  • Day 1 Day 1: Drive Kathmandu To Sotikhola (710M) 7-8 Hours.

      We will either take a public bus or car with a stop along the way for a lunch break. Tonight we will stay at Soti Khola near the river.

  • Day 2 Day 2: Trek To Machhakhola (870M) 5-6 Hours.

      Our trek today follows a mule track and ascends on a incredible path cut into the face of the cliff, then descend to Lapubesi (880m). We will have to be cautious here! We then head to Nauli Khola, crossing a suspension bridge on the way and then follow the trail beside the Budi Gandaki River before coming to Machha Khola (900m). This is where many trekkers were stranded after the earthquake in 2015 and had to be rescued. Depending on current weather conditions, there is an alternative overnight stop in Kashi Gaun on the east side of the river.

      Today we follow the river to Khorlabesi and the therapeutic hot spring at Tatopani (meaning hot water) (930m), and then head along the eastern bank of the Budi Gandaki River to Doban, Thulo Dunga and Yara Bagar (1370m). The trail zigzags across the river on suspension bridges before reaching the entrance gate to Manaslu Conservation Area and Jagat (1410m), with its unique flagstone village square. Permits are checked by authorities. Uma Holidays Travels & Tours will check that the route is passable, and may propose we take an alternative route on a much higher path on the east side of the river before descending to the old trail near Doban.

      Today we head to the village of Salleri where we have magnificent views of Mount Sringi before descending to Sirdibas, a conventional Buddhist village. The trail continues until we reach Lokpa Village, just north of Philim, and then pass through Ekle Bhatti and climb to a ridge on the trail through a pine forest. We then arrive at a junction where we follow the trail heading to Tsum Valley. We stay the night at Lokpa.

      Today we head to the Tsum Valley. The first sights of Tsum Valley appear as we head to Chumling Village. We continue on the trail until we come to Dumje where we stay overnight.

      This morning we head north into the Upper Tsum Valley. Nile is situated on the west side of the Shiar Khola (river). We can also visit the Piren Phu cave on our way to Tsum which is to be found at the foot of a rocky cliff near Burji Village. We will also have some great views of Shiar Khola, Rachen Gompa and other nearby mountains and farms.

      Today we will head up to Mu Gompa, the biggest monastery in the region. It is located at the head of the Tsum Valley. Built in the 1800s this monastery houses key religious books, Kangyur, a life sized statue of Avalokiteshwara, and images of Tara and Guru Padmasambhava.

      Today we will explore Mu Gompa and the nearby countryside, taking short climbs into the mountains and head to Pika Himal. We will have some fantastic views of Tibet and Ganesh Himal.

      Today we head to Rachen Gompa, a nunnery situated in the Shiar Khola Valley among the mountains close to the Nepal and Tibetan border. It was established in the early 1900โ€™s and is one of the largest and most important villages in Tsum. It is home to nuns of the Ngak-Pa sect. There are 1000 glorious clay statues of Avalokiteshwara.

      Today it is nearly all downhill to Chumling, another large village in this area.

      Today we descend from Chumling to Lokpa after first crossing a suspension bridge. The trail then follows a rocky ridge where we have a grand view of Sringi Himal. We then pass through the village of Ghatta Khola passing by farms growing maize, millet, potatoes and vegetables. We then continue along the banks of the Budhi Gandaki (river) through a bamboo forest before coming to the Deng River.

      Today we climb beyond the Tom Khola (river) to Longa Chuta and then arrive at a charming fir and rhododendron forest filled with birds and Langur monkeys situated on the north side of the Buri Gandaki River. We then cross back to the other side before reaching Namrung (2660m), an earlier customs post in the past when this was a popular route for transporting salt from Tibet. Namrung also suffered widespread damage from the 2015 earthquake, but today it has been restored to its earlier charm.

      Today we head up through the forests to the village of Lihi.  We then pass through a valley near Simnang before coming to Sho and finally Lho where we spend the night. In the afternoon we will visit the local monastery.

      Today we pass through several Tibetan villages and past Gompas (temples) before arriving at Samagaun where we will explore the village. The architecture here is conspicuously Tibetan and their costumes reflect their Tibetan origins. We can also take a short hike up to a Gompa above the town or stroll around the streets and chat with the locals.

      At higher altitudes it is essential to get acclimatized before attempting climbs to higher altitudes. Health specialists recommend that you move about and stay active. A good way to stay active is to explore the Gompa at Pugyen (4070m), a one day hike that leaves the trail between Syaula and Sama. If we have time we can continue on up this valley to the rugged rocks and terrain of the Pugin glacier. Another option is a trip to the lake at Birendra Tal (3450m) and a physically challenging ascent to Manaslu Base Camp (4900m). North of Birendra Tal is Milarepaโ€™s Cave (famous Buddha) said to have been used as a meditation retreat by the Buddhist saint.

      Today the trail heads to the Buri Gandaki River passing the intersection on the trail to Birendra Tal and Manaslu Base Camp. The valley expands before reaching Kermo Khadka and then continues to the white Kani Gateway signaling the entrance to Samdo (3860m). If we have time we may trek to the peak above the village for remarkable views of Mount Manaslu. There is also a  6 t0 7 hour trek climbing 640m to the moraine of the Fukang Glacier, where you will be rewarded with sweeping views towards several passes used by locals to cross over into Tibet.

      Today we cross a wooden bridge over the Budhi Gandaki River and begin a trek higher. After crossing a few streams and getting a glimpse of the Larkya glacier we head around a valley and head higher until we arrive at Dharamsala.

      Today we begin with a short climb to the north side of Larkya Glacier. From this vantage point we have superb views of Cho Danda and Larkya Peak. The climb to the Larkya La (5100m) pass begins with a gradual ascent but then becomes steeper as we reach the pass. After arriving at the top of the pass we are blessed with incredible panorama views of various mountain ranges. The descent from the pass is also physically hard on the legs and we soon arrive at Bhimthang.

      This morning we follow the trail downhill to the Dudh Khola (milk- river in Nepali). We walk through rhododendron forests, narrow valleys and fields before climbing up to the village of Gho. A short while later we arrive at Tilije.

      Today we follow a stone-paved trail through a beautiful village before crossing a bridge over the Dudh Khola. We then pass through an arch and past Mani walls before coming to the village of Thonje. After passing through a police checkpoint we continue towards Dharapani where we join up with the Annapurna circuit. From Dharapani we take Jeep or bus to Besisahar.

      Today we head by road passing the Marsyangdi and Trishuli Rivers and past cultivated fields, deep valleys until we arrive at Kathmandu.
