Corinth (Greek: ฮšฯŒฯฮนฮฝฮธฮฟฯ‚) was a city-state (polis) on the Isthmus of Corinth, the narrow stretch of land that joins the Peloponnese to the mainland of Greece, roughly halfway between Athens and Sparta. Since 1896, systematic archaeological investigations of the Corinth Excavations by the American School of Classical Studies at Athens have revealed large parts of the ancient city, and recent excavations conducted by the Greek Ministry of Culture have brought to light important new facets of antiquity.

Nafplio (Greek: ฮฮฑฯฯ€ฮปฮนฮฟ) is a seaport town in the Peloponnese in Greece that has expanded up the hillsides near the north end of the Argolic Gulf. The town was an important seaport held under a succession of royal houses in the Middle Ages as part of the lordship of Argos and Nauplia, held initially by the de la Roche following the Fourth Crusade before coming under the Republic of Venice and, lastly, the Ottoman Empire. The town was the capital of the First Hellenic Republic and of the Kingdom of Greece, from the start of the Greek Revolution in 1821 until 1834. Nafplio is now the capital of the regional unit of Argolis.

Parnon or Parnonas (Greek: ฮ ฮฌฯฮฝฯ‰ฮฝ/ฮ ฮฌฯฮฝฯ‰ฮฝฮฑฯ‚) is a mountain range, or massif, on the east of the Laconian plain and the Evrotas valley. It is visible from Athens above the top of the Argive mountains. The western part is in the Laconia prefecture and the northeastern part is in the Arcadia prefecture. The Parnon range separates Laconia from Arcadia. Its summit offers panoramic views of southeastern Arcadia and South Kynouria and much of Laconia that includes the northern and the central portions and reaches as far as the Taygetos mountains. It also views a part of the central Arcadia and the southern Argolis prefectures. It views the Myrtoan and the Laconian Gulfs.

Monemvasia (Greek: ฮœฮฟฮฝฮตฮผฮฒฮฑฯƒฮฏฮฑ) is a town and a municipality in Laconia, Greece. The town is located on a small island off the east coast of the Peloponnese. The island is linked to the mainland by a short causeway 200m in length. Its area consists mostly of a large plateau some 100 meters above sea level, up to 300 m wide and 1 km long, the site of a powerful medieval fortress. The town walls and many Byzantine churches remain from the medieval period.
The town's name derives from two Greek words, mone and emvasia, meaning "single entrance". Its Italian form, Malvasia, gave its name to Malmsey wine. Monemvasia's nickname is the Gibraltar of the East or The Rock.

Day 3: Monemvasia - Gerolimenas

The city of Pavlopetri (Greek: ฮ ฮฑฯ…ฮปฮฟฯ€ฮญฯ„ฯฮน), underwater off the coast of southern Laconia in Peloponnese, Greece, is about 5,000 years old, making it one of the oldest submerged lost cities, as well as the oldest in the Mediterranean sea.

Gytheio (Greek: ฮ“ฯฮธฮตฮนฮฟ) is a town on the eastern shore of the Mani Peninsula, and a former municipality in Laconia, Peloponnese, Greece. Gytheio is the site of ancient Cranae, a tiny island where according to legend Paris of Troy and Helen from Sparta spent their first night together before departing for Troy, thus igniting the Trojan War.
Gytheio used to be an important port until it was destroyed in 4th century AD, possibly by an earthquake. Even thereafter its strategic location gave Gytheio a significant role in Maniot history. Today it is the largest and most important town in Mani. It is also the seat of the municipality of East Mani.

Cape Matapan (Greek: ฮšฮฌฮฒฮฟ ฮœฮฑฯ„ฮฑฯ€ฮฌฯ‚), also named as Cape Tainaron (Greek: ฮ‘ฮบฯฯ‰ฯ„ฮฎฯฮนฮฟฮฝ ฮคฮฑฮฏฮฝฮฑฯฮฟฮฝ) is situated at the end of the Mani Peninsula, Greece. Cape Matapan is the southernmost point of mainland Greece, and the second southernmost point in mainland Europe. It separates the Messenian Gulf in the west from the Laconian Gulf in the east.
Cape Taenarum in classical antiquity was the site of the city of Taenarum, (Ancient Greek: ฮคฮฑฮฏฮฝฮฑฯฮฟฮฝ) now in ruins. In ancient Greek mythology the eponymous ctistes - the founder-hero of the city - was Taenarus, (ฮคฮฑฮฏฮฝฮฑฯฮฟฯ‚) who was credited with establishing the city's important temple of Poseidon.
Greeks used the proverb Tainarian evil (Ancient Greek: ฮคฮฑฮนฮฝฮฌฯฮนฮฟฮฝ ฮบฮฑฮบฯŒฮฝ), meaning a great and unlawful evil affecting suppliants, for the Spartans killed the Helots who had fled into Tainaron.

Gerolimenas (Greek: ฮ“ฮตฯฮฟฮปฮนฮผฮญฮฝฮฑฯ‚) is a picturesque small coastal village and a community in the municipal unit of Oitylo, at the southern end of the Mani Peninsula, in Laconia, Peloponnese, Greece. The name, which means "Old Harbour", is thought to derive from the ancient "แผนฮตฯฯŒฯ‚ ฮ›ฮนฮผฮฎฮฝ" (Hieros Limen), meaning "Sacred Harbor". One of the remotest settlements in the Peloponnese, until the 1970s it was reached mainly by boat. In the past, it was a major fishing center and featured substantial infrastructures such as a shipyard, ice supplies, and a fish market.
Today the main industry is tourism. According to the 2011 census its population was 99 inhabitants (including the village Ochia).

Day 4: Gerolimenas - Messini

The Taygetus, (Greek: ฮคฮฑฮฐฮณฮตฯ„ฮฟฯ‚) is a mountain range on the Peloponnese peninsula in Southern Greece. The highest mountain of the range is Mount Taygetus, also known as "Profitis Ilias", or "Prophet Elias". The name is one of the oldest recorded in Europe, appearing in the Odyssey. In classical mythology, it was associated with the nymph Taygete. During Byzantine times and up until the 19th century, the mountain was also known as Pentadaktylos (ฮ ฮตฮฝฯ„ฮฑฮดฮฌฮบฯ„ฯ…ฮปฮฟฯ‚; Greek for five-fingered).

Stop At: Archaeological Site of Mystras, Mystras, Sparta Municipality Greece
Mystras or Mistras (Greek: ฮœฯ…ฯƒฯ„ฯแพถฯ‚/ฮœฮนฯƒฯ„ฯแพถฯ‚), is a fortified town and a former municipality in Laconia, Peloponnese, Greece. Situated on Mt. Taygetos, near ancient Sparta, it served as the capital of the Byzantine Despotate of the Morea in the 14th and 15th centuries, experiencing a period of prosperity and cultural flowering. The site remained inhabited throughout the Ottoman period when it was mistaken by Western travelers for ancient Sparta. In the 1830s, it was abandoned and the new town of Sparti was built, approximately eight kilometers to the east.

Messene (Greek: ฮœฮตฯƒฯƒฮฎฮฝฮท Messini), officially Ancient Messene, is a local community. Most of the area of Ancient Messene contains the ruins of the large classical city-state of Messene refounded by Epaminondas in 369 BC after the battle of Leuctra and the first Theban invasion of the Peloponnese. Epaminondas invited the return to their native land of all the families that had gone into exile from Messenia during its long struggle with and servitude under the military state of Sparta, now finished as a conquering state. This new Messene, today's Ancient Messene, was constructed over the ruins of Ithome, an ancient city originally of Achaean Greeks, destroyed previously by the Spartans and abandoned for some time.

Day 5: Messini - Olympia

Bassae (Latin: Bassae, Ancient Greek: ฮ’ฮฌฯƒฯƒฮฑฮน - Bassai, meaning "little vale in the rocks") is an archaeological site in Oichalia, a municipality in the northeastern part of Messenia, Greece. In classical antiquity, it was part of Arcadia. Bassae lies near the village of Skliros, northeast of Figaleia, south of Andritsaina and west of Megalopolis. It is famous for the well-preserved mid- to late-5th century BC Temple of Apollo Epicurius.
Although this temple is geographically remote from major polities of ancient Greece, it is one of the most studied ancient Greek temples because of its multitude of unusual features. Bassae was the first Greek site to be inscribed on the World Heritage List (1986).

Mainalo (Greek: ฮœฮฑฮฏฮฝฮฑฮปฮฟ) is the tallest mountain in the Menalon highlands of the Peloponnese and is located in Arcadia, Greece. In antiquity, the mountain was especially sacred to Pan.
The mountain's highest point, known as both Profitis Ilias and Ostrakina, at a height of 1,981 m (6,499 ft), is the highest point in Arcadia. The mountain has a length of 15 to 20 kilometers (9.3 to 12.4 mi) from southwest of Tripoli to the northeast of Vytina, and a width of 5 to 10 kilometers (3.1 to 6.2 mi) from Zygovisti to Kapsas. The mountain is part of a Natura 2000 site, designated in March 2011, covering an area of 226.4 square kilometers (87.4 sq mi). In the 19th and early 20th century, the mountain was known as Apano Chrepa.

Stop At: Archaeological Site of Olympia, Archea Olympia, Olympia 27065 Greece
Olympia (Greek: แฝˆฮปฯ…ฮผฯ€ฮฏฮฑ;) is a small town in Elis on the Peloponnese peninsula in Greece, famous for the nearby archaeological site of the same name, which was a major Panhellenic religious sanctuary of ancient Greece, where the ancient Olympic Games were held. The site was primarily dedicated to Zeus and drew visitors from all over the Greek world as one of a group of such "Panhellenic" centers which helped to build the identity of the ancient Greeks as a nation. Despite the name, it is nowhere near Mount Olympus in northern Greece, where the Twelve Olympians, the major deities of Ancient Greek religion, were believed to live.
The Olympic Games were held every four years throughout Classical antiquity, from the 8th century BC to the 4th century AD.

The Folรณรฏ oak forest (Greek: ฮ”ฯฯ…ฮฟฮดฮฌฯƒฮฟฯ‚ ฮฆฮฟฮปฯŒฮทฯ‚) is an oak forest in southwestern Greece. It is located in the municipal unit Foloi, Elis, in the western part of the Peloponnese peninsula. The Folรณรฏ oak forest is situated at an altitude of 688m, on the plateau of the Folรณรฏ mountain. It is an ecosystem unique in the Balkan peninsula and consists of a territory of 9,900 acres (40 km2), which is almost entirely covered by deciduous oaks that form a dense forest area.

Kalavryta (Greek: ฮšฮฑฮปฮฌฮฒฯฯ…ฯ„ฮฑ) is a town and a municipality in the mountainous east-central part of the regional unit of Achaea, Greece. The town is located on the right bank of the river Vouraikos, 24 kilometres (15 miles) south of Aigio, 40 km (25 miles) southeast of Patras and 62 km (39 miles) northwest of Tripoli. Notable mountains in the municipality are Mount Erymanthos in the west and Aroania or Chelmos in the southeast. Kalavryta is the southern terminus of the Diakopto-Kalavryta rack railway, built by Italian engineers between 1885 and 1895.

Lake Doxa (Greek: ฮ›ฮฏฮผฮฝฮท ฮ”ฯŒฮพฮฑ Limni Doxa) is an artificial lake in western Corinthia, Greece. It is situated at an elevation of 900 m, in the municipal unit Feneos, near the village Archaia Feneos. Construction was completed in the late 1990s. It is fed and drained by the small river Doxa (ฮ”ฯŒฮพฮฑ), which empties into the plain of Feneos. In the heart of the lake on a small peninsula features a small church of Agios Fanourios. The Saint George Monastery in Feneos was relocated to higher ground, north of the lake. The lake is surrounded by pine forests.
