Itinerary of your trip Hike Around The Foothills Of Iztaccihuatl And Popocatepetl

  • Day 1 Hike next to the Iztaccíhuatl - Popocatépetl
    • 6:45 am - 8:40 am

Hike next to the Iztaccíhuatl - Popocatépetl

Start the day very early to make the most of this experience with a view of the most famous volcanoes in Mexico, Popocatepetl and Iztaccihuatl, known as White Woman or Sleeping Woman, due to the snowy silhouette that is reflected on the summit.

The appointment is at 06:45 AM at the meeting point where you arrive on your own and is located in the Condesa neighborhood, Mexico City. From there, take the road for about two hours until you reach Pasó de Cortés, where both mountains meet.

Upon arrival, make the registration to the Iztaccihuatl - Popocatepetl National Park and then start hiking through this incredible place.

The hike is not as demanding since you do not ascend to the summit of Iztaccihuatl, but walking up the slope gives you the best views of both mountains.

    • 9:15 am - 11:30 am

      Altzomoni

Begin the hike to Altzomoni, the highest point of the entire route (4,100 m.a.s.l.), which you reach after 5 km.

Along the way, learn about the history of both volcanoes and observe the flora and fauna found in the area.

Make a stop for lunch and enjoy beautiful panoramic views of the Popocatepetl and Iztaccihuatl volcanoes, both covered with snow at their summits.

In this area, you can take spectacular pictures and appreciate the scenery.

    • 12:00 pm - 2:45 pm

      Puerto de Cortés - Amecameca

Continue on the road and return to Puerto de Cortés, from there you will take the transport to Amecameca, a small town where you will have lunch and recover your energy.

    • 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

      Return to Mexico City

Return to the meeting point in Mexico City after a fascinating 10 km hike, which you walk with the guide and your fellow adventurers in approximately 4 hours.

Note: The meeting point is in the Condesa neighborhood, on the corner of Vicente Suarez Ave. and Michoacan Ave. in front of the Michoacan market. You can consult with the guide through the chat of your reservation if you have any doubts.

      Meals: Lunch and lunch

      Accommodation: No.

Note: The itinerary schedules are approximate.
