Transport

  • Day 1 Day 1: Arrive At Kathmandu (1,300M) & Transfer To Hotel.

      A representative from Sherpa Expedition & Trekking will meet you at Tribhuvan International Airport and take you to your hotel in Thamel, followed by a briefing covering information about the trek. You will also get to meet your fellow trekkers.   

  • Day 2 Day 2: Kathmandu Sightseeing And Trek Preparation Day.

      Day 2: Kathmandu Sightseeing And Trek Preparation Day.

      Today we will prepare for our trek and also take a tour of Kathmandu Valley visiting four World Heritage Sites: Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swayambhunath, Bouddhanath and Pashupatinath temple. In the afternoon we will have a trek orientation program where you will also meet the rest of our  team. Tonight we stay at a 3 star hotel.

  • Day 3 Day 3: Drive From Kathmandu To Besi Sahar To Khudi (8,00M) 7-9 Hours.

      Today we follow the road alongside the Trishuli River passing terraced fields and villages until we come to Dumre from where we turn off to Besisahar. Another half an hour drive takes us to Khudi, the starting point of our trek. From Khudi Village you can see the Manaslu range.

       The trail today takes us across several suspension bridges, passing a waterfall and then along an undulating trail through farmland and forests. We then come to the village of Tranche before arriving at Sirung. From here you can have close-up views of Nadi Chuli and Mount Manaslu.

      Today we will enjoy a fairly easy trek to Jagat village. As we follow the trail through forests we will come across a variety of birds and hear their calls. villages and temples. We then cross a suspension bridge over the Sangu Khola (river) at Mipra and then cross over the Marsyangdi River at Syange and follow the river until we come to the final bridge leading into Jagat.

      This morning we head out on the trail and descend to the river and walk through a lush forest. We then leave the river and climb up higher until we come to Chamje that has a background of the fabulous Annapurna Range. Our next destination is Sattale walking along a rock-strewn trail before heading down to the river. We then come to the forested village of Karte. We then cross the suspension bridge and arrive at Dharapani.

      The trail today is one that in the past was affected by landslides. We pass a small village before starting on a gradual uphill trail to Bagarchhap, a characteristic Tibetan style village situated in the forest. From here we follow the left bank of the river towards Koto, the gateway to the admired Nar Phu Valley Trekking route. We have an easy trek from here to Chame that is the administrative center of the Manang District.

      Our trail today passes through Telekhu and on the trail we will have some superb views of Annapurna and Pisang (6091m) until we come to a place where we have to re-cross the river on a suspension bridge to the south bank of the Marsyangdi River. We then climb higher passing a pine forest as we trek through the upper reaches of the Manang Valley to Pisang.

      Pisang is the start of our trek in the upper Manang region. Today we first head to Braga; a Tibetan village with its distinctive architecture and houses constructed one upon the other. One of its main attractions is its Gompa (temple), the largest in the whole Manang region. Manang is popular stopping off point with trekkers and is also an ideal place to acclimatize before heading to higher altitudes.

      Medical professionals recommend that before heading to higher altitudes that trekkers spend time acclimatizing. They also suggest that you remain active during this acclimatization period. Today we will trek up to Mt. Khangsar (3756m) as a way to further help us to acclimatize.

      Today we head to Tilicho Lake located to the west of Manang. After coming to Khangsar Khola (river) we come to Khangsar a traditional Tibetan village. We then continue until we come to Shree Kharka.

      This morning on the trail we pass a Gompa and head up to a high ridge. We then follow a newer trail across the ridge before heading down to the valley floor. We then head into a gorge and Tilicho Base Camp (4,200m). 

  • Day 13 Day 14: Hike Up To Tilicho Lake (4920M) And Trek To Shreekharka 7-8 Hours.

      Early this morning we follow the trail to Tilicho Lake, an inhospitable and cold place. It is said to be the highest lake on earth. We then return to Shree Kharka for the night.

      Today we follow the more popular Annapurna circuit trail that offers some great views of the Annapurnas, Tilicho and Gangapurna peaks. The trail head through the only vegetation at the altitude - juniper bushes and then we come to todayโ€™s destination Yak Kharka.

  • Day 15 Day 15: Yak Kharka To Thorang Phedi (4,600M) 4-5 Hours.

      We will gradually get used to the higher altitudes as we follow the east bank of the Jarang Khola and along the trail come across some steep bluffs before coming to Thorong Phedi (meaning foot hills). If we are lucky we may see the famous blue sheep and even the very secretive snow leopard that inhabits this region. This is also the habit of the Lammergeyer (bearded vulture). There is also a superstition that the mythical griffons live in this region.

  • Day 16 Day 16: Thorang Phedi - Thorang La Pass (5,416M) To Muktinath (3,800M) 7-9 Hours.

      Today is likely to be the toughest day of the trek as we head to higher altitudes where the air is thinner and where it can get quite windy. Along the trail we may pass sheep, yaks and merchants transporting their goods. On reaching Thorong La Pass we will have some stunning views of Annapurna, Gangapurna and the distinct conspicuous peak of Khatungkang (6484m). We will also see Dhaulagiri, (Dhavali giri, meaning โ€œWhite Mountainโ€) the highest mountain that is entirely within the boundaries of Nepal. We then descend for around 1600 metres. The trail is more undulating and less tiring as we head to Muktinath.

      From Muktinath the trail takes us through lush green meadows, past fruit orchards, streams and through the village of Kagbeni before we arrive at Jomson in the Kali Gandaki Valley. The village of Kagbeni has a well earned reputation for its horticulture industry. These villages are a great place to try their very own apple cider products.

  • Day 18 Day 18: Jomsom To Pokhara (850M) 7-8 Hours.

      Today we go by bus from Jomsom to Pokhara. Upon arrival we will check in to our hotel near โ€œLakesideโ€. The remainder of the day is free for you to explore the city or lounge around at a cafรฉ or bar while waiting for the spectacular sunset over the Annapurna Mountains across the lake.

      This is a free day in Pokhara where you can head to various famous temples, visit Davies Falls, the bat cave or go boating on Phew Tal. An interesting place to visit is the World Peace Pagoda that is situated on a hill across the lake and from where you can look back over the entire Pokhara valley.

      Today we head back to Kathmandu by tourist bus. On arrival at Kathmandu you will be taken back to your hotels.

      Today your 21 day Annapurna circuit trek ends. A representative from Sherpa Expedition and Trekking will take you to the airport at least three hours prior to your departure. On your way home you can start planning another trek to maybe a more remote destination in the Himalayas, such as Kanchenjunga or to the Tibetan border.
