Known as the โ€œCity of Mosaicsโ€ Madaba is the cultural epicenter for Byzantine and Umayyad mosaics. Just a short distance from the capitol visitors are just a stoneโ€™s throw away from the holy monuments of religious iconography. In or around 562 AD.The oldest and most famous floor, the Mosaic Map, was discovered in 1884 in the Greek Orthodox Church of St. George. It was originally laid in 560 AD. Centering on Jerusalem, the map portrays the region with accuracy and humor. Only one-third of the map has survived.

After that we will continue to visit Mount Nebo, most known for being the site where Moses overlooked the Holy Land but did not enter it and where a church and a monastery were built to honor him. In the fourth century three domed buildings were erected in the place of the current altar. The place used to have a hidden passage which contained graves decorated with mosaics. On both sides of the place there were two small churches for performing the burial prayers. The baptistery, which is in the northern section of the site, is decorated with mosaics, while the floor of the southern section is decorated with a large cross.

As its name suggests, it is much smaller, consisting of three wider open areas connected by a 450-metre canyon. It is part of the Petra Archeological Park, though accessed separately, and included in Petraโ€™s inscription as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is often visited by tourists in conjunction with Petra itself, since it is free and usually less crowded.

The ancient city of Petra is a breathtaking national treasure of Jordan that is widely known as its most famous tourist attraction. It is an enduring legacy of the Nabataeans, a hardworking Arab people who settled in the southern part of Jordan more than 2,000 years ago. This spectacular city has earned its reputation for its refined culture, enormous architecture, and ingenious network of dams and water channels. Petra is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the new Seven Wonders of the World.

      ยญ

The Nabataeans, Edomites, and Romans inhabited Petra, and this fusion of civilizations resulted in the creation of this world wonder. Caravans that were heavily laden with exotic goods such as incense, silks, and spices would rest at Petra, making it an important hub for trade.

      ยญ

For those interested in learning more about Petra, the Petra Museum is an excellent place to visit. Located on the main tourist street and only a three-minute walk from the main gate to Petra, the museum contains 280 artifacts dating back to different ages. The exhibition consists of five halls showcasing the history of Petra and information about the Nabateanโ€™s life and civilization.
