Leopard Gorge, in the heart of the conservancy, is famous as the setting of countless National Geographic documentaries.

  • Day 8 Gorilla Trekking
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Gorilla Trekking

After breakfast, set out in search of magical encounters with the families of Mountain gorilla that makes the Virunga Mountains their home. A wildlife experience with the magnificent mountain gorilla is like no other.

Savor every second as you watch them foraging, playing, teasing each other, eating, or slumbering in an uncanny resemblance to ourselves. At times the trek to view them may be arduous, with steep rises covered in dense vegetation. Inhabiting areas which are not easily reachable, gorillas reside where food plants are abundant near the ground and think nothing of climbing incredibly lofty hills to get to them.

Your challenging trek will be richly rewarded when you first set eyes on these extraordinary creatures. Try to spend as much time as possible here, where Dian Fossey carried out her ground-breaking research.

Golden Monkey Trekking / Spa Treatment

After breakfast, step out in search of the Golden Monkeys. Watch the playful and curious golden monkey, only found in the high-altitude forests of the Volcanoes National Park. They are searching the lush vegetation at the foot of Mount Sabyinyo for one of two habituated groups of the golden monkey, one of them a troop of more than 80.

Spend an hour watching as they leap among bamboo shoots or tumble among the dense foliage on the forest floor. The golden monkeys are entertaining, swinging through the bamboo or racing after one other in circles. They are beautiful, with shiny reddish-gold backs. Hiking to see them is done at a leisurely pace.

The primates inhabit the bamboo forests at the bottom of the mountain range, and the terrain here is flat and easy to hike. Return for lunch, and then you will be pampered with a 90-minute Terre Blanche Body Mask to rejuvenate those muscles with Bentonite Clay, Buchu & Aloe Ferox, followed by a full body massage.

The new routing gives players considerable variety in terms of the whole length, the direction of play, and elevation, which will reward accuracy and strategic club selection.

In addition, the new clubhouse and driving range adds to its appeal. In the afternoon, visit the Kigali Genocide Museum. Almost 250 000 victims of the genocide against the Tutsi tribe are buried within the grounds of the Kigali Genocide Memorial โ€“ a quarter of the one million Rwandans killed during the atrocities that swept the country in 1994.
