      Sightseeing In Thimphu

After Breakfast, you will be transferred to Kuensell Phodrang, also known as Buddha Point, which is located atop a hill in the Kuensell Phodrang Nature Park This statue fulfills an ancient prophecy of 8th century AD that was discovered by Terton Pema Lingpa (religious treasure finder) and is said to create an aura of peace and happiness all over the world.

Continue to Kuensel Phodrang to Changgangkha: The hike takes us through populated blue pine forests, with the perfect view of Thimphu Valley. It was initially intended to be a cycling trail, but it is excellent for hiking as well. This trail is part of the 60th birth anniversary celebration of the fourth king of Bhutan.

Then you will also visit Motithang Takin Preserve & Memorial Chorten

Motithang Takin Preserve, is Bhutanโ€™s greatest spot to see the national animal. The zoo was here years ago. The fourth King of Bhutan opposed the zoo since it did not fit with Bhutanese culture, religion, and environment. After the zoo closed, the animals returned to nature. Interesting, the tamed Takin flock hunted in Thimphu. It was decided to return them to the preserve. This top Thimphu destination is best visited in the mornings when the animals feed along the fences.

The Memorial Chorten, also known as the Thimphu Chorten, is a large Tibetan-style Buddhist Monastery that is a popular landmark in the city with its golden spires and bells. It was built in 1974 to honour the memory of the third king, Jigme Dorji Wangchuk. The architecture of the chorten has been designed to present it as one of the most visible religious structures in Thimphu.

Later in the evening, visit Tashichho Dzong.

Bhutanโ€™s stateliest and most majestic building sits on the western bank of the Wang Chu Tashichho Dzong in Thimphuโ€™s north. It has traditionally been the summer capital of Bhutan and the seat of the Druk desi or โ€˜Dharma Rajaโ€™, the leader of Bhutanโ€™s civil government, which has been merged with the royal since 1907. The revered monastic communityโ€™s summer residence and Bhutanโ€™s throne room are there. The Third King, His Majesty King Jigme Dorji Wangchuk, transferred the capital to Thimphu from Punakha and redesigned the medieval dzongs, which are remarkable. The Fortress of the wonderful religion holds the Kingโ€™s throne, the secretariat, and the monk body. Visitors can tour its courtyard during Thimphu Tshechu.
