Day 1: Transnistria Tour From Chsinau City

      Transnistria Tour  from Chsinau city

Our great pleasure is to offer you a new tour in Moldova. Transferring from Chisinau to Transnistria. Become one of the few travelers to visit Transnistria, a breakaway republic in eastern Moldova, where Soviet values are still upheld and locals continue their fight for independence, Tiraspol and Bender city the main!

TIRASPOL is the biggest city in Transnistria. The city is located on the eastern bank of the Nistru River.

In the morning, you will discover

Tighina is located in Tighina town and was built in the 15th century by the prince of Moldova, Stephen the Great. Originally built as a small wooden fort, it was later fortified in stone by the prince of Moldova, Petru Rares.

Occupied by the Ottomans in 1538 (in a campaign lead by the sultan Suleiman the Magnificent), the fort was strengthened in 1541 and became the center of an Ottoman "raya" (in which were included the surrounding Moldavian villages). In the 18th century, the fort was strengthened by Moldovan craftsmen under the direct supervision of Dimitrie Cantemir.

Bender Fortress  is an architectural ensemble of irregular quadrilateral plan, surrounded by wide walls, 2-3 meters thick, made of limestone and brick.

Because Tiraspol has a high density of population in the south and has virtually no borderlines with the adjacent localities, the concept of Tiraspol-Bender agglomeration has appeared; together these two cities account for approximately 350.000 common inhabitants. Bender is located on the right side of the Nistru River, and since 1992 it has been under the governance of Tiraspol. These two neighboring towns are linked to each other through trolleybus lines and minibuses.

Culture. The cultural life and heritage existing in Tiraspol and elsewhere in Transnistria has a strong Slavic characteristic. This refers to theatre, literature and other domains. The language in most cases is Russian and many references will be made to Russian culture in general. In the same time the regionโ€™s administration tries to promote cultural diversity and features Russian culture along with Ukrainian and Moldovan.  Soviet and socialist elements will be found often in Transnistrian cultural environment.

Tiraspol โ€“ Back in the USSR

In the afternoon, you will have lunch at a restaurant in Tiraspol.

After lunch, you will set off on a time travel in Tiraspol. During the city tour, you will discover Vladimir Leninโ€™s monument and the tank left from the Second World War. The city seems to be a vestige of the Soviet past. Nevertheless, you will be amazed by the contrasts, one of which is the football complex โ€žSheriffโ€ - a pearl of contemporary architecture.

โ€œBe our Guestโ€ You have the opportunity to visit the most beautiful and famous winery Cricova Europe.

The biggest cellars in the whole world are, with no doubt, situated in Cricova, Moldova, only a few kilometers north of Chisinau. Here, underground lies a real city of wine โ€“ with wide streets, warehouses, tasting rooms, and so on. In the underground streets like โ€œCabernetโ€, โ€œFeteascaโ€, and โ€œAnd Pinotโ€, buses of tourists find their way to the cellars.

In Moldova, only Cricova cellars employ the strict classic French technology of champagne wine production. So Cricova is a highlight of any visit to Moldova.

Cricova - the famous underground wine city

Being placed under the town Cricova, the cellars form a true underground city with avenues, streets, and broadways. Only their names seem to be so old: Cabernet, Feteasca, Riesling, Aligote, Sauvignon โ€ฆ Every streetโ€™s name corresponds to the wine brand preserved right there, in the adjacent niches.
