  • Day 1 Arrival - Jro International Airport

      Arrival - Jro International Airport

      Arriving at Kilimanjaro International airport, you will be welcomed by one of our experience driver guide, ready to greet and escort you to Arusha city to your hotel with a private shuttle. He will introduce you to this wonderful city and country. We will spend some time pre-trekking briefing at your hotel. We will also review your equipment and rent any equipment needed at a local store.  You should plan to arrive at least one day before the start of the trek just for pre-trekking briefing and equipment review and in case you need to rent. The rest of the day is resting at accommodation. 

  • Day 2 Arusha To Miriakamba Hut (2500M)

      Arusha To Miriakamba Hut (2500M)

      Early in the morning, after breakfast from your hotel, you will get picked up with private shuttle and drive to Arusha national park at Momella gate where your trekking adventure will start. After your guide completes the necessary paperwork, formalities complete, a trekking team of local porters will join you, and then we continue to the nearby Momella Gate. For the first scenic leg of the hike an armed park ranger accompanies you through game territory, helping to spot any roaming giraffes and Buffalo in the area. Dinner and overnight stay at Miriakamba hut.

  • Day 3 Miriakamba (2500M) To Saddle Hut (3550M)

      Miriakamba (2500M) To Saddle Hut (3550M)

      Rise in the morning after breakfast, left Miriakamba hut ascending toward saddle hut. After about two more hours of hiking, the โ€˜Mgongo wa Temboโ€™ (Elephant Back) view point is reached. Here we stop to admire the scenery and take a well-deserved rest, at an altitude of around 3200metres. On the next stretch of the hike we make the transition from rain forest vegetation into more open bush, reaching our overnight stop, Saddle Hut at midday. Arriving at our next hiking hut, located at 3,550 meters above sea level, we take a break and have lunch.

  • Day 4 Summit Attempt, Saddle Hut (3550M) To Meru Peak (4565M) To Miriakamba Hut (2500M)

      Summit Attempt, Saddle Hut (3550M) To Meru Peak (4565M) To Miriakamba Hut (2500M)

      Rise in the middle of the night before the sun rise, wake up for tea and biscuits, before setting off for the summit by torchlight at two in the morning. The hiking trail becomes more challenging as it takes us through the bush to Rhino Point, at 3821 meters above sea level. We walk across solidified lava ash and rocky ground, as we make our way up the northern ridge to the summit of Mount Meru. This stretch of the hike involves some climbing passages, requiring a stomach for heights and surefooted. After summit, then we continue with the descent refreshed and ready for the next stretch of our hike. In the early hours of the afternoon, we reach the Miriakamba Hut, back at 2500 meters. Unwind and put your tired feet up, reveling in the satisfaction of having reached the Mount Meru summit earlier in the day. We have dinner and get a well-earned night of rest at Miriakamba Hut.

  • Day 5 Mariakamba (2500M) To Momella Gate (1500M) To Arusha City

      Mariakamba (2500M) To Momella Gate (1500M) To Arusha City

      Early morning after breakfast at Mariakamba proceeding to descend to Momella gate, later on we drive back to Arusha town to your hotel in Arusha just for lunch and some rest. The final stretch of the descent takes two to three hours, passing through game viewing land. Keep a look out for wildlife, including elephants, Buffalo, giraffes, and black and white Colobus monkeys, as we cover the final leg of our hike. Reaching the gate, we say goodbye to our team of local porters and depart from Arusha National Park to Arusha city. 

  • Day 6 Departure To Jro International Airport
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Departure To Jro International Airport

      Today is your final safari day in Tanzania with us. You enjoy your last day in Arusha before heading back home. Enjoy your late breakfast and packing up your stuff. Our driver will pick you at your hotel at around 10am and take you to do shopping and visit one of the biggest Art galleries in Africa the culture heritage. Later on we will then drive to JRO airport for your next flight home. This will now be the end of your 6 days Meru trekking adventure with Tai Adventures and Safaris.
