Amazing review of this attraction speaks for itself:

"The greatest minaret in the world! At least that was what Mohammad Amin Khan had in mind in 1851: a minaret from where he could see Bukhara, the sworn enemy of Xiva, 385 km away. A 14-meter-wide foundation was built, and if the minaret had been completed, it would have been 80 meters high (and thus the world's tallest minaret until the mid-20th century). But the khan died in 1855, and with him the financing and construction of the minaret, so that the city now has a mere 27-meter high minaret. But nevertheless this turquoise tiled, some what plump tower has become a world famous minaret and symbol of the city!" Boen

The spectacular-looking Ark, a royal town-within-a-town, is Bukharaโ€™s oldest structure, occupied from the 5th century right up until 1920, when it was bombed by the Red Army. For centuries it was the residence of the emirs of Bukhara. Itโ€™s about 80% ruins but there are still some remaining royal quarters, now housing several interesting museums." Nick

Itโ€™s stunning from the outside and worth a visit to see that alone, but at that point why would you miss out on going inside?
