Meals

Meals mentioned in the itinerary Just like in many Asian countries, the staple food of the Cambodian diet is rice. We usually serve our clients with Set Menus including salted fish, chicken, beef or pork. Fish is often fresh from the Great Lake, Tonle Sap, and is normally eaten with a spicy peanut sauce called โ€œteuk treyโ€. The most popular Cambodian food is Amok, a soup of boneless fish with coconut and spices. In Siem Reap and Phnom Penh, Western food is widely available. If you wish to enjoy the western set menu, please let us know. Meals that are not included during the tour, will not be mentioned as (B/L/D) under each dayโ€™s program. Dietary Requirements Let us know well in advance if you are a vegetarian, Vegan, Halal and Kosher or have other dietary requirements. It is not usually a problem for us to provide you due to our office operator will take note and pass it in advance to the restaurants or hotels where you will be served. Meals may not be as varied as you are used to and if you know there are plenty of food you cannot eat you may wish to bring extra snacks from home so you can top up your energy supply.

We also provide a range of spares in the vehicle along with a full toolkit for every tour. However, it is also gauche for us to carry spares for every eventuality; therefore, it is necessary that when before departing, you should have a quick look at your two-wheel fellow whether it is in good order. We do provide a helmet for every cyclist, but it is also imperative that you bring your own helmet and wear it at all times while cycling.

Insurance

Travel insurance is not covered in the tour price. You can organize travel insurance with your preferred insurance company. As medical facilities in Cambodia are rather limited, so it is imperative for you to take out a good medical insurance policy when travelling. You may organize this independently with the intention of letting your insurance company aware of the nature of what you are doing with us.

Day 2: Cycle The Angkor Temples

After breakfast at the hotel, we start biking the morning temple exploration at the most illustrious temple with fewer crowds. First, you will visit Ta Prohm which is unique in that it has been left largely as it was found- overgrown by jungle trees and vines, with many parts of the temple crumbling to the ground. This makes the so-called Tomb Raider Temple, as it was used during the filming of the movie, one of the most picturesque and memorable temples of the Angkor complex.

We will then head out to the ancient city of Angkor Thom, enter the city through the ancient Gate, an impressive stone gate carved with elephants and four giant faces. From here, continue to Bayon Temple, found in the centre of the city famed as the enigmatic faces representing the 54 provinces of the Great Khmer Empire. The Terrace of the Elephants and the Terrace of the Leper King are also must-visits as they are both known for their intricate bas-reliefs.

We will take a break at lunch and stop at the local restaurant to enjoy tasteful Cambodian dishes.

Lastly, we will bike to the gem of the Angkor complex, Angkor Wat. Following your tour leader, you will be memorised by the rich history and symbolism of this unique ancient temple. Afterwards, you will return to your hotel.

  • Day 3 Day 3: Cycle To Banteay Samre & Banteay Srei Temple

Day 3: Cycle To Banteay Samre & Banteay Srei Temple

Today, our bike tour takes us on unpaved roads through rural villages. We continue on a flat road for about 7 km to the temple of Banteay Samre. From there it goes back on unpaved roads through attractive villages, along with rice fields, and to the temple of Banteay Srei, which is located outside the actual temple city and is made of pink sandstone.

The roads are peaceful, narrow, and very pretty all the way to Bantey Srei. There are plenty of beautiful and real country views to see along the way as you cycle past the local markets, schools, villages, and Buddhist temples. Taking a water break under the shade of the tree before we reach Bantey Srei, which is known as the Citadel of Women, this red sandstone temple is one of Angkorโ€™s most significant structures as its walls are decorated with elaborate carvings, which have been preserved remarkably well.

Day 4: Biking & Kayaking To Mechrey

Today, we cycle to Tonle Sap Lake through the attractive countryside surrounding Siem Reap, following the drit road that winds through endless rice fields and Cambodiaโ€™s ubiquitous sugar palms. On arrival at the boat station, we board Finfoot, a refurbished fishing boat that takes guests along a charming channel lined with water-loving plants to where we launch the kayaks and paddle out to the floating village of Mechrey.

Kayaks allow us to experience and learn about the culture and environment that are shaped by the extraordinary habitual rise and fall of the water level. We discover the mystifying and varied landscape of the Great Tonle Sap Lake, the largest in Southeast Asia.
