  • Day 1 Tierras Orientales - Navigation Downstream Aguarico And Cuyabeno Rivers โ€“ Kichwa Territory โ€“ Kichwa Tower

      Your adventure starts at about 10h30am in the city of San Francisco de Orellana, also called Coca, either at Hotel El Auca or at Cocaโ€™s airport. To kickstart your trip into the Amazon drive for approximately 2 hours to Tierras Orientales. Here you will have a delicious lunch (box lunch) and afterward start your adventure, traveling in a motor canoe along the Aguarico and Cuyabeno Rivers. While getting deeper into the Ecuadorian Amazon until you reach the Balata campsite in the Kichwa Territory, you will already have plenty of chances to spot birds, sloths, and monkeys along the way.


      The canoe ride will take approx. 3 hours, but you will make stops to stretch your legs and enjoy the Amazonian sand beaches of the Aguarico River. In the afternoon you will arrive at the Kichwa territory deep in the jungle. You will visit and climb the kichwa observation tower, built by the local community around a big Ceibo tree where you will have a stunning view over the canopy of the tropical rainforest then return to the campsite and enjoy a fulfilling dinner. 


      After dinner, you will go on a night walk to find different species of spiders, insects, and tree frogs and to enjoy the beautiful sounds from the Rainforest in the dark. Spend the night in tents.

  • Day 2 Swim In The Delfin Cocha Lake

      Swim In The Delfin Cocha Lake

      Start your day with a visit to a salt lick on the riverbank, which many parakeets and parrots visit (note: on rainy days only, a few birds come to these places). After an energizing breakfast, you will continue down the Cuyabeno River to the confluence of Cuyabeno and Aguarico river, where the white waters of the Aguarico River mix with the greenish Cuyabeno River. You will continue for approx. another 3 ยฝ hours towards the border with Peru until you reach the Lagartococha River. 


      Follow the Lagartococha River upstream until reach the campsite situated deep in the remote jungle, and get access to the flooded area shaped by a system of lakes and small rivers. Here you will have the opportunity to discover some freshwater lagoons connected by Black water rivers and explore the different ecosystems of the flooded forest or Varzea region, home to hundreds of animal species. Afterward, enjoy a convenient Box lunch. 


      In the afternoon you will go continue to Delfin Cocha Lake while observing freshwater pink dolphins (Inia Geofrensis) in a motorized canoe to enjoy a refreshing swim in this Amazonian Lake. Enjoy dinner and well-earned sleep at the campsite.

  • Day 3 Remote Secoya Community - Caiman Night Excursion

      Remote Secoya Community - Caiman Night Excursion

      Embark on a serene morning adventure as you silently explore the surrounding area in a paddle canoe before indulging in a delicious breakfast. Later you head up the Lagartococha River by motorized canoe looking for the Terra Firme forest, a pristine primary rainforest. Then you visit Puerto Estrella, a remote Secoya community, where indigenous Peruvians and Ecuadorians live together. Box lunch included. 


      The local guides will explain the traditions that their ancestors have passed on from generation to generation until today. Secoya women usually offer jungle bread made from yucca (manioc) to their visitors. In the afternoon you will return to the camp and in the night you will go on a canoe trip to look for caimans. Overnight and dinner at the campsite.

  • Day 4 Birdwatching โ€“ Cofan Community Visit - Canoe Journey To Kichwa Campsite

      Birdwatching โ€“ Cofan Community Visit - Canoe Journey To Kichwa Campsite

      Start your day bright and early with a delightful birdwatching tour aboard a paddle canoe. After breakfast, youโ€™ll start your way back down the Lagartococha River and then upstream Aguarico River and up the Cuyabeno River to reach the Balata kichwa campsite. On the way you wil stop at a small riverside village from the local Cofan community to see their handicrafts, culture and way of living, this friendly community is called Zabalo. After dinner, we will go for a night walk to find different species of insects, amphibians, and spiders and to listen to the sounds of the rainforest. Overnight and dinner will be spent at the campsite in the Kichwa territory.

  • Day 5 Return To Tierras Orientales
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Return To Tierras Orientales

      Before breakfast, you have the option to go out for a calming morning canoe ride to experience the jungle and its diurnal species waking up while rowing silently with the canoe along the Cuyabeno River. After breakfast, it is time to get your luggage ready for your trip back. Navigate along the Cuyabeno River to get to the Aguarico River and then up to โ€œTierras Orientalesโ€ at 11h00am approximately to make your connection with the transportation that will take you back to Coca and return to civilization with long-lasting memories.
