  • Day 1 Arrival And The Colombian Cowboys
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Arrival And The Colombian Cowboys

      Arrival and the Colombian Cowboys:

Youโ€™ll be collected from the airport in Yopal and take a relaxing journey of around 2-2.5 hours through some beautiful Orinoquia landscapes to the first Hato (Typical farmhouse of the region) of 3 youโ€™ll be visiting.

The natural reserve of almost 9 thousand hectares, is formed by a family legacy of a grandfather called Gerardo Zambrano and 3 traditional โ€œhatosโ€, that has worked since 1908 on preserving the natural wealth and the โ€œllaneroโ€ culture of Colombianโ€™s Llanos.

All hatos will offer you lifeful colors, beautiful landscapes filled with the wind in front of a stream and the vast savannah, magical sunrises, and sunsets. A real adventure in Casanare. The natural reserve youโ€™ll be visiting is an extensive territory that is home to a large number of species of birds, reptiles, amphibians, and mammals, numerous herds of capybaras, and large flocks of colorful birds that can easily be found.

On arrival at your first Hato, youโ€™ll be greeted by your guide that is a local cowboy that will show you the territory for the next 4 days.

Following this, youโ€™ll be experiencing a guided walk through the ecological trails where you start recognizing the surroundings and will be able to start enjoying magical landscapes and the richness of flora and fauna within the Natural reserve.

After lunch, it is time to start living as a real Colombian cowboy; horseback riding through the savannah for 3-5 hours of this magnificent area in search of some of the many wild animals that thrive in this region.

Be sure to keep an eye out for Capybaras, deer, babillas (small alligators), wild horses, palm and honey bears, iguanas, ducks, howler monkeys, owls, armadillos, foxes, turtles, wild pigs, pumas, and hundreds of species of birds.

Getting back to your Hato as the sun is setting youโ€™ll enjoy a wonderful dinner before relaxing with the sounds of nature as you drift off to sleep.

This is a sample itinerary that can be modified at the Hato depending on the weather conditions and desires of the travelers. Your guide will explain optional changes you can enjoy.

  • Day 2 Horse Riding Through The Wildlife In Casanare
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Horse Riding Through The Wildlife In Casanare

Horse riding through the Wildlife in Casanare:

Today will be pure heaven for wildlife lovers. Take your time to observe and enjoy!

Before the sun rises youโ€™ll take a quick coffee or juice before heading out on a typical canoe to see the most amazing landscape with the first sun rays on the tranquil waters and the sound of the birds. Youโ€™ll be learning about the practice of artisanal fishing created by llaneros for their subsistence.

Next, itโ€™s back to the hato for some breakfast and some "me time" before youโ€™re off again around 9 am for your second adventure on a horse to your next home of the night. On this tour, you can spot anthill bears, small owls which nest on the ground, foxes, and a large number of birds. Once you go through the canyons youโ€™ll see chiguiros, babillas, and herons.

Before and following lunch, youโ€™ll have a bit of me time to just enjoy your surroundings before venturing out on another horse ride, now looking for the howler monkey.

Arriving back at your Hato, youโ€™ll have time to freshen up before enjoying a bonfire and dinner outside with the light of burning touches providing you with another perfect Los Llanos experience.

This is a sample itinerary that can be modified at the Hato depending on the weather conditions and desires of the travelers. Your guide will explain optional changes you can enjoy.

  • Day 3 The Daily Life In Casanare
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      The Daily Life In Casanare

      The daily life in Casanare:

Appreciate the majestic llanero sunrise in the early morning and get ready to live an experience of its own of the llanero hatos, learn the ancestral work on how to milk a cow, lasso a foal, brush it, and tie it up. All while listening to the traditional music of the region playing in the background.

Following breakfast, itโ€™s time for you to learn how to approach natural resources to create elements that are used in the daily tasks of the cowboys. This workshop is an authentic and cultural experience.

Before lunch, it will be time to go to your last home in the Natural Reserve, where once again youโ€™ll be able to see all kinds of birds, mammals, amphibians, and reptiles in their natural environment.

Once arrived at your hato, you will have a traditional lunch and have some me time in the "chinchorros" (Hammocks) before your next adventure.

At 3 pm, your guide will be waiting for you to venture once again into the deep savannah, this time youโ€™ll be looking for all kinds of herons and birds such as the Orinoco goose, ducks, Garzon soldier, and Alcaravanes. Youโ€™ll end your day with the best sunsets you can find all over Colombia.

Arriving back at your Hato, youโ€™ll have time to freshen up before enjoying an outside dinner.

This is a sample itinerary that can be modified at the Hato depending on the weather conditions and desires of the travelers. Your guide will explain optional changes you can enjoy.

  • Day 4 A Gift From You To The Region.
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

A Gift From You To The Region.

A gift from you to the Region

Waking with the sounds of the wildlife and the light peaking into your room youโ€™ll rise and enjoy this beautiful sunrise on your last day in this paradise.

After breakfast, itโ€™s time to say goodbye to this Natural Reserve that gave you a real llaneros welcome into their homes. The best way to show your appreciation for everything that lives here and to leave a mark on this territory is to plant a tree to help to conserve and maintain the llanero forests. So the last thing on your to-do list will be just this.

Youโ€™ll be transfered to Yopal airport at the desired time to catch your flight onto the next stop of your Colombia journey. You might feel tired from all the riding, but your heart will be happy for experiencing Colombian llanera life. Have a safe trip!
