To make the most of your visit to this picturesque city, our tour guide will share his knowledge of Luang Prabangโ€™s history, architecture and culture with you.

      Cruise on the Mekong River by local motorboat to Pak-Ou Cave, an extraordinary Buddhist site in the Luang Prabang area. During this excursion on the Mekong, lined with karst rocks and small villages, you can observe life on the banks of the river. After climbing the steps to the entrance of the cave, hundreds of Buddha statues await you.

      In the morning, start your full-day discovery tour of the capital with a visit to the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum (closed mid-June to mid-August). This is a tribute to the architecture of the Lenin Mausoleum in Moscow, a traditional stilt house and the one-pillar pagoda from the 11th century. Later you will visit the Ethnographic Museum. This was founded in 1997 at the Francophonie Summit; it is both a research center and a public museum that provides interesting information about the countryโ€™s 54 ethnic groups.


      In the afternoon, visit the Van Mieu Temple of Literature, located on the site where Vietnamโ€™s first university was founded. The university was built in 1070 by Emperor Ly Thanh Tong for the education of princes and mandarins. With its courtyards, altars and roofs, Van Mieu is a special example of traditional Vietnamese architecture. The tour then continues to the Old Quarter district and the area around Sword Lake. In the evening, you will experience a traditional water puppet theater performance - an art form that was invented a thousand years ago by farmers from the Red River Delta region and was eventually used for royal entertainment during the Ly and Tran dynasties.

      In the morning, you will leave Hanoi for Halong Bay (UNESCO World Heritage Site), which you will reach around midday. Board a modern wooden junk built in the traditional style and explore one of the most impressive karst landscapes in Southeast Asia. On board, you can enjoy the local delicacies from the sea during lunch and dinner. You will also spend the night on board.

      If you get up early in the morning, you will have the best view of the bay with its clear water. After breakfast, you will pass the spectacular sandstone formations of Halong. Discover this remote and idyllic part of the bay and its unique islands. Disembark the boat at around 10:30 and transfer to Hanoi airport. Flight to Danang in the afternoon, welcome at the airport and transfer to the hotel in Hoi An. 2 nights in Hoi An.

      In the morning, you cycle through a lagoon landscape to the small village of Tra Que, which is famous for its vegetable cultivation. Here you will explore herb, spice and vegetable gardens, which you can recognize from afar by their smell. Help the local farmers with the harvest to get some mint and basil for your subsequent introduction to the secrets of Tra Que cuisine. Of course, you can also enjoy the prepared delicacies straight away.


      In the afternoon, you will visit the historic city center of Hoi An, which has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Among other things, you will visit the Japanese bridge, Hoi Anโ€™s landmark, the Chinese temple, old trading houses and Phung Hungโ€™s house.

      After breakfast, continue to the old imperial city of Hue (UNESCO World Heritage Site). The journey to Hue takes you over the Hai Van Pass (Cloud Pass). From here you have a wonderful view of the coastline of Vietnam.


      Once in Hue, you will first visit the tomb of Emperor Minh Mang and the Thien Mu Pagoda on the Perfume River. Hue was the capital of Vietnam from 1802 to 1945 under the emperors of the Nguyen dynasty. Famous for the grace of its palaces, imperial tombs, pagodas and temples on the banks of the Perfume River, it is a place of almost poetic beauty. Todayโ€™s program ends with a visit to the majestic, historic citadel. Overnight stay at the hotel in Hue.

      Drive from Saigon to the Mekong Delta near Cai Be. On a boat trip, you can observe the hustle and bustle and life in the Mekong Delta. On Tan Phong Island, you leave the boat and explore village life. You will see how residents make traditional products from water hyacinths, hut roofs from coconut leaves and delicious rice paper. Then take a sampan boat (rowing boat) on narrow, winding canals. After this adventure, continue the boat trip to An Binh Island, where you will enjoy a refreshing cup of tea accompanied by traditional music and visit a local brickworks. Disembark in Vinh Long and drive back to Saigon by car.

      You leave Ho Chi Minh City early in the morning and drive to the Cu Chi tunnels. Originally, the tunnels were painstakingly dug by hand by the Viet Minh (resistance forces) during the French Indochina War. This network of underground tunnels was further expanded during the American Vietnam War. At their peak, they were 200 kilometers long, 3 to 4 meters deep and equipped with kitchens, sleeping quarters, medical and sanitary facilities. At the end of the tour, you can taste the specialty of Cu Chi, khoai my luoc (boiled cassava) - which was eaten daily during the war.
