Itinerary of your trip 19 Days Manaslu - Tsum Valley Trek

  • Day 1 Day 1: Drive Kathmandu To Machhakhola(870)

      Day 1: Drive Kathmandu To Machhakhola(870)

      The trek begins as you take a short tour drive from Kathmandu to Machhakhola. Today you will drive along various landscapes of the hilly region to arrive at your starting point of this trek.


      After breakfast, you can prepare for your trip by packing your bags and getting on a bus. We will then head out and follow a scenic trail along Prithvi Highway to arrive at Malekhu. From here, driving through the Trishul river, you head towards Dhading, which is about 30 km away.


      The travelers will pass through bumpy roads and highways. Following the trail, you will pass through Arughat and reach Gola Bhanjyang. These incredible views of snow-capped mountains, including the Ganesh Himal, Mt. Manaslu, etc., will enchant along the trail.


      From there, you will drive around various narrow cliffside roads to arrive at Soti Khola. Soti Khola is a beautiful settlement of the region that provides incredible views of snow-capped mountains and other diverse trails along the area. We drive another 1.5-2 hours to reach the Machhakhola. In the evening you can explore the region, and then observe beautiful views of snow-capped mountains.You can take a rest in the lodge after arriving and have dinner. You will rest overnight at the lodge. 

  • Day 2 Day 3: Trek To Jagat (1340M)

      The next day, From Machhakhola we follow a narrow trail that takes us to Tharo Khola and finally to Khorlabesi. After a few ascends and descends, we reach a popular hot-spring, Tatopani. We will spend sometime here and can enjoy the natural sauna in the hot -spring and relieve all our tiredness and stress of the trek.we climb another ridge and cross the Budhi Gandaki on another suspension bridge. After this, we climb a staircase and then cross a landslide and a ridge to reach Doban. After crossing a suspension bridge, we again climb stone staircase then go down to the river and climb some stairs again to reach Thado Bharyang. Then we cross the west bank of Budhi Gandaki, climb over a ridge, walk along the river to reach the village of Jagat where we spend the night.

  • Day 3 Day 4: Trek To Lokpa (2,240M)

      Today we will hike on a rocky and rugged trail. We will climb up and down the ravines. From here, we can have a beautiful view of Sringri Himal, as we hike up to reach Lokpa at 2249m. It takes about 6-7 hour hiking. We spend night at Local lodges.

  • Day 4 Day 5: Trek To Dumje (2,460M)

      Today the trek will be around 7 hour long. We will trail uphill from Lokpa and head up over a ridge that takes us to Ganesh Himal Base Camp and from there to Chumling. Chumling is located on the south of Shingri Himal, and is also known as lower Tsum.Then continue for the few more hour then you reach Dumje. Overnighta Local lodge.

  • Day 5 Day 6: Trek To Nile- Chule (3,361M)

      After breakfast we will trek to Chule which will take us 7 hours. This is the last village leading north into the Upper Tsum Valley. Nile is situated on the west side of the Shiar Khola, which is about 20 minutesโ€™ walk across from Chule. We can visit the Piren Phu cave on our way to Tsum, which is located at the foot of a rocky cliff near the Burji Village. We can have the most beautiful view of the surrounding Shiar Khola, Rachen Gompa, mountains and the farming land.  The trek will be around 7 hours long. Overnight at Local Lodge.

  • Day 6 Day 7: Trek To Mu Gompa (3,710M)

      We will hike uphill to Mu Gompa, the biggest monastery of the region. It is situated at the highest and farthest point of the Tsum Valley. Built in the 1800s this monastery houses important religious books, Kangyur, a life sized statue of Avalokiteshwara, and images of Tara and Guru Padmasambhava. The trek will be around 4 hours long for the day. Overnight at Lodge.

  • Day 7 Day 8: Exploration Day Around Mu Gompa

      Day 8: Exploration Day Around Mu Gompa

      We will visit the whole day around the area and go for small climbs in the snow peaked mountains. We can reach the base of Pika Himal. We get a spectacular view of Tibet and the beautiful peaks on the Tibetan region and the Ganesh Himal. Overnight at Local Lodge.

  • Day 8 Day 9: Trek To Rachen Gompa (3,240M)

      From here we will take the trail to reach Rachen Gompa. It is a nunnery situated in the Shiar Khola Valley, in the footsteps of mountains bordering Nepal and Tibet. It was established in the early 1900s and is one of the largest and important village in Tsum and whole of Nepal. It is home to nuns of the Ngak-Pa sect. there are 1000 magnificent clay statues of Avalokiteshwara. The trek will be around 5 hours long. Overnight at Local Lodge.

  • Day 9 Day 10: Trek Down To Chumling (2385M)

      The hike down to Chumling will take around 7-8 hours. Chumling is a big village of on this area. Overnight at Local Lodge.

  • Day 10 Day 11: Trek To Deng (1860M)

      We will go downhill today with beautiful view of Ganesh Himal and Manaslu accompanying us. where you will have lunch and continue our trip from a steep gorge and then descend through grassy slopes to cross the Budhi Gandaki and then cross bridges from west to east bank and back again. As the trail widens, we pass through bamboo forests to reach the Deng Khola. After crossing the river, we reach the tiny Deng village where we spend the night.We rejoin the Manaslu from Lokpa then we continue to trek to Deng. Overnight at Local lodge.

  • Day 11 Day 12: Trek To Namrung (2630M)

      We take a brief walk from Deng and then we cross the Budhi Gandaki and climb to reach Rana. From here we climb for a while and then head west to Budhi Gandaki valley. The trail passes through forests and painted Mani stones and a corner from where we reach Ghap. Then we take the trail through Prok village which allows us to witness the beautiful view of Siring Himal. We follow the river, crossing it at many places and pass through dense forests and Gompas along the way. After crossing the river at a gorge, the trail becomes leveled and after a last steep climb, we reach Namrung where we stay the night. Namrung is the best viewpoint for Siring and Ganesh Himal as well as Mt. Himal Chuli.

  • Day 12 Day 13: Trek To Lho (3180M)

      From Namrung a steep climb and passage through forests take us to Lihi, a village well known for its chortens and barley terraces. After crossing the side valley of Simnang, we pass through Sho and then reach Lho where we spend the night. Late afternoon visit the local monastery after you reached there.

      After crossing the Shyala village, we reach the Sama village where one gets to witness the amazing views of Mount Manaslu and explore the famous Ribung Gompa. The breathtaking view of the high mountains along with glaciers is the highlight of the trip. We stay in Samagaon for the night.

  • Day 14 Day 15: Acclimatizing Day At Samagaun

      Day 15: Acclimatizing Day At Samagaun

      This day is set aside to rest and acclimatize to the increasing altitudes. We stay in Samagaon and explore the surrounding areas or visit Birendra Tal and Anie Gompa. The main attraction of the day is the Pungyen Gompa with a spectacular view of the glaciers but it rather log day only recommended for the fit hikers. It is situated on a hill near Samagaon. We hike up to the Gompa named after the two peaks of Manaslu which means bracelet. It was destroyed when the Japanese first tried to summit the peaks. It was believed that the expedition to reach the summit might have angered the Gods. After the detour, we come back to Samagaon and spend the night there.

  • Day 15 Day 16: Trek To Samdo (3860M)

      We follow the Budhi Gandaki River up to a stream which we cross on a suspension bridge. From here we take the trail on the right to Larkya la. It is a fairly easy trail, passing through Mani walls and juniper and birch forests. We again cross a bridge over Budhi Gandaki and continue forward. From a stone arch, we can see a kani and after crossing it, we reach Samdo where we spend the night.

      We start our day trip by crossing a wooden bridge over Budhi Gandaki River and begin a hike upwards. After crossing a few streams and seeing a glimpse of the Larkya glacier, we go around a valley and make our way upwards again to reach a guesthouse called Dharmashala.  This short walk to Larke Phedi provides enough time and rest to acclimatize for the further trek.

  • Day 17 Day 18: Cross The Larke Pass (5213M) Trek Down To Bimtang (3720M)

      On this day, we make a short climb and reach a valley on the north side of Larkya glacier with exquisite views of Larkya peak. We ascend the moraines of a glacier which becomes quite steep at the end before reaching the pass. From here we can enjoy the breathtaking views of Himlung, Cheo, Kanggru and the Annapurna. It is a longer walk than other days and you reach the guesthouse among the low pastures at the dim lights of dusk. When we finally reach Bhimtang, the exquisite view of Mount Manaslu makes every step worth it.

  • Day 18 Day 19: Bimtang To Dharapani (2300M)

      The trail today passes through various landscapes of the region to arrive at Bhimthang from Dharapani. The tracks then descend and cross a stony glacier before finally ascending from a moraine. The trails then lead you through the dense forests of the region.


      This route will provide you with majestic views of Manaslu, Larke, Nadi, and Chuli Himal. Then you will descend and reach Karcher via Sangura Kharka and Hompuk. The trails then pass through fields and climb uphill to arrive at Gho. The trail takes you to Tilje, passing through Marsyangdi valley.


      It is a beautiful village settlement in the Manaslu region that provides you with the best views of snow-capped mountains. There are various small settlements, and people in the area are generally busy farming and animal rearing. You can find them looking after their freezing sheep and engaged in their traditional lifestyle.


      After breakfast, you will pass through a small ridge and other natural diverse trails along enjoy the stone-paved course. You will then cross over Dudh Khola through the suspension bridge and climb a chorten-shaped arch. You will then pass the top wall and the beautiful Thonje village.


      There is a police checkpoint in the town as you trail ahead to Dharapani. The city remains located in the Annapurna circuit for many trekkers. From Dharapani, you can observe the snow-capped mountains of the region. The trail then takes you around Dharapani, where you will stay overnight at a teahouse. 

  • Day 19 Drive From Dharapani To Kathmandu By Private Jeep.

      Drive From Dharapani To Kathmandu By Private Jeep.

      This Manaslu Circuit Trek itinerary comes to an end in Dharapani as you will take a scenic drive to Kathmandu. Its is diret road from Dharapani -Besishar which might takes about 4 hours drive. Its paved road from Besishar onward journey. After having a healthy breakfast, we will tip our guides and porter and then board a private Jeep to Kathmandu. Following the trail, we will take the route through Prithvi highway to Kathmandu.


      After arriving in Kathmandu, we will stay overnight at a hotel. You can also explore the city and its beautiful landmarks in the evening. You can also experience the fantastic nightlife clubs and pubs in Thamel. You can also go souvenir shopping for your family and friends back home. After having a meal early in the morning, we will continue our journey with a scenic drive to Kathmandu from Dharapani.


      This incredible trekking journey passes through various scenic trails, including natural diversities of green hills, mountain valleys, vast meadows, and deep mountain valleys. This beautiful journey along Prithvi Highway takes around 8-10 hours to complete. You will stay overnight at a hotel in Kathmandu after your arrival.
