DAY 01: Arusha to Mount Kilimanjaro (Day Tour)

After breakfast your driver pickup and transfer you from Arusha to Moshi Marangu gate.Your day tour begins at 07:00hrs Drive 3hours to the Marangu Gate, where youโ€™ll register at the gate with the Kilimanjaro National Park authorities, and begin hiking at around 11.00hrs The Marangu Route, which you follow today, approaches Kilimanjaro from the southeast.Youโ€™ll be attempting to reach the Mandara Hut and will only trek through the lower altitudes, taking our picnic lunch on the way to the Mandara Hut. Once you reach the hut at 14:00hrs, youโ€™ll stop for a rest for 30 minutes and then descend slowly back to Marangu Gate for 2.5 hours. Mupana Travel vehicle will be waiting to pick you up and return you to your hotel in Arusha, arriving at 20:00hrs. Dinner and Overnight at Green Mountain Hotel.

DAY 02: Arusha to Arusha National Park

After breakfast meet Field Crew in the morning at 8:00am. First stop is Arusha Town for any last minute purchases before you head off on safari. Here you will participate in a half day walking safari and a half day game drive.

The Arusha National Park and particularly the Momella Lakes offer gorgeous bird-watching opportunities. The national park is inhabited by over 400 different migrant and resident bird species. There will be much to see and hear during our time here. Stopping in the lush forest that grows along the edge of the ancient volcanic crater, weโ€™ll look for the massive African Crowned Eagle, as well as Mountain Buzzard, African Green Pigeon, Hartlaubโ€™s Turaco, Bar-tailed Trogon, Cinnamon-chested Bee-eater, Moustached Green Tinkerbird, African Palm, Horus, Alpine, Mottled, Little, and Nyanza Swifts, Black Saw-wing, Olive Mountain (Placid), Stripe-faced, and Mountain Greenbuls, Wallerโ€™s, Kenrickโ€™s, and with luck Abbottโ€™s Starlings, and Eastern Double-collared Sunbird.

Weโ€™ll encounter a different set of birds in the more open areas of scrub and grassland, where Rufous-naped Lark, Pangani Longclaw, White-browed Scrub Robin, African Moustached and Cinnamon Bracken Warblers, Trilling and Siffling Cisticolas, and the very local Taveta Golden Weaver will all vie for our attention. The ancient volcanic craters have created wetlands that will be alive with Lesser Flamingos, and this is a reliable site for the normally elusive Greater Painted-snipe.

Into the Arusha National Park, where weโ€™ll find ourselves among Masai Giraffe, Common Waterbuck, Bushbuck, Warthog, Guereza Colobus, Blue Monkey, and Olive Baboon. Hiding in the dappled shade of this magnificent evergreen hill forest we may also find a tiny woodland antelope, the secretive Suni, along with the bay-colored Harveyโ€™s Red Duiker. If we are very lucky we may also catch sight of a Leopard. During evening drive back to Arusha city to Mount Meru Hotel for Dinner and Overnight.

DAY 03: Arusha to Tarangire National Park.

After breakfast the tour departs. First stop is Arusha Town for any last minute purchases before you head off on safari. Afterwards you head towards the Tarangire National Park for a game drive with picnic lunch at the park. Tarangire is well known for its huge elephant population and baobab trees. It forms the center of an annual migratory cycle that includes up to 3000 elephants, 25,000 wildebeest and 30,000 zebras. In Tarangire National Park northern Tanzaniaโ€™s you will enjoy finest birding. The low baobab-clad plains and fever-tree groves here support many cool species including three Tanzanian endemics and near-endemics: Over 550 birds species found in the park including Ashy Starling, Yellow-collared Lovebird, and Rufous-tailed Weaver. The lush grasses are full of ground birds like Northern White-bellied Bustard and both Red-necked and Yellow-necked Francolins and many others. Later afternoon you will drive to Karatu at Ngorongoro Forest Tented Lodge for Dinner and Overnight.

DAY 04: Tarangire to Lake Eyasi.

Take a tour of a Datoga homestead (gheid). The Datoga are semi-nomadic Cushitic pastoralists similar to the Maasai. The women still wear traditional garments made from rust-coloured cow hide covered in red ochre. Their skirts have long fringes and colourful beads and they wear brass bracelets and necklaces. The men wear blue or red striped or checked blankets (shuka) wrapped around their bodies. Enter the Datoga hut and learn about their way of life as you enter their sleeping and living quarters and have a chat. You will also enter the cattle corral where livestock are kept. Like the Maasai the Datoga place precedence on cattle which are central to their subsistence and social structures, later before leaving the are you will walk around the lake shore. After the tour you will return to your lodgings at Ngorongoro Forest Tented Lodge for Dinner and Overnight.

DAY 05: Lake Eyasi to Lake Manyara National Park.

After tasty breakfast from your hotel the tour will departs to Lake Manyara National Park. Lake Manyara National Park offers breathtaking views and a large variety of habitats. Acacia woodlands, water forests, baobab strewn cliffs, algae-streaked hot springs, swamps and the lake itself. And thanks to this the small Park is able to support a large number of animal species and incredible bird life. Manyara has the largest concentration of baboons anywhere in the world, also include Buffalo, Elephant Wildebeest, Zebra, Waterbuck, Warthog, Impala and also Manyara health population lion are famous for their tree-climbing antics.

Lake Manyara National Park has over 300 bird species including Eurasian migrant birds, acacia associated birds, raptors, and 3 endangered Tanzanian species: Rufous-tailed weaver, Ashy starlings and Black-collared Lovebird. The bush clups on the edge of the floodplain is occupied by groups of Long-tailed fiscal, the rare Pangani Long claw. The birds in the Lake Manyara forest are: Silvery-cheeked Hornbill, Narina Trogon, Crowned Hornbill, Schawlowโ€™s Turaco, Emerald Cuckoo, Crowned Eagle and ground dwelling Crested Guinea fowl and many more can also be found in the Lake Manyara National Park. Late afternoon drive back to Karatu at Ngorongoro Forest Tented Lodge for Dinner and Overnight.

DAY 06: Lake Manyara to Serengeti National Park.

After breakfast, the tour will depart for Serengeti National Park, via the beautiful high lying farmland of Karatu and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Leaving the highlands behind, you descend into the heart of wild Africa โ€“ the Serengeti National Park โ€“ with its endless plains, rolling into the distance as far as the eye can see. Then heard to the central park area, known as the Seronera area, one of the richest wildlife habitats in the park, featuring the Seronera River, which provides a valuable water source to this area and therefore attracts wildlife well representative of most of the Serengetiโ€™s species. Arrive in time for lunch and enjoy an afternoon game drive in the Serengeti national park. Early evening youโ€™ll drive to Serengeti at Great Exploration Camps for Dinner and Overnight.

DAY 07-08: Full Day Game Drive in Serengeti National Park.

Full game drive at Northern Serengeti to Mara River in northern Serengeti affords the most dramatic river crossings. Fierce and deep, cliff-sided and rain-swollen, the river takes an enormous toll of the exhausted and terrified wild cattle that surge through its torrential flow, some drowning helplessly, foundering in narrow defiles, floundering in mud, falling victim to crocodile, staggering, exhausted to dry land and often, in confusion, returning to the same scene of their ordeal allowing the cycle to repeat itself. Early evening youโ€™ll drive to Serengeti to Great Exploration Camps for Dinner and Overnight.

DAY 09: Serengeti National Park to Ngorongoro Crater.

The day to say good bye to Serengeti National Park. After breakfast youโ€™ll have early morning game drives in Serengeti park and after the tour departs to Ngorongoro Conservation area. Youโ€™ll stopover at Olduvai Gorge, boasting with a history dating back to the dawn of time. It was here, that the anthropologists Drs. Lois and Mary Leakey discovered the skulls of โ€˜Nutcracker Manโ€™ and โ€˜Handy Manโ€™, both very significant links in the chain of human evolution, as one among of our Tanzania History. Youโ€™ll meet expertise who will provide you much information about human evolution History in the area. Later afternoon proceed to Ngorongoro Conservation Area to Ngorongoro Rhino Lodge where youโ€™ll have your Dinner and Overnight.

DAY 10: Ngorongoro Crater to Arusha.

After an early breakfast, you will descend over 600 meters into the crater to view wildlife. Supported by a year round water supply and fodder, the Ngorongoro conservation Area supports a vast variety of animals, which include herds of wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, eland, warthog, hippo and giant African elephants. Another big draw card to this picturesque national park, is itโ€™s dense population of predators, which include lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs and the ever-elusive leopard, which sometimes requires a trained eye to spot. You will visit Lake Magadi, a large but shallow alkaline lake in the southwestern corner, which is one of the main features of the crater. A large number of flamingos, hippos and other water birds can usually been seen here. Late afternoon youโ€™ll drive back to Arusha to your hotel.
