find a half bathroom (no shower). The second floor or space is a small terrace where you can take amazing pictures at sunset and party with your companions and guide. The crew puts small mattresses on the second floor for the night and you are given sheets to cover yourselves. We recommend that you bring your own sleeping bag in case you get cold. The Faluca does not allow children under 16 years old for safety measures and possible night parties.

Travel insurance is compulsory on all of our tours and needs to cover personal accident & liability, medical expenses and repatriation, travel delay & abandonment. We also strongly recommend that you take out cover against cancellation and lost/stolen baggage. Personal medical insurance does not normally provide sufficient cover and is generally not suitable for travel on our tours. You will not be able to join your tour if you have not provided us with details of your insurance or if you arrive without cover in place (no refunds will be due in this event).

Is there Wifi and/or Internet and cellphone coverage?

You will have access to Wi-Fi in common areas of the hotel. However, it is recommended to purchase a SIM card upon arrival in Egypt in order to have cellular coverage and ensure that you are connected to the Internet at all times. The internet is usually open; however, there is not always good speed or it is expensive to acquire in hotels. Having a signal or internet on cruise ships is not always possible.

The tour covers most of the highlights in Egypt, which involve long journeys, a fair amount of walking, and overnight traveling.

What is the average price for the meals not included?

Accepted Answer

While in Egypt you will need sufficient funds to cover meals not included in the itinerary, drinks, snacks, souvenirs and personal expenses such as laundry. These should generally all be paid for in Egyptian Pounds. You may also need to pay for the tour Tipping Kitty and site Entrance Fees while you are in Egypt. Payments for these may be made to your tour guide in hard currency (USD, GBP, EUR) at the start of your tour.

It is difficult to recommend a level of personal spending money which will suit everyone as this can differ greatly, but as a guideline, we would suggest allowing USD 15-25 per person per day as a minimum. Allow more if you plan on doing lots of shopping, or buying alcoholic drinks.

What type of clothes do I need to take?

Most of your time in Egypt will be in a hot climate. However, at night, and especially in the deserts, the temperatures can drop quite dramatically. So you must pack for cool conditions. Formal dress (eg. suits & ties) is not required at the hotel restaurants. Long sleeves are recommended to protect from mosquitoes if you are on the felucca. Modesty rates highly in Egypt, especially for women, so to respect the local culture & people, please ensure all clothes are loose fitting and not revealing. Shorts (not hot-pants) are OK in tourist sites, as are T-shirts, but these should not show too much bare flesh (we suggest that your shoulders should remain covered). In the centre of Cairo, if you are visiting any mosques, legs and arms should be covered.

Other items: If you will be travelling on a felucca then we recommend bringing a light sleeping sheet or sleeping bag liner all year round for comfort, and a light sleeping bag in the winter months (November to February). We also recommend you bring a sun hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, a basic first aid kit, toiletries, small towel, money belt, small torch, camera & charger.

At what time is the check in and check out of the accommodation?

The check in is usually after 2 or 3 pm, this may vary from one place to another. If you get there before this schedule, we suggest leaving your luggage at reception and walking around the area until your room is ready.   Check out is usually at 12 pm, but this also may vary from one place to another. We suggest asking for this information on arrival at the accommodation. It is important to follow this schedule; otherwise, additional charges may apply (to be paid on destination, not included).

Should I tip the guides?

Many workers in Egypt are very poorly paid and depend on tips for their main income. Tipping is part of the culture in Egypt and requests for tips can be infuriatingly persistent. The tour representative in Egypt will collect optionally around 40 USD per person in advance on the first day of the tour to cover tipping for services provided during the tour regarding drivers, waiters, bell men/ porters, hotel staff etc. However the tips for the tour guides are excluded from this rate and are completely optional. If you decide to tip the tour guides, tips are usually between 5-10 USD  of according to the services.

Can I eat at another restaurant or buy souvenirs from other shops?

No; before the tour starts, the tour representative has to report to the local authorities the exact places that are going to be visited, as well as the restaurants where the tour stops. Therefore, the venues can&#x27;t be changed. However,  we will do our best to arrange this beforehand according to the passengers preferences. You can buy a souvenir or not in the shops that are visited, this is completely up to you.

How is the felluca ride?

Board the falucca in Aswan on day 4. You enjoy the scenery of the Nile River while sailing; the captain will anchor on some occasions to take breaks, stretch your legs, take your meals and of course jump into the Nile River, a once in a lifetime experience. If necessary you can use one of the floats. The food included is typical Egyptian and consists of mainly vegetarian dishes such as falafel, baked potatoes, hummus, Arabic bread, rice, and much more, you can also eat some desserts such as Baklava (contains pistachios and nuts) and fruits. At night you can relax, enjoy traditional Bedouin music and party. You sleep together with your fellow travelers on mattresses on the bottom of the falucca because there are no rooms on the boat. The bathroom is also shared and consists of a sink and toilet. The next day you will sail early in the morning to visit the temple of Kom Ombo with the local guide. Your luggage is stored in a special compartment for suitcases and backpacks. The tour group is divided into 8 passengers per falucca.

The flight from Cairo to Aswan is approximately 1 hour 15 minutes and includes one (1) piece of luggage weighing 15 kilos.
By including this change you have included the transfers Hotel - Airport - Hotel. depending on the flight departure time you will have an extra night in Cairo or Aswan.
Flight times are generally 8:30 PM on day 2 or 3:00 AM on day 3, depending on availability.

To avoid possible problems with the extra baggage, you will have to consider an additional charge that the airline indicates. If at the destination the guide accepts to take the luggage on the bus or the hotel accepts possible to leave the luggage in a safe until your return, it will be at your own risk. We also recommend you to enjoy the Egyptian gastronomy in typical restaurants.
