We meet with you at your accommodation Marrakech 8.00am to begin your historically authentic Desert Tour via the once camel caravan trading route of the Moroccan south. Only by seeing, is to believe the momentous and spectacular road trip over the High Atlas Mountains & Tichka Pass that awaits you.

On route you have the opportunity to visit a rural, high quality culinary and cosmetic womens Argan Oil Co-operative before visiting the first Kasbah of the tour, the iconic UNESCO Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou. Meting with your private local guide you will discover that this historic and sprawling Kasbah community is still home to a few remaining families and resident artisans. It is also an important international film set location and was featured in the popular series ’Game Of Thrones’. Departing the Kasbah we journey to the Berber market town of Agdz, known for its trade in dates and Artisan carpets. We stop to tour with a private local guide, the atmospheric Kasbah Tamnougalt just beyond Agdz that offers you panoramic views from its terrace when you break for lunch. After lunch you begin your journey through the spectacular date palm lined Draa Valley with its crumbling Kasbahs and Berber villages and where we stop for refreshments at a unique little-walled palm oasis garden. We then visit the atmospheric Kasbah Oulad Othmane which is close by the garden before arriving at our home town of zagora and where our family are based.

Remote Saharan Adventure Off-Piste We Go !

We meet with you at your accommodation after breakfast and take the short few minutes drive to the Zagora Palmerie for a relaxed walk through this unique landscape. You also have the opportunity to meet with local Artisans who reside in the Palmerie and who are known throughout Morocco for their specailised hand crafted silver jewellery making. Leaving Zagora you then visit the ancient Saharan village of Tamegroute where time has stood still. Here you have the opportunity to tour with a private local guide and resident the partial underground Kasbah which is still home to several families before touring the Tamegroute Artisan Pottery. Its wood fired outdoor kilns, workshops and the firing process remains virtually unchanged since the mid-1600’s ! It is the oldest and most important pottery in Morocco, famed for its unique green glazed ceramics that adorn palaces and buildings of significance throughout Morocco. Departing Tamegroute village you next arrive at the Saharan villge of M’hamid. M’hamid is where the tarmac road ends, outstretched before you now, is only the mighty Sahara, which is quite a sight ! We stop to have lunch with Desert Nomads whom we know well, out on the Desert piste, before traversing the approx 60Km Desert piste & dune drive into your camp. You meet with Once at camp take an optional climb to the top of one of the towering dunes for a panoramic view over the Sahara. A view and experince you will never forget especially if you decide to sandboard back down the dune ! Alternatively, relax at camp taking in your ’out of this world’ and ’wow’ factor surroundings before meeting with your camel guide and camel to experience an approx 1hr magical camel ride around the dune set at sunset. Once settled at your glamping camp, enjoy later in the evening, the traditional live Saharan music, campfire and dinner that will be served at camp.

Historic Camel Caravan Routes & Remote Berber Villages.

An optional early rise to climb to the top of one of the towering dunes for a panoramic view of the sunrise over the Sahara, is a great workout for sure with a view and experince you will never forget. Optional informal sandboarding is also available to you this morning. We depart camp after breakfast to begin your exhilarating and bumpy 90Km Desert piste & dune approx 3hr drive out of the Sahara which drive differs from the entrance route and follows in part the old Paris Dakar Rally route. You also have the opportunity to view the now dry Lake Iriqui, which due to global warming has driven out many Saharans and Nomads from the Desert. We break for lunch at the Saharan Desert exit town of Foum Zguid and after lunch depart the Sahara Region to journey into Tata province. We make a brief stop at the Berber town of Tazenakht known for its handmade Morocan rugs made with natural dyes such as henna and pomegrante. Should you wish to visit a womens carpert co-operative here while they work on the looms, you are welcome to do so. Please just let us know, as we do not routinely take our clients shopping. On leaving Tazenakht we begin the approx 1hr 30mins drive into the High Atlas Mountains to arrive in the natural valley environment of Fint Oasis and village, which is off-the-beaten-track and not often visited due to it being off the main visitor routes. Here you can relax in the lush, green valley. It is a beautiful valley to stretch your legs and explore. Fint is a traditional Berber village, simple, time forgotten and once again on this tour, leaves you with the feeling that you have entered into another world, time and place !

Fint Oasis To Imperial City Marrakech Via High Atlas Mountains

Experience Berber Village Life & High Atlas Mountain Trails. We meet with you at your accommodation after breakfast. This morning you have the unique opportunity to engage with local residents in Fint who love to meet with visitors who arrive in their oasis. Please let us know when on tour, if you would like to share in the communal bread making with the women of the village and take an optional walking or mule trip through the valley, before we have lunch in a traditioanl family home. We depart Fint Oasis after lunch and staying with the off- the- beaten-track, we visit the historically important Kasbah Telouet. Telouet is crumbling and in the process of being restored. The ornate Moroccan mosaics and intricate tiled interiors being reclaimed are beautiful and well worth seeing, as are the views from the Kasbah. It is also a lovely location to stop for refreshments before you begin the return journey to Marrakech over the High Atlas Mountains.
