Hike Iztaccihuatl Volcano From Mexico City

You will climb a high altitude mountain from its base. This experience is a big physical challenge, so we recommend this experience to anyone who leads an active life and does cardiovascular exercise at least three times per week. We suggest climbing beforehand a mountain of an altitude of 4000 m.a.s.l.

Because of the altitude, it is always cold. From November to February, you can find sporadic snowfalls and reach temperatures of -5 C. From March to June, the sky tends to be clear and you can reach temperatures of up to 0 C. From July to October, there may be heavy rains at night and cloudy skies. Even so, it is important to consider that in the mountains the weather can vary a lot, and despite the forecast, you always have to be prepared for any type of weather.

You will return to Mexico City around 9 PM (depending on traffic conditions).

You will spend the night at a camping safe zone, inside a camping tent for 2 people. If you´re going alone you will share with another travelers.

We suggest travelling light, no more than 10 kg, with a backpack that holds everything necessary for the experience and with a 25-30 liters capacity.

Best season depends on the weather you would like to experience. If cold is yours you should travel from Dec. to March. if you prefere less cold (remember you will be in the 3th highest mountain in México) May and October will be better for you. This experience does not operate during the rainy season (July, August and September), due to safety issues on the mountain and possible last minute changes in the operation.

The experience begins in Mexico City at a central point (Corner of Av. Vicente Suarez and Av. Michoacán in front of the Michoacán market in the Condesa neighborhood) at 6:45 AM on day 1. We recommend arriving by transport service such as Taxi or Uber to avoid having to find a parking space and this causing a delay. We ask you to be very punctual out of respect for the other people who go in the group.
