      Day 1: Arrival In Antananarivo

      Welcome and transfer to the hotel Antananarivo, the capital, which is the beating heart 

      of Madagascar. Indeed, the "City of Thousands" is at the same time the largest economic, political, 

      historical and cultural pole. Antananarivo is a step not to be missed because it has an undeniable 

      tourist attraction, which is not always discovered at first sight. The palaces, streets, squares and 

      houses of the upper town tell a fascinating story

      Breakfast at the hotel and departure to Antsirabe. Visit of the "city of water", city of 

      "pousse pousse". Free lunch on the way, continuation through the Bongolava plain to 

      Miandrivazo, embarkation point for the descent of the Tsiribihina river

      Morning transfer to Masiakampy for the dhow trip down the River Tsiribihina through tobacco plantations landscape, bird spotting, waterfalls and natural pool, crocodiles, a variety of birds, small villages. Lemurs, malachite kingfishers, bats and crocodiles.

      You will continue your descent passing by a very beautiful waterfall. For the "courageous", possibility to walk to the natural swimming pool (1h round trip). 

      Back to the boat and continuation of the descent at the foot of big cliffs: the gorges of Bemaraha... Lunch and  dinner included

      After the breakfast, we continue to Belo on Tsiribihina with a lunch on the way (at your charge). We take 4 different ferries to cross the rivers and we arrive at the Tsingy in the end of the afternoon. Rest of day free.  Night at the hotel

      This is one of the most extraordinary sites.

      Tsingy is a real limestone cathedral, a formation with many faults, cracks and eroded blocks to sharp rocks makes it the most spectacular landscape of Madagascar.

      This Jurassic massif formation started 200 millions years ago, the time the sea still covering Bemaraha region. Then the coral plate with seashells came up to the air, the wind and the rain have been sculpting on it since 5 million years to spectacular erosion. You can find 6 species of lemurs, reptiles, 53 kinds of birds. You have also the smallest chameleon there (Brookesia Perarmata).

      This day is an opportunity to discover the most amazing site with a local guide.


      NB: the level of walk difficulty depends on the participantsโ€™ ability and desire. The local guide will advise and recommend you the best choice.

      Today is along driving day as we leave the massif early in the morning to make our way back to Morondava. We have a lunch (at your charge) on the way. We arrive at the end of the afternoon, just in time to watch the sun set on the Baobabs Alley

      Continuing by a chaotic coastal track, we reach Belo, a small corner of paradise between sea, 

      thorny bush, outrigger canoes and bamboo huts.  Time seems to have stopped in this village.

      Free morning in Belo sur Mer. Several excursions are possible such as a walk in the surroundings or by sailing dugout, a visit to the salt works or a dhow construction according to or a dhow construction to techniques perpetuated over generations. Continuation by vehicle 4x4 to reach the village of Manja through dry forest and savannah. The track goes inland. Arrival on site at the end of the day

      Our journey continues in a primary and secret land, shared between sea and gallery forests. Halfway across the Mangoky River, you cross the river by ferry. Soon seduced by the beauty of Andavadoaka, beach, rest and farniente impose themselves in this place of where you will find very beautiful creeks.

      After a short track along the coast, we find the idyllic setting of Salary, a small village nestled in one of the most beautiful bays of Madagascar. The fine sandy beaches, the coral massifs with their enchanting colours, the primary forest containing and the primary forest with its still preserved riches welcome us.

      After breakfast, we take the coastal track along a coral reef for miles, passing pretty villages at the foot of miles of white sand, passing through pretty villages at the foot of the dunes and the lagoon. Bathed in the calm and serenity of the Vezo villages, we admire the agility of these extraordinary fishermen. Arrival in Tulear and continuation to Isalo. Arrival at the hotel at the end of the afternoon

      Accompanied by your park ranger, we will hike through the canyons and oases of Isalo and its lunar landscape to reach some waterfalls. This environment was formed during the Jurassic age and where the unique flora has evolved adapting to the existing conditions. Highlights: different species of lemurs, including the world famous ring tailed lemur, panoramic view of the landscape, swim in the natural pools,โ€ฆ.

      Leaving Ihosy town, we go to meet  Malagasy highlands after passing through the dry and arid huge Ihorombe plateau. We drive round Andringitra mountain mass crests. Here, the landscape totally changes at Ambalavao, visit to see the hand-made Antemoro paper workshop, this plant paper with mulberry bark tree, Avoha, was introduced in Madagascar in the XVth century by the Arabs and is made even today on the same process by this small workshop of Ambalavao. Go on until Fianarantsoa.

      We embark at the station of Fianarantsoa for a great day of travel picturesque and colourful journey. Your seats are waiting for you in the first class carriage.

      Please note that if the train breaks down or there is a landslide on the road, the journey will be by road. The rotation is also every Tuesday and Thursday for Fianarantsoa and Wednesday and Sunday for Manakara - Fianarantsoa

  • Day 16 Day 16: Manakara (Balade En Pangalanes)

      Day 16: Manakara (Balade En Pangalanes)

      Day dedicated to the discovery of the Pangalanes Canal by traditional pirogue or boat, traditional. Along the canal, we discover the lake life of this wild and luxuriant region where an incessant ballet of traditional pirogues is taking place transporting goods or travellers. Visit of several remote villages and a traditional forge, including Ampangalana, and discover the village occupations,village activities: weaving, fishing, canoe building.... Picnic on a sandy lagoon at a place where the canal joins the Indian Ocean. Siesta and swimming in the cove.

      We leave Manakara, we will go up this day by the RN12 towards Ranomafana at an average height of 1200m altitude in its rich eastern rainforest. We leave on a hilly and often winding road. On the way, visit of a small market and Tanala village. Arrival at the end of the morning and installation at your hotel. The rest of the day is free

      Early breakfast and morning trail of the rainforest with a park ranger to discover lemurs in their natural habitat. Ranomafana Natural Park is also home to the rare Golden Bamboo and Greater Bamboo lemurs. 40,000 hectares of cloud forest although most is inaccessible! Have free lunch in the village. Make sure you bring a raincoat during the walk. 

      Stroll towards thermal baths and village. Possibility of swimming in the hot water of Ranomafana.

      After a copious breakfast, we back on the road number 7 and drive until Ambositra for lunch. Ambositra is the woodcarving and marquetry town at Zafimaniry country; we go round the shops and visit Zafimaniry artisans to look for a piece of carved wood or finely done square box marquetry. Continuation to Antsirabe. Nigt to the hotel.

      After breakfast, city tour by bicycle in Antsirabe, visit of the city of Antsirabe and its miniature factories.

      After the visit, road to Antananarivo. You will have  the possibility to discover the mirific landscapes 

      characteristic of the Highlands: the hills, the villages laid out on their side, the fields, the rice fields as far as the eye can see. In Ambatolampy, a break to discover the amazing work of the manufacturers of aluminum casseroles that can be found throughout Madagascar. Arrival in Antananarivo. We offer you a room in day use in a hotel. Dinner included before transferring you to the airport for check-in
