  • Day 2 La Candelaria, Monserrate & The Gold Museum

      Youโ€™ll be collected from your accommodation in Bogotรก and taken on a guided excursion, where youโ€™ll encounter the most important historical locations within La Candelaria. Just some of the stops on your tour through Bogotรกs oldest neighborhood will be Bolivar Plaza, Casa Nariรฑo (The Presidents House), Palace of Justice, Catedral Primada de Colombia, Iglesia de San Francisco, Colรณn Theater, Iglesia de Nuestra Seรฑora del Carmen, Sรฉptima (carrera 7), and the Chorro de Quevedo Plaza.


      During your time in La Candelaria, youโ€™ll be enjoying a few hours strolling through El Museo del Oro (Gold Museum) of Bogotรก. This grand 3-story museum displays a selection of pre-Columbian gold, other metal alloys, and a mix of pottery, stone, shell, wood, and textile objects/textiles. All are made by ancient indigenous Colombian cultures. With over 55,000 pieces of gold artifacts, this is the largest collection of gold artifacts in the world.


      Once you have visited this amazing museum and seen the many beautiful sites La Candelaria has to offer, it will be time for you to ascend to the great height of 10,341 ft (3152m) and the summit of Monserrate; almost 2,000 ft higher than Bogotรก. As well as learning the historical importance of this mountain to the indigenous Musica, youโ€™ll also enjoy time wandering through the artisan markets, visit a beautiful 17th-century monastery and enjoy some of the most spectacular panoramic views of the capital city of this great nation.

  • Day 3 Flight To The Amazon Jungle + Night Hike

      Youโ€™ll be collected from the airport and be taken on a short drive through Leticia to the wharf, where youโ€™ll catch a boat up the Amazon River to your Amazon Jungle Ecolodge for the next 3 nights. Youโ€™ll be arriving in the mid-afternoon after a boat ride of approximately 2 hours, and in time for a bit of relaxation before dinner.


      Following dinner when it is nice and dark youโ€™ll venture out on a night safari into the jungle, In search of tarantulas, giant insects, mammals, and different Amazonian fauna and flora.

  • Day 4 Mocagua Island & Community, Hiking, Canoeing

      Youโ€™ll enjoy a good breakfast followed by a short trip up the Amazon River to discover the "Painted Village" of a Mocagua community. The Murals of Mocagua is an initiative of the Calanoa reserve. "This project is based on the concept that with the promotion of art and traditional culture, supported by projects of sustainable management of the forest and river resources, we can contribute in a significant way to the economic wellbeing of a community, to the strengthening of cultural and ethnic identity and to environmental conservation. It is art for conservation, and experience of public and communal art, painting the facades of the houses with relevant motives to the families indigenous clans."


      • After heading back to the eco-lodge for a delicious fresh lunch youโ€™ll start a hike across Calanoa Reserve to the Matamata creek, enjoying the thick jungle that you pass through. Located on the very edge of the Amacayacu National Park youโ€™ll discover a canoe waiting for you to paddle back down the Amazon River to the Eco-lodge (if the water level allows it. The dryer season is July-Sept). During the high-water season, the Amazon River rises up to 11m (36ft). So youโ€™ll enjoy an incredible experience navigating the jungle canopy.
      • After heading back to the eco-lodge for a delicious fresh lunch youโ€™ll climb back into the boat again and travel the short distance across to Mocagua Island. Here youโ€™ll enjoy hiking through this unique environment and discovering very different flora and fauna. The island also has some absolutely gorgeous interior lakes, where the lotus Victoria Amazonica blooms (giant Lillies). To finish your day youโ€™ll enjoy some time sitting on the dock back at the Eco-lodge, and trying your hand at a spot of fishing for some of the mighty Piranhas!

      nb. Your itinerary can be varied and adapted to the weather conditions and preferences of travelers. Option #1 or #2 can be chosen for the afternoon.

  • Day 5 Cocama Medicine Man, Indigenous, And Dolphins

      Cocama Medicine Man, Indigenous, And Dolphins

      • Youโ€™ll enjoy a good breakfast followed by another boat cruise. This time to visit the Milciades Gardens, where youโ€™ll meet a Cocama medicine man (Shaman). Youโ€™ll walk through the lush vegetation of this garden, guided by this wise man, with a vast knowledge of both the traditional way of cultivating the forest and the many healing powers of plants within. Youโ€™ll learn which plants can be used to cure many illnesses and secrets passed down for generations.
      • Following another fabulous and fresh lunch, youโ€™ll take the boat across to the other side of the Amazon River and into the territory of Peru. From here youโ€™ll enjoy a wonderful and peaceful time spotting camera-shy pink and grey dolphins, that are unique to the Amazon region. Youโ€™ll stay out on the waters to enjoy a beautiful explosion of color on the river as the sun begins to go down.
      • On the Peruvian border, youโ€™ll also discover a community located in Vista Alegre. Here there is a community-based tourism project called the Musmuki project. The idea is to preserve their territory for the generations that are still to come. In order to do this, they are changing their livelihood from the extraction of natural resources and hunting to a more sustainable way through a life of tourism. Here youโ€™ll not only come to learn the history of their culture, but there are also three lakes near the community visit. Each with an abundance of a wonderful diversity of wildlife and flora.

      Optional evening activity with an additional cost of $15 per person:


      • Receive a home visit from a local Shaman and build a deep connection with your jungle surroundings. This traditional medicine healer will perform a smoke bath blessing with incenses made with Amazonian resins. The traditional doctor sings and blesses travelers in this personal ritual.

      Raising before most birds have left their nests, (and before youโ€™ve had any breakfast) youโ€™ll be out and about at 6 am for some amazing Bird Watching. Walking a short distance from the Eco-lodge youโ€™ll enjoy the morning rituals of many of our feathered friends in the skies and in the trees. On return to the Eco-lodge, youโ€™ll enjoy another fresh breakfast before your next adventure.

      Youโ€™ll be picked up from your hotel in Bogotรก and be taken directly to the salt mine of Zipaquirรก, where youโ€™ll uncover the ingenuity of the people who 590 ft (180 m) underground converted this ancient salt mine into the amazing church that receives as many as 3000 people every Sunday of the year.

      Once youโ€™ve finished your tour, taken many many photos and come to understand how important this location has been for hundreds of years to the locals of this area youโ€™ll take the short trip to the town of Zipaquirรก where youโ€™ll wander the streets of Zipaquirรก checking out the grand Plaza (main square), Independence Square and one of the oldest churches you can find in Colombia.


      Next, travel onto Rรกquira, a small artisan town and a dream location for anyone wishing to do a bit of shopping. Youโ€™ll find everything here from hammocks to pottery and all Colombian made. For those interested in taking photos and not shopping, there are some fantastic streets and a wonderful town plaza full of life-size (and larger) clay statues.


      Lastly, arrive in Villa de Leyva, a beautiful colonial town with cobblestone streets and 16th century architecture. You will be escorted to your hotel, and then you are free to enjoy the evening dining at a nice restuarant.

      Awake in this peaceful colonial city feeling like youโ€™re back in the 16th century. Following a delicious breakfast at your hotel, your guide will collect you to begin your tour of this unique location. Starting with a 1.5-hour stroll around the beautiful cobblestone streets leading to the largest plaza in Colombia and visiting your choice of 2 of the following 3 sites around Villa de Leyva:


      • Monasterio Del Santo Eccehomo -  Declared part of Colombiaโ€™s architectural heritage in 1998, the initial convent was founded in 1620. This is simply a beautiful monastery built on a hillside and consisting of a wonderful cloister, church, cemetery, and plaza, with wonderful views.
      • The Terracotta House - Explore the largest piece of pottery in the world. Wander through the many rooms taking photos from many angles. This really is quite amazing!
      • The Fossil Museum - See, touch, and feel the bones of dinosaurs that once ruled this world.

      Following a wonderful lunch at one of the many fantastic restaurants youโ€™ll continue your journey North up into the Santander Region and the most beautiful town in Colombia; Barichara.

Ride the worldโ€™s first open-air electrical escalators and admire the powerful graffiti with their hidden meanings. Discover Parques del Rรญo, a central location known for its striking sculpture and peaceful resting areas. Immerse your senses in Barefoot Park, where water features, bamboo paths, and sand awaken your senses. Visit the Medellin Civic Center and its iconic landmarks, including the Eternal Flame and the largest vertical garden. Encounter Boteroโ€™s sculptures at Parque San Antonio and Botero Plaza, showcasing the renowned artistโ€™s unique style. Explore the Cultural Palace and the historic churches of Candelaria and La Veracruz. Conclude the tour at Parque Memorial Inflexion, a memorial park dedicated to victims of narcoterrorism, once the site of the Monaco Building linked to Pablo Escobar. This journey unveils Medellinโ€™s history and transformation through its diverse landmarks and poignant memorials.

  • Day 12 Guatape

      Youโ€™ll enjoy a beautiful drive through the scenery of Antioquia towards Guatape Rock. On the way, youโ€™ll be stopping at a replica of Old Peรฑolโ€™s town plaza. The original town was actually sunk and is now at the bottom of Lake Guatape. The only piece still visible is the spiral from the church tower. 


      Next on todayโ€™s adventure will be La Pierda (The Rock or better known as Guatape Rock). This is simply a wonderful and huge stone standing tall and overlooking Lake Guatape far below. Once here youโ€™ll have the opportunity to climb the 740 steps up to the very top, with breathtaking views every step of the way.


      Before you head back to Medellรญn you will make a stop in Guatape town (The City of Zocalos) where youโ€™ll walk the streets of this beautiful town and learn what is the Zocalo tradition and why it started. Youโ€™ll also get to visit the Plaza (main square), Remembrance Street, boardwalk (Malecรณn) the church, maybe enjoy a tuk-tuk ride, and more.

  • Day 13 Flight To Nuquรญ From Medellรญn

      On arrival to Nuquรญ youโ€™ll be collected from the airport and taken directly to the marina for your boat ride to your home for the next 3 nights; La Bayka eco-lodge. Set in an amazing scene just a short stroll to the waterโ€™s edge, La Bayka is an idyllic location to escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. 

      Youโ€™ll be arriving mid-late morning and have time to organize your things before enjoying a wonderful fresh lunch.

      the Thermal Pools of Santa Rosa is truly one of the most picturesque locations you can visit while in Colombia. Set in a valley surrounded by tropical rainforest the hot springs are quite simply amazing! 


      You can move through the pools finding your perfect temperature, as the boiling hot water enters from the center and the cool refreshing mountain water enters from the sides. Youโ€™ll absolutely fall in love with the amazing waterfall that is an absolute must to visit.

      Continuing todayโ€™s journey youโ€™ll travel to one of the most colorful towns in Colombia; Filandia.       your tour will stat in a  Finca that produces not only prize-winning coffee but wonderful, sweet cacao and an unimaginable variety of organic fruits. Youโ€™ll be greeted with a smile and a refreshing freshly made juice before starting your tour of this astounding farm.


      Walking into the valley youโ€™ll feel like you are on another planet surrounded by cacao, coffee, exotic fruits, wonderful nature, birds, and wild bamboo. Your guide will be explaining to you the complete process of the production of both the Cacao and Coffee, as youโ€™re walking through this lush paradise. Youโ€™ll cross a small hand-made bridge to continue your journey through the plantations and into a forest of thick bamboo.


      Next, youโ€™ll begin your journey up and out of the valley to discover more trees of exotic fruits, along with many wild-growing fruits such as pineapples. Youโ€™ll come to a 120-year-old house made of Bahareque (a mix of timber, bamboo, mud, and cattle pooh in the construction of the walls). Once here youโ€™ll not only be shown, but youโ€™ll also get involved with roasting the cacao and coffee beans on the 100-year old stovetop, and actually make the freshest coffee possible, along with some of the richest chocolate youโ€™ll ever try in your life.
