Itinerary of your trip Ushuaia: Land Of Ice & Fire

  • Day 1 Day 1: Ushuaia
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 1: Ushuaia

Welcome to Ushuaia! Upon your arrival in Ushuaia, you will be taken to your selected hotel (shared service).

Ushuaia is a small town, really easy to get around on foot. The Yamanas, its first inhabitants, called it Ushuaia which means โ€™protected bayโ€™ in their language. It was officially incorporated into the Republic of Argentina in 1884, and it soon became a penal colony, in order to establish a permanent Argentine settlement.

Take the afternoon to explore the town or visit one of its curious museums, like the Thematic Gallery of the Historia Fueguina, to see the more than 120 character life-size figures that will tell you all about the history of Ushuaia, or unearth the story of the scariest and dangerous criminals at the Prison Museum. And please, donโ€™t forget the local gastronomy! Ushuaia is the best place to eat seafood. We suggest you try the finger-licking Blake Hake.

  • Day 2 Day 2: Ushuaia: Trekking & Canoeing In Tierra Del Fuego National Park
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 2: Ushuaia: Trekking & Canoeing In Tierra Del Fuego National Park

We will pick you up at your hotel in the morning to start the excursion (shared service). Today youโ€™ll visit Tierra del Fuego National Park, just 12 km (7.4 miles) away from the city and lying on the shore of the famous Channel sailed by Charles Darwin.

Once at Ensenada Bay, you will have time to enjoy the view over the Beagle Channel before starting your hike along the coast. Six kilometers (3.7 miles) of wild trail await, where youโ€™ll discover native flora and wild fauna and the remains left by the Yamanas, the native inhabitants of the area.

After this 3 hour hike, you will reach Lake Roca, where lunch will be served. After a full homemade picnic, you will start the second part of this adventure. Grab your oar and plunge into this 1 h 30 canoeing trip along Lapataia river. Make it all the way till Lapataia Bay, where the Panamerican Highway and National Route 3 end at an awe-inspiring landscape. After discovering the unique vastness of this forbidding setting, weโ€™ll drive you back to your hotel (shared service) so you can rest and enjoy another Patagonian evening.

      Duration: 8-10 hours

Included: transportation mentioned above, bilingual guide (English/Spanish)

Not included: entrance fee to the National Park

      Day 3: Ushuaia -Full-Day Lakes Off-Road

At the indicated time, we will pick you up at your hotel to leave for the Lakes.

We will cross a glacial valley towards the Northeast to cross the Garibaldi pass; the only road pass that crosses the chain of the Fuegian Andes. From the top of the Cordillera, you will see Lake Escondido, a small wonder at the bottom of the valley.

Near the northern end of Lake Escondido, we will leave the asphalt and begin a journey through the old roads of a sawmill that soon become impassable trails for conventional vehicles and end at Lake Fagnano, the fifth largest lake in Argentina.

In the forest near the Fagnano coast, we will have free time to walk and explore while the guide prepares a full meal that is enjoyed comfortably in an exclusive refuge in the middle of a natural environment, far from the noise of modern life.

In 1833 Charles Darwin sailed the Beagle Channel and discover something great. Today it is your turn: become another explorer of this channel, primitively named Onashaga Channel since the Onas were its first sailers.

You will gain panoramas of Ushuaia Bay, where the city lies proudly crowned by the Martial Glacier. Unearth the diverse marine wildlife, such as cormorants (flying birds, closely related to penguins) and fur seals that frolic their time away on Alicia Island.

Argentina standing at your left and Chile at your right, you will sail this natural border till reaching the iconic Les Eclaireurs lighthouse, the ancient guard of the bay.

On our way back, we will stop at Bridges Island to walk a wildlife interpretative path, hear about Yamanโ€™s history (the native inhabitants), and see the largest shelly deposits of the region. During the excursion, you can enjoy a delicious hot chocolate with cookies or try the Mate (strong green tea) the favorite Argentine drink.
