    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Monserrate, La Candelaria And The Bogotรก Gold Museum

Youโ€™ll be collected from your accommodation in Bogotรก and taken on a guided excursion, where youโ€™ll encounter the most important historical locations within La Candelaria. Just some of the stops on your tour through Bogotรกโ€™s oldest neighborhood will be Bolivar Plaza, Casa Nariรฑo (The Presidents House), Palace of Justice, Catedral Primada de Colombia, Iglesia de San Francisco, Colรณn Theater, Iglesia de Nuestra Seรฑora del Carmen, Sรฉptima (carrera 7), and the Chorro de Quevedo Plaza.

During your time in La Candelaria, youโ€™ll be enjoying a few hours of strolling through El Museo del Oro (Gold Museum) of Bogotรก. This grand 3-story museum displays a selection of pre-Columbian gold, other metal alloys, and a mix of pottery, stone, shell, wood, and textile objects/textiles. All are made by ancient indigenous Colombian cultures. With over 55,000 pieces of gold artifacts, this is the largest collection of gold artifacts in the world.

Once you have visited this amazing museum and seen the many beautiful sites La Candelaria has to offer, it will be time for you to ascend to the great height of 10,341 ft (3152m) and the summit of Monserrate; almost 2,000 ft higher than Bogotรก. As well as learning the historical importance of this mountain to the indigenous Musica, youโ€™ll also enjoy time wandering through the artisan markets, visiting a beautiful 17th-century monastery, and enjoying some of the most spectacular panoramic views of the capital city of this great nation.

  • Day 3 Your Introduction To La Macarena, Caรฑo Cristalitos
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Your Introduction To La Macarena, Caรฑo Cristalitos

Depending on the date of your flight youโ€™ll be departing Bogotรก between 9 and 10am Wednesday - Friday for your 3-day adventure to the most beautiful river in the world, the River of Five Colors, Caรฑo Cristales!

Arriving in La Macarena between 10:30am and 11:30am youโ€™ll be collected and take part in a mandatory 30-minute briefing provided by a representative of Cormacarena and the National Parks (tourism bureau of La Macarena).

Following this chat, youโ€™ll take the short journey to your hotel to drop off your bags and enjoy a quick and typical lunch of the region before your adventure really begins.

Depending on your arrival time and the number of people in different parts of the National Park the representative of Cormacarena will assign the destination you can visit on this first day. Unfortunately, due to the arrival time of the flights, Caรฑo Cristales will not be one of the options, and youโ€™ll get to enjoy either Cristalitos & El Mirador, or El Bajo Lozada.

Caรฑo Cristalitos and El Mirador will generally be your stop on the first day. To get there youโ€™ll be taking a boat up the Guayabero River for more or less ยฝ an hour to come to the starting point for your hike to Caรฑo Cristalitos. The first part of this hike is around 45 minutes, and almost straight up where youโ€™ll be using tree branches and rocks to help you with the climb. (A good level of fitness is needed for this section of the hike). But once at the top, youโ€™ll discover an astonishing view of hundreds of miles in every direction of this vast Colombian savannah from El Mirador.

Next, itโ€™s off hiking across this savannah for around 90 minutes, looking for a beautiful location surrounded by little ponds that are filled with the same water plant (Macarenia clavigera) that is found in Caรฑo Cristales. Hence the name Caรฑo Cristalitos, meaning a smaller version of Caรฑo Cristales.

Following your first experience with this beautiful and unique water plant itโ€™s off for a refreshing swim and a much easier 60-minute hike down to your waiting boat on the riverโ€™s bank.

To complete your day, youโ€™ll make the journey back to La Macarena to rest up and enjoy a spot of dinner before tomorrowโ€™s adventure.

  • Day 4 The River Of Seven Colors, Caรฑo Cristales!
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

The River Of Seven Colors, Caรฑo Cristales!

tโ€™s day 2 of your adventure in La Macarena and finally the day youโ€™ll get to visit the amazing Caรฑo Cristales.

Youโ€™ll be collected after breakfast and start your first leg of todayโ€™s journey with a 20-minute boat ride up the Rio Guayabero before transferring into a 4x4 for another 40 minutes or so. And then finally a hike of around an hour to reach the River of Seven Colors, Caรฑo Cristales!

On arrival, youโ€™ll enjoy walking around to find the best spots for the perfect photo and enjoy a wonderful swim in these magical and refreshing lagoons, filled with crystal-clear waters, in this idyllic location.

After enjoying a typical lunch, bathing in the pools, and a bit of meditation in this peaceful scene youโ€™ll start to make your way back taking the way you came, with a mixture of hiking, boating, and 4x4. Only this time with a camera full of memories and a little piece of paradise locked in your heart.

  • Day 5 Laguna Del Silencio (Silence Lake)
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Laguna Del Silencio (Silence Lake)

After breakfast, your guide will take you on a short boat ride along the Guayabero River in a different direction than before. Youโ€™ll then embark on a 40-minute horse ride through farmland, crossing bridges and creeks, until you reach a small Finca. From there, youโ€™ll continue on foot through farmland, Amazon jungle, and mangroves, boarding a rowboat in the Lagoon of Silence. During the 20-minute paddle, youโ€™ll witness unique palm tree formations and be cautious of the diverse wildlife in the water.

After a stop for lunch, relaxation, and a game of Tejo, youโ€™ll venture further up the lagoon, crossing more mangroves and hiking through the Amazon jungle for 30-40 minutes. Youโ€™ll reach a finca where you can enjoy snacks, a cool drink, and swim in the river surrounded by fruit trees and the occasional monkey sighting. Finally, youโ€™ll return on horseback to the Guayabero River and head back to your hotel, cherishing the incredible memories made throughout the day.

  • Day 6 Caรฑo Piedras And Back To Reality!
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Caรฑo Piedras And Back To Reality!

Waking before the birds begin to sing youโ€™ll climb to the rooftop of El Mirador hotel to enjoy one of the most beautiful sunrises Colombia has to offer. The sunrise viewed in Los Llanos is simply amazing, with views over the vast plains youโ€™ll see the bright red light slowly start to peak through the dark sky followed by a slow-burning orange enveloping the horizon.

Before you jump on that plane back to reality you have time for one last exploration of this surrounding area. So youโ€™ll go back downstairs to enjoy some breakfast before taking off to enjoy Caรฑo Piedras. Before arriving at this bird loversโ€™ paradise, youโ€™ll be making a stop to plant a tree and leave your mark on this wonderful destination.
