      Day 1: Enter The Kingdom Of Bhutan

      Kuzuzangpo la! Descend into the secluded Kingdom of Bhutan and take in the captivating views of the Eastern Himalayas as you fly into the Paro valley. On landing at the Paro International Airport, you will be welcomed by your guide with a customary Tashi Khaddar, a white scarf of auspiciousness before proceeding for the sightseeing.

      Discover the Himalayan mountains studded with sacred temples and Dzongs

      Traverse the traditional wooden cantilever bridge to reach Paro Rinpung Dzong (translated to the fortress on a Heap of Jewels) and explore the astonishing architecture and paintings before visiting the National museum to discover the artifacts dating back to 4000 BC. The National Museum or the Ta Dzong served as a watch tower to protect the Paro Dzong from the invaders in the olden days.

      Later take a short drive to Namgay Artisanal Brewery and enjoy different flavor of Bhutanese Beer or you can take a stroll in Paro town set in the authentic Bhutanese style.

      Day 2: Tigerโ€™S Nest Hike (Acclimatization)

      Hike to the most iconic landmark of Bhutan - The Tigerโ€™s Nest. Get your energy up at breakfast as you will be hiking to the Tigerโ€™s Nest monastery (Paro Taktsang) resting at the sheer edge of the cliff, 900 meters above the valley floor. The monastery is at an elevation of 3,120 meters above sea level and is an overwhelming sight to behold.

      Taktsang or Tigerโ€™s Nest, acquired its name from the legend of its foundation, when in the 8th century, Guru Rinpoche, widely revered as the second Buddha in Bhutan, arrived from Tibet flying across the mountains on the back of a tigress and meditated there for three months and blessed the place by his presence and preached tantric Buddhism.

      The duration of the hike is about 4 -6 hours. 

      Later visit the ancient Kichu Lhakhang and discover the stories connected to its construction in the 7th century before calling off the day.

  • Day 3 Day 3: Gunitsawa- Shanazampa (Jomolhari Trek Starts)

      Drive from your hotel in Paro to Drukgyal Dzong in the Northern part of Paro. The Jomolhari trail starts from Gunitsawa village where you will pass the army post where your trek permit will be endorsed. This will be handled by your guide. The camp is not far from Gunitsawa.

  • Day 4 Day 4: Shanazampa- Thangthangkha

      Day 4: Shanazampa- Thangthangkha

      Today marks one of the longest days of your trek, as it will take approximately 8 hours to reach the Thangthangka campsite, situated at an elevation of 3,610 meters. The trek will lead you alongside the Paro River, gradually ascending through a mixed forest adorned with blue pine and oak. As you continue, the landscape transitions into a mesmerizing blend of tall rhododendron, birch, fir, and maple vegetation. Although the path is relatively straightforward, do expect it to be rocky and coarse, punctuated by several small timber bridges.

      Around midday, you will pause for a well-deserved lunch break at either Shingkarap or Thombuzam, located at an altitude of 3,305 meters. Reenergized, you will resume your trek for approximately 8 more hours, ultimately arriving at an expansive meadow that opens up before you. This picturesque meadow faces the majestic Mt. Jomolhari, standing tall at 7,326 meters. Weather permitting, this will be your first opportunity to catch a glimpse of the awe-inspiring mountain. Upon your arrival, your dedicated trekking crew will have already set up camp in this breathtaking setting.

      We highly recommend rising early to witness the breathtaking sunrise as it casts its golden rays upon the peak of Mt. Jomolhari. Capturing this incredible view is truly a sight to behold.

      As you continue your journey, follow the course of the Paro River. The trail will lead you through expanses of alpine meadows, offering panoramic views of high mountain ridges adorned with glistening snow-capped peaks. Along the way, youโ€™ll encounter an army checkpoint, which your knowledgeable guide will handle for you, ensuring a smooth passage.

      Todayโ€™s highlights on the Jomolhari Trek include passing through the charming villages of Soe Takethang and Dangochang. These villages provide a glimpse into the local way of life, and you will have the opportunity to observe the long-haired and robust mammals known as yaks. The sight of these magnificent creatures, along with the herdersโ€™ homes, is a common occurrence throughout the dayโ€™s trek.

      As you approach the end of your journey for the day, you arrive at Jangothang, one of the most awe-inspiring campsites in the entire Himalayan region. Nestled amidst natureโ€™s grandeur, Jangothang offers a truly spectacular view of Mount Jomolhari. Take the time to savor this remarkable sight and appreciate the immense beauty that surrounds you.

      At the Jangothang base camp of Mt. Jomolhari, it is common for most trekkers to take a break to appreciate the awe-inspiring beauty of the towering Jomolhari Mountain and to allow their bodies to acclimatize to the higher altitude.

      During your stay at the Jangothang base camp, youโ€™ll have the opportunity to embark on remarkable day hikes that offer breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. One such hike is a leisurely two-hour trek to the serene twin Tshophu Lake, which serves as the source of the Paro Chhu (Paro River). As you explore the area, keep an eye out for the elusive Bharal or blue sheep, which are often spotted on the slopes of the upper valley.

      For the remainder of the day, take in the tranquil atmosphere and the serene silence of the mountains. Allow yourself to be immersed in the soothing ambiance, giving you the perfect opportunity to rejuvenate your mind and body amidst the majestic natural surroundings.

      The trail for today leads through the final settlement in the valley, an incredibly remote and isolated region. It begins with a challenging ascent from the Jangothang base camp, taking you into an area of glacial moraine that unveils a stunning sight of the sharp ridges stretching from Mt. Jichu Drake. Prepare yourself for a demanding climb, navigating a steep scree slope that may occasionally be covered in snow. Eventually, you will reach the Nyile La Pass, situated at an altitude of 4,890 meters. While the pass is often windy, it rewards you with a panoramic view of the surrounding mountains. From here, you can behold a full-circle spectacle of majestic peaks, including Mt. Jomolhari (7,326 meters), Mt. Jichu Drake (6,662 meters), and the magnificent Tshering Gang (6,789 meters).

      After crossing Nyile La Pass, your descent commences, guiding you through scree slopes along the hillside and a ridge that leads you to Lingzhi Dzong. Lingzhi Dzong is perched at an elevation of 4,370 meters, and you will set up camp below it, at approximately 4,000 meters, near a community building constructed from stone.

      The trek route ascends towards a small white stupa perched on a ridge above the camp, leading to the majestic Yeli La Pass, situated at an elevation of 4,930 meters. Upon reaching the pass, youโ€™ll be rewarded with a magnificent panoramic view encompassing Mt. Jomolhari, Gangchen Ta, Tshering Gang, and Masagang. Take a moment to soak in the grandeur of these awe-inspiring peaks. From the pass, the trail descends steeply, guiding you towards the campsite.

      The trekking trail winds along the picturesque Thimphu Chhu (Thimphu River), meandering through enchanting forests adorned with Rhododendron, Juniper, and alpine trees. Along the way, youโ€™ll be treated to glimpses of breathtaking waterfalls that grace the landscape. As you traverse through the narrow valley, the path gradually ascends, eventually leading you to the intriguing ruins of Barshong Dzong.

      The trail takes a steep descent through a dense forest adorned with vibrant rhododendrons, birch, conifer, maples, and bamboo. As you make your way downward, the trail eventually reaches the banks of the Thimphu Chhu (Thimphu River), following its course for a stretch. Continuing along the river, the path gradually ascends once again, leading you to a serene pastureland situated at an altitude of 3,320 meters. This beautiful spot will serve as your campsite for the night.

      The trail meanders through a forested area located above the Thimphu Chhu (Thimphu River). Following a gradual ascent through a mix of coniferous and broadleaf trees, the trail eventually descends steeply towards the river, leading you to Dodena at an elevation of 2,600 meters. At Dodena, you will exit the Jigme Dorji National Park and reach the road, where your vehicle will be awaiting your arrival. From there, you will embark on a refreshing drive to your hotel in Thimphu, concluding your trekking journey.

      Begin your day with a wholesome breakfast at your hotel before embarking on a drive to Kuenselphodrang. Take this opportunity to capture the vibrant Buddha Dordenma statue, which radiates serenity atop the mountain. Not only is the statue captivating, but the view of Thimphu city from this vantage point is also simply gorgeous.

      Next, make a visit to the National Memorial Chorten, an iconic landmark in Thimphu. This white-washed stupa holds great significance as people from all walks of life gather here to circumambulate throughout the day. Observe the diverse sight of elderly citizens reciting mantras and chanting prayers with deep devotion, alongside school-going children making their rounds dressed in their uniforms. The paintings and statues inside the monument offer a profound insight into Buddhist philosophy, providing a deeper understanding of the spiritual teachings.

      Later, explore the magnificent Thimphu Tashichho Dzong, an exquisite and massive structure that exemplifies Bhutanese architecture. Marvel at the grandeur of the building as you step into the distinguished Grand Kuenrey, the most splendid room within the Tashichoe Dzong. Here, the assembly of monks gathers to perform their daily prayers in front of the monumental Buddha statue.

      The remainder of the day is free for you to explore the charming city of Thimphu at your leisure. Take this opportunity to discover its unique attractions and immerse yourself in the vibrant local culture.
