Day 1: Lalibela

Stop At: Rock-Hewn Churches of Lalibela, Lalibela 1260 Ethiopia
Pickup from Hotel or the Airport in Lalibela and meet the support vehicle in Lalibela airport and drive to the town, after a little refreshment Tour the magnificent rock-hewn churches of Lalibela, a UNESCO World Heritage site. This group of eleven monolithic and semi-monolithic structures were carved directly into the stone of the mountainside at least 800 years ago. This complex boasts the largest monolithic church in the world, a maze of passageways and tunnels, intricately carved reliefs, and fabulous examples of icon painting

Day 2: Lalibela - Axum

Stop At: Rock-Hewn Churches of Lalibela, Lalibela 1260 Ethiopia
Early morning at 7am pickup from Hotel and continue the visit to the churches. If on special Holiday or if it is Sunday, as there will be a Mass it is not allowed to go inside the churches but Instead attend the Ethiopian Chanting.

Stop At: Axum, Axum, Tigray Region
After spending sometime in Lalibela Fly to Axum on Ethiopian Airlines. Tour the ancient stelae fields, standing for 2000 years. Visit the new and impressive Archeological Museum. Visit other tombs and archeological sites as time permits.

Day 3: Axum - Mekele - Hamedela โ€“ Dodom

Stop At: Danakil Depression, 0125 Ethiopia
Depart from Mekele at 9:30am meet the support vehicle and Drive to Hamedela through berhalโ€™e. Passing through the small town Berhalโ€™e, where the camel caravan stops before passing to the Northern Highland. En route you will see many long camel caravans going to the salt mine and other coming out of Danakil with their salt loaded on the camel. ( 3-4 hrs drive from mekeโ€™le ).
then drive to Askoma which is around 80 Km distance may take about 6hrs, because of the rocky solidified Lava, and sand. Stop at Askoma, Trek 9 Km from Askoma wich takes around 3 Hours Arive at Eartaโ€™le around late afternoon and Early dinner at around 17:00 and trek up to the new Erta Ale reach around 20:00. Camels transport all the camping materials and some food, sleeping . Camels transport all the camping materials and some food, sleeping materials, mattresses,and water, to the rim of the volcano, where we spend the night watching the dramatic action of the boiling lava. New Erta Ale ranks one of the most alluring and physically challenging natural attractions anywhere in Ethiopia. It is a shield volcano with a base diameter of 30 km and 1km square caldera at its summit. New Erta Ale is part of the worldโ€™s only permanent lava lake and you will spend an unforgettable night on the top of the mountain. The magma flow moved 3.5 km south from old Erta Aleto the New eruption site.

Day 4: Eartaโ€™le โ€“ Lake Afdera

Stop At: Danakil Depression, 0125 Ethiopia
Woke up early in the morning waching the Two Miraculaos things on Earth, The Sun rising and the Magma, Morning Trek back to Askoma where breakfast will be served, and asfter spending sometime at the campsite drive to Lake Afdera, The Lake is only Visisble during the Ethiopian rainy season, but we might have a little chance to see during the summer the mythical Lake Afdera, a saltwater lake located more than100 meters below sea level, in one of the deepest depressions of the planet. Because of the picturesque landscape, it is interesting to visit the salt flats where the Afar people obtain the salt by evaporating the water of the lake.on continue to Hamad Ela, a village with a total population of about 500 people.

Day 5: Morning Excrussion Asebo โ€“ Mekele

Stop At: Danakil Desert
Asebo is the place where the salts are mined. Observe the breaking of the salt from the ground, cutting into rectangular pieces and loading on camels. You drive ahead to Dallol (-130 m) and visit the difference landscape formed by volcanic activity, Dallol + Lake Assal (-130 m) + camel caravans (No camel caravan on July, August, and early September). Excursion to Dallol (116 meters below sea level, one of the lowest places in the world) colorful salts mining, visit Lake Assal, follow up camel caravans and walk with the Afar people. Drive back to Hamedela and proceed to Mekele, Arive in Mekele Late afternoon, The tour ends here in Mekele and those who would like to continue to other places please contact us.
