      Exploring Thimphu And Returning To Paro (54 Km - 01 Hrs. Approx)

      Start with a visit to the Institute for Zorig Chusum (Painting School) is a great place to start your second day in Bhutan if you want to observe students expressing themselves through traditional Bhutanese art and craft. (Sundays and official holidays are not open.) After that, learn about Bhutanese literature by perusing the National Libraryโ€™s extensive collection of Buddhist manuscripts (itโ€™s closed on weekends and government holidays). Savor the native delicacies while enjoying lunch in Thimphu. Then itโ€™s 54 km and an hourโ€™s drive back to Paro. Ta Dzong, a historic watchtower in Paro, is now home to the National Museum, an excellent resource for learning about Bhutanese culture and history. Today is a great day to learn about the history and culture of Bhutan.

      An fascinating visit to the Tigerโ€™s Nest, or the Taktsang Monastery, one of Bhutanโ€™s most famous landmarks, will occupy your morning. The famous Bhutanese Buddhist monk Guru Rinpoche supposedly rode a tigress to this very spot so he could meditate there. Amazing views may be had from Taktsang Monastery, which is perched precariously on a cliff. Bring the necessary gear and clothing for a strenuous, multi-hour hike.
