      Day 1: Nepal To Bhutan To Thimphu - International Flight From Nepal To Bhutan Using Drukair!

      This morning we will check out of our hotel at around 7 a.m. and head to the airport for our flight to Bhutan at 8.45 a.m. The Druk Airways flight to Bhutan is one of the most stunning flights in the world. You will enjoy breath-taking views of Mt. Everest, Kanchenjunga, Jomolhari and other Himalayan peaks as we head to Bhutan. On arrival we will drive for 1.5 hours to our hotel in Thimphu.

      After lunch we will head to: Kuenselphodrang (commonly known as Buddha Point) where the largest Buddha statue in the country sits on the hillside overlooking the Thimphu Valley. We will take a 20-30 minute hike through the Kuensel Phodrang Nature Park while enjoying magnificent views down to Thimphu Valley and to mountain peaks. A visit to the National Textile Museum is an ideal stop-off to see the art of traditional weaving being kept alive and preserved through numerous exhibitions. Many of these textiles are old and rich in colour.

      After breakfast, we will visit the following: Bhutan Post Office Headquarters where you can get personalized Bhutanese postage stamps with your photo on them. You can use your favorite photo to put on the stamps and use these stamps on your postcard to send to your family and friends. The next point of interest is the Traditional Bhutanese paper making factory. The handmade paper making methods in Bhutan have continued since the 8th century. The traditional paper is highly regarded for its quality both in Bhutan and overseas. Jungshi Paper Factory was established in November 1990 by the Royal Government of Bhutan. The School of Traditional Painting of Arts and Crafts is where students undertake a six-year course on the 13 traditional arts and crafts of Bhutan. The Centenary Farmers’ Market (open from Thu-Sun only) is where Thimphu’s population and many valley farmers come together at the bustling weekend market located next to the Wangchu River. You will see foodstuffs and local arts and crafts sold at the market, which is open from Friday afternoon till Sunday evening. The vibrant market atmosphere is an ideal place to snap a few photos while chatting with the locals.  Archery is Bhutan’s national game and can be observed at Changlimithang National Stadium at 1.30pm. We will stop for lunch along the way before heading to Paro.

      At Paro you will visit the Rinpung Dzong (fortress), built in 1645 to defend the valley against Tibetan invaders from the north. The Dzong is now serves as an administration center and school for monks. The Dzong is now being used as an administrative office of the Rimpung Bridge (traditional cantilever bridge), that happens to be the oldest bridge in Bhutan. We will then head out to visit several farm houses in the Paro Valley and watch the farmers perform their daily chores. We then head into Paro town and market where you can browse the local shops and enjoy chatting with the local people. We then check in to our hotel at around 6.00pm.

  • Day 3 Day 3: Paro - Tiger’S Nest

      Day 3: Paro - Tiger’S Nest

      At around 8.30 a.m. we will hike up to Taktsang Monastery, also known as ‘Tiger’s Nest’. The climb up to the viewpoint will take about 1 ½ hours and from there you will have spectacular views of the monastery that is perched on the side of the cliff.  After a refreshment break at the View Point Cafeteria we will walk higher up to the monastery which will should take about 1 ½ hours. It is believed that in the 8th century sage, Guru Rinpoche, flew on the back of a tigress from eastern Bhutan to this place and meditated in a cave here for 3 months.

      The principal Lhakhang (monastery) of the present monastic complex dates from 1692. Taktsang was severely damaged by fire in 1998 but has since been fully restored to its former grandeur. After visiting the monastery we will head to the cafeteria for lunch and then continue down to the road from where we head to Kyichu Temple, one of the 108 temples built in the 7th century by the Tibetan King Songsten Gampo. The legend is that a giant demon lay across the entire region of Tibet and the Himalayas and was preventing the spread of Buddhism. To overcome this demon, King Songsten Gampo built 108 temples placed on all the points of her body. After dinner at the hotel there is s cultural show, then free time for the rest of the evening.

      Day 4: Bhutan To Nepal - Flight From Bhutan To Nepal!

      This morning we will check out of our hotel and be taken to the airport for our departure to Nepal. On arrival at Kathmandu, you will be transported to your hotels in Thamel. You will have time in the afternoon to browse the meandering streets of Thamel for some last-minute shopping before your departure from Nepal.
